As you know Portuguese language is not easy at all. But as someone from Brazil here is like haven because it is the same language but different accent but it’s very understandable for us, it s like wise American and British English it is not so hard to understand each other. Portugal is beautiful and sunny all the time and ease for you to navegante through others European countries. I love Portugal 🇵🇹
Observations: 1) Many (most?) Venezuelans that come to Portugal have PT ancestry as there was a big flow of Portuguese (mainly from Madeira) to Venezuela starting in the 1940s. They get citizenship and don't count as immigrants, so those 10k Venezuelan immigrants are probably just a fraction of the real number 2) We received HUGE numbers of immigrants from Romania, Ukraine and Moldova in the late 90s-early 2000s. They've all got citizenship by now, and many close family members who are coming now will probably have fast-track access to citizenship, so again the numbers for those three nationalities are probably much higher than the statistics show 3) Cape Verdeans and Brazilians have been acquiring PT citizenship in droves for some two or three decades by now, so I wouldn't be surprised if several hundred thousands needed to be added to the official numbers.
Interesting, thanks! I remember seeing articles in early 2023 that there were now around 10,000 Americans in Portugal. Are those incorrect? Regardless, I agree that it's a very small percentage.
Based upon the agencies, you get anywhere from 5,200-7,000, but they do not agree on this. I’ve heard from locals they feel there are more than 10,000 Americans here
Thought this information on who lives in Portugal would be useful to those thinking about moving to Portugal.

Wow, great information as always. I had someone message me a couple of hours ago stating he felt the numbers at INE and AIMA are not accurate.
I'm Canadian now living in a small village in Portugal. Like you say, we're few and far between...
Been fortunate to get to meet some Canadians here in Lisbon, and they often talk about how hard it is to meet others.
Great information, thank you.
You are welcome

The two agencies offer lower numbers, but, many say there are 10,000 or more Americans living in Portugal right now.
Thanks for the videos. Just curious. What were the American numbers you got from the two agencies? Thanks
