Way of the Cross Blessed Seelos on Good Friday 2023

A unique tradition that originated in Central America -sacred sidewalk images created out of hand-dyed sawdust - came to the Archdiocese of New Orleans in the 1990s and has continued yearly on Good Friday at Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Parish in the Bywater. Parishioners gathered early on Good Friday to sketch the "sawdust carpet" images that would be used later in the afternoon for the Way of the Cross. The cross carried by Jesus is dragged through the series of sawdust images.
