Do you lose geometry after a certain amount of lapping, or does the lapping maintain the roundness regardless the amount of stock removed?

Geometry will not improve, we need pre ground workpieces with roundness and cylindricity in spec - then take as little material as possible (Stock around roughness value plus some), to improve surface finish (usually polished surface) and micron tight tolerances. Sorry for our very late reply!
