- In this video, we headed down to Changi Village Food Centre to do a $100 hawker food challenge! It's almost 6 years since I last been here and I had to say the food is amazing.
Joining me today is Rooney, a Grab driver who is a huge foodie as well. He picked this place as this is his favorite go to hawker in the East. Truly enjoyed the Chicken Horfun - both stalls and the fried bananas - highly recommended!

HAHA there's one coming up! Follow my IG for updates 🙌
True blue Singaporean boy - English, Mandarin and Hokkien, eating and talking about our everyday stuff. Thanks for the down-to-earth content 👍

Yeah man. And they really know where to eat!
Hey a big shout out to Zermatt and Team! I wanna say that it's so amazing that you are helping to promote and feature Singapore hawker and local food. Not only the well known but also sticking up for the others that are as important cos they are really fighting the good fight involved in the local food scene. You even topped that by featuring everyday brothers and sisters. I've watched you evolve from the production level to your skills in making it also a chat show in some ways. U have definitely put your super power to good use and massive thumbs up. Keep it up and hope you get all the success. Specifically to this episode, applaud Rooney as a fellow Red. YNWA!
Really love the idea of inviting viewers from all walks of life to dine with Zermatt! This will spice up your meals!
Yes! Haha my pleasure to eat with them
Whenever I am having a shitty/tiring day, just watching your food videos make me feel so relaxed.
Thank you my man! Have a good rest
Rooney expression says it all. Lol.. he's really scared to join in your next session. Haha.. Anyway, really loves this episode! Loves to see this kind of friendship interaction
Yeah man - I wanna get people from all walks of life, not just KOLs haha
I love this episode. It is good that the guest is introducing food to Zermatt. A different way of showing the content!!
Oh my everything looks so good!! This is a feast 😍💖
Yeah you need to visit Singapore
So humble Zermatt . i really enjoy watching his channel. Hard to find such down to earth people nowadays.
Its always good to showcase different hawker stall for us to have a glims of what to eat and order in a specific center, as always thank you zermatt and team...
Thanks buddy!
Rooney in Liverpool shirt. HAHAHA. This guy is a legend, shooting his mouth off so straight to the point. Zermatt you mentioned Xianwenpoops and Megan, you forgotten about your Alison!?
HAHAHA yeah hes v v blunt but we keeping things real here
Rooney be looking terrified from start to end 🤣
HAHAHA ikr
yea lol! Rooney's apprehensive face when looking at the spread initially, HAHA
my personal favourites from changi village hawker are:
- the corner stall wanton mee (its really damn good)
- nasi lemak from the stall called "International" smth, it used to be at the corner but changed location ever since the hawker centre renovated. it's basically the OG stall that made changi village nasi lemak famous hahaha (although the standard last time was better, but i personally feel it's still the best) -- Zermatt and Rooney didn't try this one sadly
- mee soto beside the "International" nasi lemak stall, its rly v good as well but i think they only start to open at night and closes in the morning
- the corner fried banana stall that has "Million star" in its name, that one is really good and is my favourite among the 2 fried banana stalls (which Zermatt didn't get to try since the stall was closed on that day)
but great video Zermatt! could tell Rooney was really nervous in front of camera but he's very real and could feel sincerity in his sharing, looking forward to your next video with him!
Wow you're the real foodie hahaha. Yes yes his first time eating in front of the camera a bit ganjiong
Wholesome video - the authentic conversations made it so good and enjoyable. Rooney is one hilarious fella. 👍 More of him!
HAHA I like him coz he's so real. 🙌🙌
Every time I watch one of your videos, I am amazed by the amount you can eat and how you can do so on a consistent basis. Mere mortals would have given up or passed out. Thanks for the great videos.

When he said he “bo chap” and he doesn’t want to see any rice and noodle till tomorrow hahahaha
The face hahahaha 😂
HAHAHA yeah he's super funny
Really happy video!
Thanks brother!
Zermatt, come down to Adelaide South Australia which is where I’m currently in, will take you to best food places. Also thought of an idea, food hawker challenge with Jian Hao Tan would be an interesting idea. Love your videos, always makes me so hungry.
I ate there last week. Great food and great place
Rooney kena stunned by the food. Zermatt you are really good at review. Keep it up.
hey zermatt i was actually planning to head down to changi village tomorrow for lunch! hehe...nice recommendations!
Awesome! 🙌
Just want to say love the vids, watching them from abroad, I do miss living in Sg. Also I like the semi interviews you have now and then, might not be the food challenge format, but interviews with locals from all walks of life in Singapore and their stories is pretty entertaining while you guys smash 3kgs of food in one sitting.
Woah where you at now brother?
@@ZermattNeo not too far haha, Perth. Family moved over when I was a teen a long time ago. But damn your vids showcase how good sg food life is, every one watching living vicariously through you! so thanks!
Wonderful experience it been 6 years since I have been there 😋
Time to revisit!
As always good content and good food intro! Shall go try it soon although I am another westie 😂 Indeed ur spicy level really level up ALOT. THANKS to the good training from megan😂😂😂 Can’t believe u are still not over the ghosting story. Jiayou bro 🙆🏻
Not bad hor hahaha. I get inspired by watching Mark Wiens down all that chili
I stay in the North but looking at the food recommendation here, I must make my way to Changi Village to try some of the food. They really looked good!
Rooney did not really eat a lot but u the man man. Finished everything. Keep it up
Haha he normal human
Try the Changi Village Carrot Cake stall. Only black and stall opens from morning till early afternoon. The amount of eggs makes it damn shiok. Also the western food stall opposite the Ipoh Hor Fun stall. Favourite item is Garlic Chicken. Finally the Hainan Curry Rice, although not 剪刀剪 standard but still worth trying.
I love how my man is named Rooney, but is a Liverpool fan. :')
there are 2 stalls serving 红茶龙眼 in changi village also. middle lane one has more tea taste while the one roony had taste sweeter and is similar to bundung a bit hard to find elsewhere.
Ooooooh gotcha on that
King !! So hungry now
Hehe
Restoran Woon Kiang (汶強粿條仔) You should go try this at JB. I think you can down alot of bowls.
If you are ever doing a food video at Tiong Bahru Market, a Must-Try is the Nasi Lemak stall from 'Super Shiok Nasi Lemak'. They use Basmati rice for their Nasi lemak which are cooked to perfect fluffiness and you can taste the grains individually. I believe their chilli are the belachan type which has the perfect kick to it. The fried wings are battered tastefully to the crisp and dripping juicy freshness.
😙👌
there is a malacca chendol store near the hawker centre which is also not bad. the microbrewery call little island john near the hawker also quite interesting place, serve very nice fish & chips using fresh seabass.
Their fried bananas are good too
Wow. That was a lot of food. Rooney likes to eat. Truckers know the best spots to stop.
Ikr! Haha
Amazing 👏 .
Thank you!
We ate at Changi Village the last time we were in Singapore. Many good stalls.
Both local noodle stall are equally good but for the nasi lemak I suggest international something stall just right behind where you sit /eat
Nice but closed leh
I really miss SG food, your vid’s aren’t making it easier but thanks for eating all of them on our behalf 😝
Yes yes eat through me for now
Do a 24hr old kallang airport hawker next! different types of food stalls opened in the morning and night
I'll look it up!
Rooney probably still mad at liverpool’s lost against real madrid in the finals of the ucl and venting his anger too.
I stay in the west and don't know much about the East and nice introduction to the east ! You mentioned month-end will have 1 video with 艾莉 ! looking fwd !
Yes have have - coming soon
Thanks Megan (although she's not there), otherwise Zermatt wouldn't be able to withstand a lot of spicy food! Great video as always! : D
HAHA actually it's Mark Wiens
白天吃到黑夜!!赞!!
哈哈你好! 我们六多点开吃 差不多7点多吃完
This hawker centre is surely nostalgic for servicemen... lots of camps nearby, so people who served in the nearby camps definitely have good memories from this place. ;)
Yeah love the vibes.
My goodness you are looking FANTASTIC TODAY!!! 🥰😍😘😋🤤
Awww thank you! Have a nice day
@@ZermattNeo 😘
20:46 3合1. Meaning, there are 3 layers of fillings. One been yam, second layer been rice cake( some are white in colour) and lastly sweet potato or yam
OH gotcha!
😲😲😲😲😲
_【Singapore Street Food!】_
😋SUPER TASTY AND DELICIOUS
😋
Super Grateful and Thankful for this lovely video
Hi Zermatt, you can do the $100 hawker challenge for Newton Food Centre next, there are 2 Michelin stalls there, one of them sells the satay and BBQ chicken wings, the other stall sells the stingray, la la etc. I tried both on 2 different occasions with my family and friends and other stalls as well, to be honest Newton Food Centre food taste a lot better than chomp chomp and is slightly cheaper in price approx 15% cheaper than chomp chomp. Just my 2 cent worth of thoughts for your consideration.
Wowow sure. I'll visit Newton soon
Finally another hawker video! The food here really looks good. I only got to try the nasi lemak stalls there previously lol. This session looks more like a mukbang for you haha.
When you coming to try Amk Ave 10 Chong Boon hawker though 😂😂
Hahaha yeah Mukbang for sure
Hey Zermatt can you try Uncle Penyet dishes, they serve Indonesian cuisine, looking forward to meetig you someday!
Zermatt u r super nuclear!!
🤣🤣🤣 the 年糕 I can feel thee capacity over the screen
HAHAHA ikr
Early and yummy!!! =D
Haaa Villlage Park steady bom pipi right. My standards for Nasi Lemak went high too after that haha. keep it up Zer! Love from Malaysia 🇲🇾
HAHAHA ikr. That one freaking hard to top!
How dude...howww ?? 3 years in SG and I loved my hawker food (this ang mo more at home in hawker place than hi class restaurant!). If i tried to eat this, I be in hospital getting stomach pump after 5 dishes haha. Impressive. Rooney seemed nice guy, but look slightly terrified at sight of all the food.
Oh my god ahhaha the chicken chop hor fun i had been eating it since 2003 during my 2years NS at Palau Tekong,I will book out every evening just to eat that.
Yeah man I saw a bunch of NS guys there
Rooney is funny and should a good person too!!!
He's super straightforward
Come bukit batok at bukit batok shopping centre !! Alot nice food here. Especially the hokkien mee and lor mee
I love the hokkien mee and fried kway teow at the back of the stall which is near the charlie corner not sure if that stall is still around
The western food at the amigo hor fan is very delicious
Outside the hawker there is stall selling chendol is quite good also
Niceee!
4:55 Ronney is dead inside 🤣
After your talking tactic starts , he also eat a little more hahaha
fooooooood, maybe you could give punggol nasi lemak at serangoon road a try? its always super long queue and only operates from 6pm onwards
Hahaha standard drop quite a bit. So far only coconut club can top the ones I've had in KL
Same for me.. long since I went to changi village.. perhaps next stop is not hawker.. but stalls in coffee shop. Haha
Oh yeah those open till late
Megan MVP. Without her, people will laugh SG no.1 competitive eater cannot finish spicy noodles.
Hahahaha I'm sure
thanks for featuring different hawkers in your video - not alot of food bloggers do this! hoping to see you in public and hopefully eat with you! HAHA!
Hahaha please come up to me if you ever see me in the streets
Try sim vista duck rice and green chilli chicken rice
Heard of that one!
my fav nasi lemak will be international nasi lemak at changi village !!
Not sure if it's still there leh lol
it closed down?!
The black carrot cake there also is so damn nice.
Closed 😭
SO PROUD OF ZERMATT FOR EATING SPICY FOOD LIKE A CHAMP!!! spicy food challenge upcoming....??
HEHE wait till you seen my video with Mark 😏😏
There is a Malay stall, 2nd stall next to the drinks, opens at 8.30pm and sold out around 11pm. Long queue, popular is mee Soto and satay, but their mee rebus and gado gado also good. Go try out, but not open every day.
Man I missed that one
Maybe you can give Eng's Char Siew Wantan Mee a try, along Tanjong Katong Rd, not the one with lots of franchise..
Tried b4, not too bad but won't do a challenge for that one haha
The poor guy on the left looks stunned by the huge spread, can see his face turn ghostly white even before start to eat
wow duck rice ah...im a fan of duck rice hahaa =D maybe i can be backup? hahaah....anyway great vid again and some great food...keep up the good work bro.! hope theres a chance to eat together next time.....would love a fried rice series i got 1 - 2 to recommand or a mutton soup series which i love too =D take care..
We gg the geylang one!
TOTALLY agree. i cannot understand why riders be ready at drop off point. but need to wait at their home until the drivers reach then they will take their own sweet time to take the lift and come down. just wait at the drop off point to make the trip smoother for yourself and the driver too. does waiting downstairs and wait at your house makes any difference? No. Imagine a grab driver experience 10 riders with this mentality, he could be wasting 50mins +- within his day
yay changi v one of my fav hawker centres! should have ordered drinks from my fav coffee stall there and preferably the best in changi v, NAM MEI TRADITIONAL COFFEE, NG CHEE MENG once went to his stall to buy drinks from the hawker boss, been patronizing the coffee stall for several years :) Changi V is truly a hidden gem :)
IKR solid the food there. Gonna explore East area more
@@ZermattNeo come my hood PASIR RIS CENTRAL HAWKER CENTRE (:
Should have try the fried oysters opposite the banana
Closed lol
Hor fun really shiok. Reminds me of my NS times in tekong. But now too far liao 😂
You last time commando ah
goreng pisang (deep fried banana) quite ok taste, but i recommend the round-flat-shape deep fried greenbean (绿豆炸), very delicious ! must try !
Yeah I wanna try that green bean next!
@@ZermattNeo gentle reminder : i just tried the two stalls here their 绿豆炸,disappointed, not authentic, can dont try
Hahaha tats hilarious nian guo jiu siao liao. Hahahahahahahaha
HAHAHAHA
