      @@pixelmentia I am! I think it’d be unfair to compare them because they are in different categories of handhelds for me. The Odin 2 is a great device to lounge around the house with, or when I want to carry a bigger bag, but it can’t beat the RP2S in terms of size and pocketability. And honestly? Hey! Just wanted to say I was in the same boat! I loved the RP3+ and just realized its too big and clunky, and I want the RP2s. Your video helped me see the size difference and seeing the same games I like to play run that good on it was helpful.

    • @crystal_is_cozy
      @crystal_is_cozy  9 місяців тому

      Ooh I’m so glad!! I hope you enjoy the RP2S! Something to consider, though: the RP2S is smaller but kind of thicker than the 3+ due to the (very excellent) analog triggers. So if you find the RP3+ clunky, the 2S may still not be a good fit. But everything else about it is wonderful.

    • @thecomiccurator
      @thecomiccurator 9 місяців тому

      @@crystal_is_cozy I've been on a binge of research and narrowed it down to either the RP2S metal or the Flip. I'm looking for the smallest of the bunch, which is the Flip.
      BUTTTTT the 2S has better sticks and controls and that is just as important as the size. Its a hard call. I can say though for sure, the RP3+ and 405m are just overkill for me in power, I don't want to go beyond n64 and ps1.
      I've also owned the 405v, and it was a chonk monster and just extremely hard to get working (flash requirements on the SD card was stupid)
      But ya, its between the 2S and the Flip. Both have qualities I want T_T

      @thecomiccurator can I ask whether you’ve considered other Linux based devices? Or is the draw that Android devices also do Android stuff?

    • @thecomiccurator
      @thecomiccurator 9 місяців тому

      @@crystal_is_cozy I preer the android stuff because of Retroarch. I just really enjoy it, and it makes CHEATING (lol) much easier on me and takes away the headache. The auto download and usage of specific functions like that in Retroarch makes it something I vastly prefer. Loading my own cores and such is something I like.
      I enjoy the double usage of the Android applications as well and its also why I really disliked the Anbernics, they made this an absolute nightmare, but the Retroids made it super easy.
      Being able to set custom options with Retroarch is what I want and I am not familiar with any Linux stuff. I've never used any device that was linux based.
      For me, at the moment, I've had a lot of the Anbernics and just never knew the Retroids were that good and easy. They did what I wanted. Its a toss between the Flip and the 2S for me, and Ill probably opt for which ever I can snag a good used deal on.

      @@crystal_is_cozy I've never used a Linux system, I am open to them if they are great. My intent was to get the smallest and high powered emulator device that can handle n64 and ps1. @Saad_Drawings 9 місяців тому +1

      @@crystal_is_cozyalot of retro tech creators has already covered about the flip in many aspects. But to me I felt the flip caters to me who has a small hand and my usage of the 2S and flip are super lightweight on me. My steam deck is never on a handheld mode since it's too bulky. So I try to enjoy smaller sized devices that can covers any long term gaming sessions with ease (as an artist I do also draw for many hours so that applies to art tools too). I would say if there is a flip 2 then it's a must buy for me. Your handheld grip is the priority when it comes to your comfort. Not the specs alone.

    Very well made and perfectly explained, thank you.
    I was on the fence between the Miyoo mini+, Anbernic rg35xx+/h and the Retroid Pocket 2s.
    I don't like bigger handheld devices and for that reason don't play my switch unless it's docked. A while back I bought the Pocket Go S30 which is kind of a relic now, but it was simple to set up and use. I upgraded to the Anbernic rg351v and enjoyed the premium build, but was disappointed by the PSP/N64 and NDS performance. I kept the 351v but I got the Retroid Pocket 2+ because of the hype.
    The RP2+ is great, but I want to get my girlfriend her own handheld for work/breaks or moments of boredom that nostalgia seems to fix. And my major dilemma was that it needed to be small, cute and easy to use... Which they all are, but you sold me with improvements on the original RP2+ and the Etsy grip/cover. I'll be going with neon green and powder green grip. 😁👍😎

      She had an original Game Boy as a kid, so that's why I considered the Miyoo mini+ I remember how popular the original was because of simplicity and great quality.
      The "new" rg35xx 2024 edition or rg35xx+ have basically the same CPU/GPU and RAM specs as the rg351v minus the thumb stick and a slightly smaller size. Honestly the 351v has an ok thumb stick and I never use it.
      I did enjoy the PocketGo S30 because of the landscape profile and I find myself leaning towards the Retroid Pocket 2+ more because of that same reason.... Sooo that's why I considered the rg35xx h or the Retroid Pocket 2s.
      The new hall thumb sticks look weird to me but I like that they relocated the dpad and thumb stick....
      Overall I think the RP2s is the better choice, because she will probably get more use from it playing android games and using apps.... And occasionally playing retro games like Pokemon Red or LeafGreen.
      I have no idea how long the shipping will take, the RP2+ took like 2.5months but I'll keep you posted. Again, thank you for the honest and helpful video. 👍❤️

      Like how much time? Not long for the bios, but SO long for the roms. I love to curate different roms lists based on my library and also my preferences. =D

    Sorry im not a tech guy. But if its android, how about the android support in the long run? Will it still support some apps? Or when almost all apps require high performance system will it get laggy?
