    Thanks for detailed information. Sir if i want only 4 leds as D10 as Max and sort pin no 11, 12 and 13 with one LED, the same with another is this right approach. if yes any resistors would require for change.

    Excellent!! if we want to add a buzzer to announce "battery is low" and disconnect the load using a relay, how do we connect it? Can we connect it across D1 and ground. I strongly feel your circuit becomes much more useful with this added feature. Hope you will consider my request.

      You can replace d1 with a Buzzer that will indicate you
      You can also add a relay to perform cutoff

      @@TEKNOISTIX what if I want to use 12 leds total with this same ic and circuit say 3 red leds, 3 orange, 3 yellow leds snd 3 green leds. What will I need to change in the circuit? I am making a battery indicator for a 12v lithium ion battery (11.1v battery pack to be exact) and can I use 3914 ic instead with the same functioning?

      You can't
      As mobile will take only required current
      If you connect a 2 amp charger with annold mobile wiich was designed for 1 amp
      That will take only 1 amp from that charger

      Yeah exactly... It mainly depends on the phone regulators which draw current.. They have initial cut off when the current exceeds the required amount..

      It's always the load(in this case your Phone) that decides how much current it requires based on its circuit, It is always advisable to ensure the charger you use has higher capacity in terms of current capacity. If you observe the heat on your mobile charger when connected initially and when the mobile charge reaches 80% and more the heat will be less which means the your mobile (Load) is drawing less current when battery has reached higher state of charge. By this you can understand that it is the Load that decides current flow. If you connect a 2 amps charger it doesn't mean it is going to pump in 2 amps current into the mobile. This is a common misconception with many, they are scared to charge with higher capacity chargers. However voltage is critical here you can use a 12 volts charger to charge a mobile which has 5 volts battery.

      Yes it can be used for 12 v battery
      Limitation is it can supply max 1.5 amp current
      That is sufficient for 7 Ah battery but for larger batteries it needs to be upgraded
