Never Pay Your Car Deposit in Cash, Here's Why | EvoMalaysia.com

  • Big dealerships, because of the need to protect their reputation, are usually honest; but sometimes, you may have the mis-fortune of encountering dishonest salespeople that may cheat you of your money.
    When you pay deposit or booking fee of a car, avoid doing so by cash. Write a cheque or do an online bank transfer direct to the dealership's company account - and insist on a receipt in the process.
    Ensure that your receipts and order forms are officially stamped by the dealership, and it's best to place your order at the dealership premises.

    Now I understand why my mother told me to never transfer directly to the salesman but transfer to the car company instead and make sure the bank account number is owned by the car company not a personal account.

      Kon Wai Luen Booking fee few hundred ringgit only ma can be swiped at dealers terminal that way the salesman there after can't runaway.Also just for sharing is to get the invoice right the first time.When we wanted to change the colour within three days after we booked the car.Salesman said everything kawtim but after sign lou he gave some BS story.In order to not be charged with SST we settled for a colour which we initially booked for instead of what was revised and agreed upon. Hence it's important to get the documentation right the first time .Not to mention wrong loan amount keyed in by salesman which the bank needs to ammend a new agreement to sign which is cumbersome .Sigh.

      Kon Wai Luen
      Pls find below issues ive experience for my persona 2017 model (mainly noises)
      1. Dashboard rattling (unresolved despites proton installed ip noise kit)
      2. Brake noise "tap..tap" (unresolved, brake drum changed...process still on going)
      3. Right Front suspension noise "dup..dup" (unresolved, insulator & strut mount installed. Waiting for shocks)
      4. Unlocked remote hold 3sec all doors opened instead of just trunk.
      5. Left front power window (solved, rubber changed)
      6. Head Unit intermitent hang. Poor responsive
      As an owner of new saga cvt & bezza too, i strongly recommend new saga cvt, bezza & last is persona. Thats how i rate all these 3 cars.
      Despites changed the tire to conti CC6 185/60 stock rim 15", retain the stock shocks i still feel the stiffness which i believe gives the dashboard to rattles when hitting bumper & potholes. Installed the ultra racing strut bar, helps abit but yet stiffness can be felt.
      My verdict, if any of buyer looking for comfort ride, go for new saga cvt/bezza instead.

    • @KonWaiLuen
      @KonWaiLuen  6 років тому

      1. Dashboard rattling - Mine has that too, but not significant enough to bother me.
      2. Tapping brake noise - Not present in mine
      3. Suspension noise - Didn't notice any
      4. What spec is yours? Mine Premium CVT, comes with keyless entry, key fob has a dedicated button to open just the boot.
      5. No power window issues
      6. Have that too. Useless system, but understand the newer ones have an improved unit.
      Our car runs on standard size 185/55 R15 tyres. Car feels much more refined after swapping the stock fit Silverstones for Michelin PS3s. I do feel the rear can sometimes be bouncy going over bumps, but the Roda Pusing crew has a much newer unit that seems to drive more refined than mine.

    how abt buying a new car cash?

    • @KonWaiLuen
      @KonWaiLuen  6 років тому +23

      Well.... in this context, buying a new car cash essentially means paying for the car entirely out of pocket without financing. In such an instance, the payment would still be made by bank transfer, bank draft, or a cheque. You are unlikely to bring a sack with RM50k - RM100k worth of bank notes to the dealership, right?
      What I was referring to in the video was people paying the RM500 - RM1,000 deposit / booking fee direct to the salesperson by bank notes. You won't have problems with an honest salesman, but if the fella has plans to abscond with your money, habis la. So, best is to write a cheque or do an online bank transfer to the dealership's company account.

Luckily the court sided with customer and punish the company. So Kon's suggestion is correct. Non cash payment to company account is best. But then pray company won't go bankrupt lah. Singapore got lots of PIs who easily file bankrupt- money all burnt
