The benefits I have seen since switching to a mallet style from a blade this summer, is the stability it provides on the backswing. I am still trying to get totally comfortable with it, as I have played a blade type putter for the last 20 years, but the early results are encouraging. I noticed that trend on Tour last year, and finally found a putter that prompted me to make the switch
Your distance contol has suffered with the mallet or, at best, not improved at all. It's hard not to. If you're honest with yourself. Though, the benefits may still outweigh that factor for you.
I have gone the other way and went from Mallet to Blade. I find I have way more feel
