Square your feet to your shoulders, twist hips, put your ass in it (shift body weight accordingly)
Clench your fist moments before impact & aim to put a fist Through your target...Train, train, train peeps'

Dude, you are the best I have seen so far on UA-cam. Exploding all those ridiculous martial arts myths that still plague us to this day. You are distilling all the reality-based training and logical fighting science that I have trained in and researched over many years in to bite-sized, easy to understand videos. Keep it up - if we lived in the same country I would love to train with you!

Nick, what I appreciate about this video is that it's something that can be learned in less then 3 minutes, but it lasts a lifetime in recollecting for when we need to end it quickly, in one strike.
    Thanks.

Your videos have made a lot of difference. this one in particular has made AMAZING improvements. I've watched this video over and over again and I've practiced it with friends and i am amazed at how simple as moving your body together with the throw of a punch can have such amazing improvements. thank you for your videos. can't wait to see more of your lessons.

good stuff here...im studying shotokan ..currently a second dan...and i have to say kata..(which some people dont understand)helps develop these kind of explosive moves using ones whole body...its amazing the explosive power you get...but yeh i agree on using legs ,hips,to increase power...but you have to train for that to become instictive .its good to no but you have to train it...the power i feel i have now is after 14 year training ...if your looking for a quick fix some tips will help but for devastating power its always going to be who trains alot...oss...

This is a great method for developing power but it should be mentioned that it isn't the only one. Others (that are by no means mutually exclusive - they all work well together) such as Peter Consterdine's 'double hip', Vladimir Vasiliev and Mikhail Ryabko's 'wave motion' and Val Riazanov's 'ballistic striking' methods are also well worth looking into for those interested in power - and, crucially, efficient impact - maximisation.
Great vid; keep 'em coming! Straight in favourites every time. :D

Hi Nick, Your push back move at 2:35 is so similar to the Chinese Kung Fu (XingYi), have you heard about that or learn some martial arts like that? We also emphasize that put all the weight of body on the foot, and push using body power. So that can act at very short distance. Anyway, thank you for the great videos, I show them to my friends, they all like them very much!

    Good advice
If I may add, with open hand beside waist bunch like you said with full body move & collective body strength , while your hand going to the attacker's body close your hand until it's close hand contact the body ... trust on your self with no hesitation is a must.
... that is speed + whole body strength = power punch ( I've already had a situation where I had to defend myself against one double my size .. surprise + power punch >> foe down )
It will need some practice on the move, & some power training like sweedy push ups

Excellent vid . To be honest I rate all your vids, would like to ask, are those Bob XL any good as I would like to buy one. Reason is it seems to be like training to nearest real thing, IE hitting a bag is not like hitting a person but bob XL is a persons head and body. So it would be better for targets like chin nose eyes jaw. Is it like hitting someone.

Totally agree Nick! "Rooted in the feet, powered by the legs, directed by the waist, expressed by the hands." T'ai-Chi Classic. Gotta have that root and gotta power it with the legs and bring the whole body into the strikes. So easy to get off balance when you power things from the upper body. Look at any "Fail" video. Most of the time they get into trouble because their upper body is disconnected from their feet...and they're really drunk.

what I recommend, it'll create a similar motion to this, but figure out where your center of gravity is. Don't move your knee or hip for the sake of moving them. Shift your center of gravity, as a result your weight towards your target and use the hips to pivot the strike. Your knees and such will follow naturally to toss your weight while remaining stable.

    Hello Nick,
I´ve been watching your videos for years and I have to say that your instructions are by far the most realistic I´ve experienced in my whole history of "taking self defence courses" besides doing all kinds of martial arts! (I´m at your age now) You are really transfering useful basics from boxing, muay thai etc. into your "system" (if I may call it like that). So since I am not satisfied with all I´ve learned so far (esp.) from krav maga and wing chun (did it for about a year and always went back to boxing and muay thai, even for self defence), may I ask: Where can I learn the things you teach practically (besides getting your awesome informations from the I-Net)? It´s not so easy to find a good instructor in germany...and: Would you recommand a certain system? (krav maga is indeed quite good, but the training-regime here is too theoretical....)

It is also true that good solid grounding can prevent you being knocked out or down this is the case in boxing especially, as the strike hit you plant both feet into the ground bending the knees and pushing up the heels and digging those toes in the ground. Its not always the striker that wins if your well conditioned and know defense manoeuvres you can be very hard to put down or knocked out.

I think a really good demonstration of this technique is the "one inch punch" demonstrated by Bruce Lee. When he would throw his punch, his fist may have only moved one inch, but it looked like his whole body would jolt forward like a damned mile and he definitely would get the torque action from his hips into his shoulders and wrists/elbows.
Another nice video. Thanks Nick! :D

This guy is on the point. He's a good fighter and a dancer. That's why I consider fights no different from dancing. When someone wants to fight me I say "oh so you wanna dance?" When you fight be more passionate like this guy and throw your moves majestically and not like a dirty lost dog swinging wildly. Majestic hits will end the fights faster and smoother.
