Congrats to Sam and hope he enjoys his as much as I have mine. Hotdog you got a double Geez you were sick the last race and then you gave it to my buddy Commodore so I guess Sams going to catch it this time haha. Sure hope you can finally shake whatever gremlin thats hanging onto you this season. Mr Jon would just tell me to take a Midol haha. Thanks for the honesty and posting the defeats along with the wins. Get well soon. Stay safe
Tankerman thanks tank I really don’t know what got into me it really sucked though. Yes I got that tiny double! Haha. Didn’t think I would go for it. We have a race on Sunday I’m hoping I feel great, unfortunately i broke something on my bike and I will have to ride my YZ250. This should be interesting.....
bummer about the stomach, was a great ride and video thanks for posting what you did. I just uploaded my first ride back after cutting off my wrist cast lol if your bored =)
haha thanks. yeah it sucked. was honestly not even going to post the video but im not gonna be that guy that only shows the good. the last two laps i didnt post bc i was literally going 2 mph the entire time. i am bored watching some random GNCC Vet A riders race wondering if i could keep up lol... ill check yours out now.
I wish it was easier for a camera to capture the trail conditions and how much effort goes into riding. From my riding experience I know what the trails can be like and the energy it takes to ride fast and efficiently. You look like you've got a lot of skill as it is (obviously always room for improvement no matter how good you are) and I'd say your a better rider than me, granted I haven't been riding very long but still. Hope someday in the next year or two I can start doing some of the local enduro races around Colorado
you aint kidding man! the camera does the terrain 0 justice. i always get comments from people saying it looks flat and ur going slow. im like man u have no idea how rough the course is. if you look at the handlebars you can sort of tell how rough a course is by how much they are being jerked around. i would LOVE to come ride CO at some point in time. i see so many youtube videos of just breath taking views and single track out there. one day i will drive my butt out that way and do it
In a long race the "slower, longer line" may lose a few seconds at the time but you easily make up for it later because you used less energy. Same with rolling jumps. You use so much energy if you can't clear them clean that it's best to just roll them and accelerate like crazy.
You are right. I just don't like not being able to do things others can do. Too competitive and that takes over my thinking sometimes. My bike is so softly sprung that these MX tracks just destroy me if I don't go 1 mph or clear the jumps clean. I need to work on MX some more bc it seems like quite a few of my races have MX tracks in them. My buddy Sam that won is pretty decent at MX and he was telling me after the race how much time he made up on the MX track passing people left and right throughout the 5 laps he did.
Yeah I was really annoyed at myself for not finishing. I was just hurting really bad. It gave me this horrible stinging heart burn sensation after each burp and especially after I puked. It wasn't my normal series so I think that's another reason I pulled off. Man I really think about getting a 250f again sometimes. I am leaning more towards a 2020 250XC TPI though :)
@@SkinnySkinch 250xc is a sweet platform for sure. Looking forward to trying out a friends 300 tpi. He said it is night and day better than his electron equipped 17' 250 xcw. He already swapped in super heavy spring on the suspension, so that will be way out the window for me. I really liked the 17 xcw, but I never raced it. Big difference from a trail ride to a 2hr hs ,as you know.
@@markmtbrider absolutely huge difference in trail riding to racing. I LOVED my 350XCF but in a race? helllllllllll no. maybe a GNCC but even that id prefer a 250f. yes i had a 2018 TX300 with a lectron at the same times as my 300 TPI and it was just night and day smoother and better power. real hard to describe it's almost an electric like power it just never bogs or spits or sputters like a carb does when ur lugging. in the TX300 defense though i never spent any time messing with the suspension settings and my main complaint with it was it was too stiff and too snappy felt like a motocross bike to me. i could have thrown a 48 rear sprocket and softened up the suspension and probably made a huge difference. it never had a chance in my mind though against the TPI. i just wanted the TPI so bad. i held out from buying a 2018 bc i wanted a 300. glad i did because it seems the first year bikes had a lot more issues than the 19s.
Sucks getting sick like that man. You held it together longer than i would have. Was watching your clutch work and realized you must be running an auto clutch. How do you like it? Been thinking about getting one to ease up on my carpal tunnel, but they are so dang expensive. Good vid!
I have been running a rekluse for about 5 years now. I love them man. I get it that most people tell me it's making me a worse rider by not being good with the clutch, but, I get horrible arm pump in my clutch arm on bikes without a rekluse and I truly believe it gives you an advantage in the really gnarly slippery stuff. it just has great traction at low rpms bc it's ever so slightly slipping the clutch. theres of course the advantage of dropping your bike it won't stall either. 4 strokes it helps with stalling soooo much even flame outs a bit. they aren't for everyone, but if you get the model that I have most people can't even tell I have a rekluse unless I tell them I do. the bike doesnt not operate any differently and 0 loss in power like most people claim. it's just a smooth transition from off throttle to on which gives the sensation of less power sometimes. they are very expensive but worth it to me. I use the $700 version called the RADIUS X. I used to use the RADIUS CX which is the $1,000 version but my bikes brand new and the only difference between those 2 models is the CX replaces your inner hub and your clutch basket with stronger rekluse stuff. the stock stuff on my KTM was brand new so I didnt see a need to replace it. I have 60ish hours on this rekluse and have yet to make a single adjustment to it. and I LUGGGGG my bike lol.
rodie173 yes. Most would agree with that I just really like to ride a gear high. 3rd 99% of the race. Always lugging for a couple reasons, one bring traction, two for me is he energy savings. I love to ride on the pipe for short burst or fun trail ride but I just don’t have the conditioning to hold on to bike for 2 hours in a race. I’m working on it. Getting a 300XC this summer so at that point I’ll need to ride a little more on the pipe and not lug as much. Appreciate the comments!
rodie173 yeah it does man lol. I actually get these hand cramps too where my entire hand will lock up on the grips and I have to pry it off. Scary when that happens
(Taco hell?) Lol,anyway I'm 53 and just restored an 83 xr200r, you have inspired me to get back into this i have 1 minor set back i need boots, anybody have some ragged out boots size 9 , i live in zephryhills fla, love your vids
that's awesome! id love to see what that puppy looks like. in HS my best friend had a 1983 XR350r and that thing was a beast. Unfortunately I do not have any boots of that size. I do have some size 10.5s though?

Haha yeah man it was brutal. I am pretty sure drinking that spoiled fruity açaí blueberry drink right before the race is what did me in. I didn't really feel anything from the heat since I didn't push hard due to my stomach issues. My buddy that ended up winning our class said he felt sick afterwards def from the heat. How'd you do???
Dude i know all about it i watch ZackAtk1! you guys have some BRUTAL courses. i like it really technical sometimes.
