If everyone will only buy renowned artists, new artist won't get a chance. And I disagree with the point that one has to know where the artist came from, or where he studied! I mean it's 2019...Art should transcend all barriers, boundaries, class, strata of society or even a degree. Art should just touch one thing, and that's the heART 💝

Self-expression is alright but one must also focus on the actual monetary value of the pieces that they invest in.

As an artist, I think I like this guy. Artists are fools not to bond with other artists, and so many of them DON'T.

Thank you Mr Farmani I very much enjoyed your speech. I am a collector of vintage pens that some belong to more than 80 years ago and so far I have made a collection of around 20 pieces, which are rare. How can I estimate the value for this collection? is the value set by the demand? for example a seller might value an item as high as he wants but isn't the value decided by the buyer and maximum amount of money that buyer is willing to pay? Do you have any recommendations on how to preserve items such as vintage fountain pen that they will not be damaged over time?
      Thanks again

I enjoy selling to people who appreciate my work for the value it brings instead thinking of it as some kind of investment.

I’m a collector, I’ve bought Art years ago that now would be considered pennies on the dollar. I think it’s a matter of luck and love.

If people want to buy the art because they like it they can buy the print, if they want to make money buy the original

I currently only sell original which means real scarcity 07:40 If I was to later become an household name, everyone who bought one in the past would experience the romantic "discovery of treasure"

I still dont understand why on earth anyone in the right mind would pay $58mil for that metal object?...its not something mechanical which perform or do something extraordinary but just a metal object that can be replicated to the same consistency for under $20 buck

why own something why not just appreciate it why go through all that rubbish about "is this exclusive" or "what's the status of the art/artist" to determine worth as if art itself isn't something subjective and by that definition unquantifiable I love art but don't understand the very boring mercenary industries erected around it

"Why own something"? By something, I assume you mean art? To ask that question, must mean you are definite;y not an artist! lol :-)
