Greetings from New York City-----------I had a milestone birthday last month (you know, the kind that comes every 5 years or so), and treated myself to a Simpson's Chubby 2 Super/Silver badger brush-----------Quite an experience---------I'm sure that the Chubby 2 Best is also much better than most other brushes in use today----------Expensive? Yes, but if you want to treat or pamper yourself, or if you are getting ready for a special day or night, you will definitely feel worthy of the experience.
I'm looking forward to adding a Chubby 2 to my brush lineup (which is, so far, synthetics). My favorite soap so far is Wholly Kaw and I can't wait to try a Chubby 2 with this soap.
I purchased a sample of the Marlborough cologne and aftershave lotion today and i do get that tobacco type scent coming from it. Very unique but i like it !
I specifically use the Simpsons Colonel shaving brush and Marlborough shaving soap. The D.R. Harris Marlborough soap is stunning in every respect. The scent alone is 'old world rugged masculinity' defined. There is nothing that comes close, in my opinion. It's pure old world luxury! The Simpsons Colonel shaving brush is tremendous value for money. The best brush I have ever used in fact. There is no soap or cream, to date, that this brush has not failed with. NONE! It's the perfect size as well; neither too large nor small. It's simply perfect. My advice - GET IT and GET IT NOW! Furthermore, I have tried countless shaving soaps and creams over the years - but for some reason the Marlborough shaving soap just keeps calling me back. Believe me, I know this sounds weird - but there's something so alluring about that scent; it's unlike anything else and stands alone.
Just like to say a big thank you to you Con for your advice on the Trufitt... review regarding glycerin. I myself found it hard to keep lather moist but after your tip it's been perfect since. And the 1805 is a beaut as well, thanks pal. I enjoy the vids so keep em coming.
I sold my condominium in a trendy upmarket neighbourhood in Bangkok and used the proceeds to purchase a Simpsons Chubby No.2 brush. It is being flown in by a special flight from the UK. I have a Massion Lambert shave brush which slipped out of my hand and fell on the floor. Thus the handle of the brush has become chipped. How sturdy is the Simpsons. Will it survive a fall?
Shave the Man could you elaborate some on what are the differences in the different Simpsons brush lines e.g. How is a Chubby different from a Duke etc and what does that mean for the shave?
I sent for the Duke 3, as my experience with big brushes isn't that good, having a Taylor S41, beautifully brush but way to large for my liking, I have also some brushes from Thäter, they're good for face lathering as well as the Duke, for bowl lathering I prefer softer brushes from Mühle or Shavemac
Marlborough is the only soap i have from DR Harris for some reason it reminds me of a Man's sweaty locker room. I wanted to like it more maybe it will grow on me :)
I have Marlborough as a cream. I do like the scent. I do think it has a smoky feel but to me, not unpleasant. I am going to use it tomorrow and hopefully will knock up a first class lather, however, my best lathers at the moment are coming from Geo F Trumper Limes. Well worth a try!
Hello! I am in the market for a Simpsons Chubby 2 and am torn between the Best and Super badgers. Have you used the Super and if so how does it compare?
The D.R. Harris outperforms my Mitchell's Wool Fat, the cedar is too strong in this scent though, it needs much more then a mere trace of sandalwood. I have a Duke 2 on the way.
I would probably scare the horses away jacob lahr !! In all seriousness, there are an number of excellent shave videos out there already Jacob. It may happen one day :) All the best, Con
I haven't used a Colonel but I've heard nothing but positive comments on it's performance. I guess I'll have to put it on my wish list. Thanks for sharing :)
So, Marlborough or Windsor Soap? Is there any real difference? Τι πιστεύεις είναι καλύτερο σαν απόδοση? Το βρίσκω εδώ με 12 ευρώ. Greetings From Greece!
+Shave the Man You sound very Australian to me. I am English. You do have a soft accent but it is clearly Australian (to me). Your pronunciation is exceptional and clear. I would say you speak with received pronunciation but with an Aussie flair.

Great presentation on the shaving brushes and shaving creams ever!
Thank you Nazir

i have a chubby 3 in best and it's an INCREDIBLE brush.
They are truly incredible brushes Eric... The Chubby 3 is a monster. Love it! :)

It's certainly an acquired taste. Some have said it smells like a wiped ashtray :)
haha havent heard that one before.
Excellent and articulate video
Thanks for your videos, they are very informative. Do you have any experience with the Chubby #3 in 2 band? What are your thoughts on it? Thank you.

Is it as stiff as the Chubby 2 Synthetic?
Hello! I am in the market for a Simpsons Chubby 2 and am torn between the Best and Super badgers. Have you used the Super and if so how does it compare?
Hi David, I've only used a Chubby 2 in Best, but I'm sure the Super would perform well!
Thank you sir, I ended up ordering the Best Badger as I wasn't able to find any compelling evidence to go with the Super. Looking forward to using it.

I agree, the cedar is quite pronounced. Let us know how you get on with the Duke 2.
Cheers,
Con - Shave the Man
I only smell cedar with the Marlborough, I can't smell any sandalwood or any other notes
Why don't you ever do a shave video?
I would probably scare the horses away jacob lahr !!
In all seriousness, there are an number of excellent shave videos out there already Jacob. It may happen one day :)
All the best,
Con
Shave the Man you have by far the most professional looking videos out of all of my subscriptions, not just wet shavers. keep it up!!
Can you please review the Duke 3? Cheers :)
The colonel by Simpson is a great brush and a cheaper brush by Simpson
I haven't used a Colonel but I've heard nothing but positive comments on it's performance. I guess I'll have to put it on my wish list. Thanks for sharing :)
