      It went well. Everything was working perfectly. This video only shows how to do it. For example you can watch the video in the link below. ua-cam.com/video/hnvspQZpXp0/v-deo.html
      Similar repair done in this video. The pad was fixed the same way. 😁

    I have a RTX 2080 ti with bad vram on B0. When I heat up the replacement it doesnt seem to sink into place and sits higher than the rest and i dont notice any board warping. Am i doing something wrong?

      What is the size of the solder balls used to reball the memory? If you have not reballed but received reballed from the place you purchased then when you installed the memory did you tap to check if the balls were completely melted and stuck to the pads on the board. the correct size for solder balls for GDDR6 is 0.45mm.

    • @LegacyGameWorkshop
      @LegacyGameWorkshop 9 місяців тому +1

      @@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql They are preballed from where I purchased them from. I did tap it and didn't get any movement so maybe they weren't melted completely. Thanks for your quick response, Loving your videos.

      I had the same problem. I bought preballed memory chips. And I also had problems with them not sinking. Then I removed the solvent and added new solder balls on the original memory chips. Then I succeeded in the 1st attempt. And got my 3070 working again.

    can you tell me how would you aproach repair when all memory chips on amd gpu would be bad and you would have a donor with a different brand and model memory?
    in situation when the same vendor made this model with this memory you would probably hlash the bios nad move memory chips, but what if this particular memory was never used by the manufacturer of this gpu and there is no bios because this is a custom pcb version
    is there a way to extract memory configuration from other amd gpu and patch it intoa bios pulled from a broken card? would this work or would there be more things to change?

    • @GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql
      @GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql  Рік тому

      Ok. Now that's a video in itself. First I would want to know which is this card brand and model. Normally all memory do not go faulty unless the issue is with the core itself. How did you test it. Tserver or memtunes? If it's older card like RX580 II assume you used tserver. For newer cards like 6000 series I assume you used memtunes. For newer models mostly Samsung is used compared to Hynix or Micron. For these cards bios is written for all memory modules in the same BIOS. So you only have to change straps so bios understands which memory is installed. For older cards like the 580, 480 etc the bios is individually written so you will have to flash the bios apart from changing the straps. The best place to find BIOS is techpowerup. Many can be found in the unverified section. Extreme rare scenario I would have all memory actually faulty on the AMD card. But I would be in a better position to make suggestions if I know the AIB name and model of the card.

      @@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql it is more hipotetical than practical question and it goes to bonaire gpu teritory so not so many programs support that
      it is low profile w4300 to be exact and bios only support one batch of memory 256word by 32 bit 4 chips 4gb in total, i wouldn't have the exact memory at hand so the card is sitting on a backburner for now, i have some spare hynix chips from broken oem r5 430 batch , cards were smashed in shipment and cores were crashed, but memory seems ok and is free but there is no bios for w4300 or w5100 that support it, most of the bioses for those use 128 word by 32 bit in 8 chips, the only bios with that exact config i have is asus r7 240 and i extracted memory table from it but i am still not sure if just patching it into w4300 bios make it able to run it or is there some other places to look, to be honest i would even more likely transfer it to some hd7790/r7260x pcb for better vrm and cooling, but the rest of the board might not like the swaped bios and i would have to do the same to actual bios of that gaming pcb
      that's an old tech by today's standards and not very loved by modders

    • @kokodin5895
      @kokodin5895 Рік тому

      @@GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql i mean not all memory is broken on that w4300 is broken but it is samsung memory, all i have to spare is hynix of similar specs and that particular samsung memory is not economical for me to get and i simply can't just add 2 hynix chips to 2 samsung ones

    • @GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql
      @GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql  Рік тому

      BIOS programming is really not my cup of tea. So I really would not be able to advise modifying a BIOS program. But I can say that editing bios from a different card is really not the way to go at least I would not try that. I did check techpowerup and the only version available is in unverified BIOS and it is for Samsung only. In this scenario, i would suggest sticking to Samsung unless you or someone else can modify the current BIOS on your card to Hynix. That will also depend if you have the schematics of that card so you can change the straps so that the BIOS can read the new brand memory, in your case Hynix. I would spend that kind of time reprogramming BIOS and installing new memory on that card only if there was any emotional value to it or I would leave it aside and move on.
