- In this video I am taking you step-by-step through my process in creating an oil painting of a vibrantly coloured Pomegranate.
The reference picture was made by myself for the weekly hosted #foodpaintchallenge and you can find it on my Instagram page. If you enjoy painting and would like to paint a pomegranate yourself, be sure to check it out!

My paintings are available in my online store on my website www.dennispfeil.com
If you have any questions or requests, I'd love to read about it in the comments.
The paint I use is a special oil paint (Cobra, from Royal Talent) which you can thin by using water instead of spirits. Other than that, it's the same as regular oil paint.
On the palette:
- titanium white
- lemon yellow
- yellow ochre
- pyrrole red
- alizarin crimson
- phtalo green
- ultramarine blue
- ivory black

Great to see you work with water mixable oil paints.

Great!

Hello…. Thank you so much for the tutorials…. I use water mixable oil paint from winsor and newton… since I’m scared of using solvents … I should try water as solvent… I use fast drying liquin solvent for mixing
Great! I’m a big fan of water mixable oils 😊. I only use water and sometimes cobras medium to get it more fat for later layers.
I used regular oil paints from the 90s onwards till today. The longest I spent on a single painting was five months.
❤
what kind of paint palette do you use? it looks like a re-usable one.
Hi Alexis! That’s actually a cheap frame from a local shop. I painted the backdrop under the glass plate grey. Nowadays I use a grey tear off palette though. 😊
