Here's one for my brother SS ...growing up was tough, but hey -- we got this far!! Burning bright, SS -- life is good, keep smiling and rock on! This song is an old favorite from Skid Row's 1989 album. Originally drummed by the amazing Rob Affuso on his Pearl drum kit. I think he used the kit on live tours as well. As for my humble set up -- Recording: the signal from the Yamaha analogue desk is sent to a Sony HD-MVR camera - its 120° lens (wide angle) gets everything out of focus - no manual focus - but I don't have to do any DAW sound processing. Drums and sound set-up: ...acoustic drums mixed/equalized on an analog Yamaha MG20XU mixer desk with 1 cheap condenser mic + 7 Shure drum mics (no FX); backing song on a tablet - monitored via a Polsen headphone amp on a pair of Beyerdynamic headphones. Secondary level checks with a pair of AKGs. Drums, cymbals and sticks: ...ye trusty ol'Mapex Saturn V maple-walnut hybrid shell kit, Mapex factory Remo Emperor clear (toms) & Powerstroke clear (bass) heads + Gretsch USA Custom Bell Brass 14" x 6.5" snare, Remo/Gretsch Permatone CS white dot head + mostly Saluda cymbals with Vater’s 5B sticks.
Brother Spagz - that means a lot coming from you ...thank you for checking it out. My kit isn't much, but the Saluda cymbal set-up was inspired by your awesome drum/cymbal set. Hope you're healing well. Rock on and Merry Christmas 🎄🎅
@dumdumbrown4225 well thank you!! That made my day, and my holiday season 😁. The cymbals sounded great BTW. Your kit is fine. Drums are all in the heads and the tuning. Snares same thing, as long as you have a decent one. It doesn't take much to be good enough. I've heard $50 used snares sound very good. Keep going brother!!
@@Spagzyou’re spot-on. The heads on all my tom-toms and the bass drum are overdue for a refresh. I’ll have to put some thought into those at some point..
