Power Joy Humor Resistance

In the last months, Monica Bonvicini worked on a new series of drawings based on the protest signs’ aesthetic.
The artist focused her research on politic and gender issues, using language as medium. Monica Bonvicini chose quotations from essays and poems that explores these topics, revising them in order to obtain a new form of poetics.
Even in “Power Joy Humor Resistance”, the neon sign conceived for the Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm, language is the main artistic medium. For this large-scale installation, Monica Bonvicini conceptually get inspiration from these recent multiple spray paint drawings, such as “And Resistance”.
The installation will be visible outside the Institute until February 28th, 2021.
