Bro, if people can’t get this clearly amazing teaching, they cannot be helped.

What I'm about to type isnt to take away from you but to help others that are still learning such as myself and believe me, you never stop learning. I'm 31 and have been drawing my entire life and I'm still learning too.
So when he is saying things such as you can think of the shapes of the body like an eye ball or whatever, like the collarbone and the jaw for example. That is just a clever way to do what artists have been doing and preaching for years. Simplification.
The whole thing you need to learn to become an artist is that you need to stop seeing symbols and representations of things and start seeing the acrual shapes ans angles that makes up whatever you're looking at *don't even get me started on perspective*
So when he looks at the clavicle he's channeling what a child might do. A child might look at something and say "hey that looks like this" and that helps their brains develop recognition and memorization. So he says "the claivle lookes like the eye of Zauron, or just an eyeball" that's simplification. He's simplifying the shape to something he already recognizes and is familiar wirh to create a shortcut in his brain. He knows he can draw this eye ball shape easy so all he has to remember is OK let's draw an eye of zauron... and then he has the clavicle. So then maybe he looks at the arms and views them as idk sausage links. So he's not drawing anatomy in his mind he's just drawing little doodles he is familiar with. But it's strategic you see. When put all together they represent the larger shape of a human being.
Then he goes back and fills I n the detail.
What too many people do including myself (for decades and I'm just breaking this habit now) is people draw the outlines of things. They look at complex structures like one giant shape and try to draw the entire thing all at once. Some people are really good at this or just really patient and they can create something that looks pretty close and fool people but eventually you get exposed. When perspective comes into play you're fucked because you can't draw the thing without seeing a referecence or knowing the anatomy. It's kinda like Momo in my hero academia. She can only make objects if she knows how they're made and how they function. If she only has a superficial understanding of the object it might not be very functional. She's basically a metaphor for an artist.
So you need to look at all the individual shapes that make up the object you want. No you don't need to know every muscle and every bone but it certainly helps the more you know. I've ruined far too many potentially great and fantastical drawings because I was too focused on getting details done right away and drawing a general outline when I should have been breaking down and simplifying everything.
And this doesent just apply to drawing and art. This applies to anything you want to learn and understand and drawing is just one way of man understanding and interacting with his world.
But you can honestly learn or teach yourself anything that you want to by applying the same thought process. Learning is just translating things that you don't know I to concepts that you do know.
So let's say you're learning a language for the first time what so you do? You beeak the language down into the most simple form. You learn the alphabet and how to pronounce the vowels first. Maybe you're learning Spanish and you start with the vowels ans you discover the A sound is always going to be the same A sound. You find a word that you know to compare it to. It's not a as in apple it's a as in taco. So you have taught yourself a fundamental of pronunciation and then you apply that to the other vowels.
This is how learning works. When you understand that you can begin to teach yourself how to draw everything. It's just a god damn shame we have only so many hours in the day, and only so many years left on earth. If only we had more time each person would be capable of mastering every skill they want. Including art. There are so many art forms to learn and so few minutes that sometimes it's best to just get a fresh canvas or sheet and just do it. So long as you firmly understand the fundamentals and can apply emotion you can bang out art pieces, make music, produce videos, write chapters whatever it is you do, one after another.
