Real shame. Ended up importing stuff when we had plenty here. Remember mum telling me about the red dust. If you put washing out it was covered and your window never clean. Bet people were breathing it it. Real shame they took all railtracks up. We had the best railway system. Loads of things to do . Everybody knew each other and worked near to their work.
Consett steel works was awesome it’s just a shame it was wasted on consett. Full of lazy people. People who when they were on shift would be found out drinking around the town then they moaned when it all collapsed
