Love this! I grew up in Skokie in the 70’s and eighties. It was seriously like a John Hughes movie with the soundtrack and style. Skokie was a great place to grow up during that time. I went to Middleton, Oakview jr. High and Niles north for summer school. Until we moved away. Hanging out at Oakton park and taking the 97 to old Orchard was the best during the summer. Thanks mom and dad for giving me that.

The only pro-suburb video on youtube. I love it.

I'm not sure why this popped into my UA-cam feed, but glad it did. A lot of the images in your heartfelt video made me smile and reminisce; my birthday party at the Skokie Theatre, running the 50 yard dash in parking lot at what used to be Fairview South school, playing "lob" baseball and learning to skate at Laramie Park. I was actually raised on the other end of Jarvis Avenue from your home, from 1960 to 1970 or so, just after the "cookie cutter" homes were built. Back then, the blue office building across Niles Center wasn't present, and somehow there were pear trees mixed in with the other flora on that spot. The area between Jarvis and the Edens expressway was not developed during my grammar school years, and our gang from Jarvis and Sherwin would play back in the patch of woods there. The shopping centers you mentioned weren't there yet either, but our parents bought groceries at the Jewel behind Laramie park on Touhy, my Dad took me for breakfast at Jack's across the street, I got my first haircut just down a ways from there too... I live in Maine now, but returned to Jarvis Avenue, just to "feel" it, while I was visiting this past summer. So many memories, especially about Jarvis, I could go on and on....

When you think of a typical american suburb, Skokie pretty much tiks all the boxes. It's so great and comfortable. I really miss that place

Skokie has changed quite a bit since graduating in 2001, but it still feels like home whenever I'm there

I had a horrible experience at Fairview, so that part was hard for me to watch, but this is a beautiful video. I love where we’re from.
