Although "blan" means white. In Haiti it's used to describe a foreigner. You could be black and not from there and when you travel there they will still call you "blan". Also, you could be black and still be kidnapped. As long as you are an outsider and believed to have money you are a target. I have Haitian roots and always wanted to go but was discouraged because of the way I speak and the strong American accent on my Kreyol.
