The best thing about the story is that it's honestly believable, I can imagine the final sonic game being something like this, eggman has enough of losing and kills everyone, the whole game would be just trying to get to eggman before he kills a character (eg going thru angel island to save knux) only to always barely be too slow. The final character would be tails and then this games story with the saviour ending plays out... Let's hope sonic goes for a long time so that we don't ever experience that..
