  • Hello Folks, as I wind down on my January Event canvas, I was anxious to get going on a budget round. So Yay me... Kitting up my retro VW Bug canvas from Temu.
    Enjoy.
    The topic of DP goals and hierarchy here is the list I discussed in the video. My so called Jacob's Ladder of Diamond Painting.
    Round - Budget Market (incl Amazon)
    Discover if DP is the right hobby for you
    Discover Partials and Special Drills
    Canvas versus Off-Canvas
    Square - Budget Market (incl Amazon)
    Discover working with Smaller drills
    Learn new techniques (checker boarding)
    Discover a DP with more detail
    Go Bigger - Round or Square drills
    Try a larger canvas in your favorite drill shape
    Premium canvas versus Budget Canvas
    Try a MAX color DP kit
    Try a Premium Plus kit (HAED maybe?)
    Cross stitch Coversion

      Hi Charleen, I waited to long to enter the social media world and sat on the sidelines watching other channels cuz jumping in to this was all kinds of scary. I have met so many wonderful people that I'm glad I made changes in my life to do so. You are the type of people I always hoped to meet so thank you for joining the channel becoming part of my network of new friends. So glad you're here. (Hint, that buggy is so coming along I can't wait to share the finish)

    I just love your content and your personality! You make me smile! I’m 3/4 of the way thru my first canvas. Square is definitely my next goal but not soon! I’m so intimidated by squares!

      Hi Mary, squares are only scary at first. I have lived that life too..lol. Thank you for your kind comments about my content and personality. I am being my true self and refuse to be anything else just because this is a social media platform. I'm gonna be me and will not always have the more popular opinions about things but will voice those opinions anyway. Go forth and join the SQUARE world cuz once you do, you'll see the DP options for you will just expand! Here's to overcoming your fear!

      Hi Jen... When I started I didn't even know there were off-canvas options (heck maybe there weren't then). NIce way to start. Not only learning DPing but having a use item to display. Great move. Welcome to the SQUARE life! Squares generally take longer than rounds and can get a little frustration but hang in there. Doing squares opens up some many more doors in this hobby. Let's us know in a future post how it all came out for you. Thanks for watching!

    I " Love " the knowledge you share. I'm so glad I found your Channel a few days ago. I have been diamond painting 13 months and I still learn new ideas from you. I buy Amazon bundles for $20 - $25. They cost me on average $2 each. Tiny Fun is my favorite budget company. I'm gonna try squares but I'm overwhelmed thinking about it. Baggies are a must for this Craft for saving your drills incase you are shorted drills. Thank You and God Bless ❤

    Love the bug DP! I started DP last February. My first one was the DAC War Pony. I was hooked! I did cross stitch years ago. I have completed 13 diamonds paintings. I LOVE square diamonds!!! Just joined your channel recently. I love confetti-heavy paintings. I do use multi placers also up to 6.

      Diane, that is impressive. I like you, LOVE the hobby. I just can't help it. I love the shopping, love the process and love the resulting DP. Ugh! Way to separate me from my from my funds... I find myself complaining to the Confetti Demons but I really do like the results confetti give me. Changing colors 12 times in a 2" x 2" square doesn't always make me giggle but the results are usually worth it. Welcome to the channel. Glad to have you here.

    Oooh, I'm really slow. I do not presently DP each day. I went from 2 to 3 inch DP's, was hooked and now doing a 20x20. And I too like Owls. So that is the DP I'm now doing. I order my DP's from Temu and all are round drilled paintings. Because of you, I now will look for a SQUARE DP to try. Just sounds interesting to try. I'm no where near finished with my present project. I'll say I'm 1/5 of the way started. I did order a back light board because of being able to see drill areas clearly. Believe me, I've already learned so much from you. Yes, I'm subscribed. After watching about 3 of your videos I decided this is my kind of teacher. You do educate as well as share your experience. Thank you. I'm not really caring that your videos at times are long, I like your vibe and style. The 20x20 is my first of it's size. I am enjoying it. It's just another and new craft that relaxes me. I've got one more DP coming from Temu and any day now my light board should come. I'm going in!! My next search and purchase is for square paintings. Thank you again and have a Blessed one! I really appreciate you saying so and sharing your DP journey. Let me know if there is anything specific you'd like to see or see again on the channel and I will try to oblige.

    I hear you when you say to stay in the “Budget Range” when you are starting to Diamond Paint. It seemingly makes sense so that one doesn’t spend a lot of money on a craft they might not enjoy. However, working on a budget painting that 1. Takes forever to arrive because it’s coming on a “slow boat from china”, 2. Working on a canvas that either frays on the edges or is so stiff that it never lays nice and flat even flattened under a stack of book, 3. (As you say) Working on a small painting with a lot of detail that looks great in the original picture you see online but after you finish it is so pixelated that you cannot tell what it even is. This can easily happen because many budget companies only offer small paintings to keep the price so low, 4. Unknowingly working on “stolen - unlicensed” artwork that are poor in resolution and color, resulting in a poor quality rendering, 5. Working with a kit that has poorly shaped drills, fighting with them resulting in gapping in the finished product. INSTEAD, I recommend, buy a quality kit as your FIRST piece. Most companies will offer you a discount if you are a first time customer! You may find that you LOVE Diamond Painting rather than Not liking the craft due to poor quality products. Then you can experiment with trying some other companies and if you do run into problems, you’ll know that not all of the diamond paintings are this way.

    • @SharingOurShine
      @SharingOurShine  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi Debbie, Absolutely GREAT ADVICE. My suggestion was strictly based on a money saving approach. Working with quality does make a huge difference. I'm sure there are many that will take your approach and find their "ZEN" in this hobby. Buying budget -- and doing it well -- does take a little time to learn. You can buy a Diamond Art Club on Amazon for a reasonable amount so you can buy Premium on a budget. That would be an ideal start as well. Thanks for all your info and sharing it here for all to see. Welcome to the channel.

    Thank you. I have a question. Dollar tree has a puzzle sealer specifically for puzzles. Thinking out of the box, can I use that to seal my diamond paintings? Right now as a beginner I stick to very small or small projects. What do you say!

    Thank you for the information that you have given. I started diamond painting in 2021 but stopped. I have restarted the end of 2023. Is a canvas still good after 2 to 3 year?

    • @dustyscolourandart330
      @dustyscolourandart330 9 місяців тому

      Absolutely they are! I have one I started a couple years ago so the plastic was raised around the drills and even right against those drills it is still sticky. If you do run into a problem with the stick, you can put down some double sided tape or take a drop of diamond painting sealer and put a little on your canvas and put your drills on top. It will take a bit longer to dry but it will hold the drills down. Sorry this was so long

    • @SharingOurShine
      @SharingOurShine  9 місяців тому

      Hi there, Dusty (see below) is absolutely correct! Yes after 2 or 3 years the canvas will still work for you. If you find some "dry" non-sticky parts, I use Alenes Over and Over Tacky Glue to replace the stick. It is my preferred replacement "tacky stuff". Pull out the older canvases and jump right back in. So glad you're here and love it when we support each other in the comments. I'm so happy to be part of such a supportive community!
