Virgin Cruise -Miami to Cozumel -Excursion Chichén-Itzá (2024 D&M)

We enjoyed our first Virgin cruise (2023) so much that we booked another! We took advantage of the $300 deposit and received $600 in cruise credit. We used this $600 onboard credit to pay for our 8-9 hour excursion to Chichén-Itzá!
The ship shows have all been 110% awesome! They are all very well choregraphed and very entertaining. All of the onboard restaurants are top notch service and excellent food. I think we've had better service at these locations than most experienced back home/on land. We personally enjoy our time in the balcony included room with inclusive 24/7 meal delivery.
I think every single staff member on Virgin we've encountered has been exceptional! Everyone is so polite and hospitable throughout the entire ship.
Our Chichén-Itzá excursion guides were TOP NOTCH! This day trip is a LOT of traveling so be prepared. You'll first take an enclosed catamaran boat from Cozumel to the mainland. This trip was about 30-45m and very lumpy over the seas. Many folks were even having some severe stomach issues. This seems to be common as the boat staff has "bags" in-hand. After a short through Paseo del Carmen Shopping Mall we caught a very nice passenger bus. This is where we met our guide staff and began the 2-hour or so ride to Chichén-Itzá. Its a long but comfortable ride and the guides did a great job. They explained the culture, heritage, and even cracked some funny jokes. We got a great sense of appreciation from the guides that we had all chosen to learn more about their local history.
Chichén-Itzá is an amazing historical site. Just be prepared that this tour consumes just about the entire day with only about 60-90 minutes at the actual ruins. They have a lot of time obligations to meet with the water and the bus companies in order to make it back to the ship on time. We are glad we chose this tour but were a little disappointed by all the "vendors" setup all inside the actual historical area's. We chose this guided tour via Virgin in leu of us flying direct to Mexico and creating our own itinerary.
Overall we really enjoyed the entire experience and will book with Virgin cruise lines again in the future! Cheers!!
