Most artists say they knew they made it when Al parodied them...... sure hope the Beatles realized they made it by 1982.
Apart from John since he got shot in 1980!😢
Al has a story where he was at an LA party early in his career and Paul said “Holy shit! It’s Weird Al!”
Yes. You are funny.
@conandnamthemuffin4544 he heard in heaven via Gabriel.
Every Weird Al comment section has their genius comment, this is this video’s.
Parody without mockery is Weird Al's thing. There are exceptions but most musicians LOVE his parodies.
Weird Al is, quite seriously, a brilliant poet. His ability to find words that "sound" correct is unparalleled in modern music since, well, those kids from Liverpool.
@Dante Musico dude that comment is 3 years old
Hmmm I forgot that bands name, I think it was the Rutles
I've not heard anyone put it that way, but yes you are completely correct. I have seen him discuss writing lyrics, and more or less he gave the impression he writes them on-the-spot essentially, that is they come rather easily, he simply opens the lyric spigot.
@Dante Musico he's quoting all the old farts that referred to them using those words, dude. it's obviously a joke.
With brains like his, he could be anything he chose to be.
Thank God Weird Al can do what no other person is able to do.
2nd like wow hi leo
Leo?????!?!?!
YOOO ITS LEO!
The Thomas legend comments on a Weird Al video!? This guy has great tastes.
The, drum tones, the vocal chorus effect, the little insertion of the Pac-Man theme into the guitar solo slot... just genius. Al nails every detail. So good.
When are they just going to get it over with and give this man EVERY award, citation, and medal in creation?
I know right? I never ever seem to hear him on the radio or anything. It's like he was the celebrity that has been kept on the shelf for so long due to the next generation of other famous celebrities. But through it all, he was never forgotten.
#putalonradio
TinaMarie Corbo Every award includes Razzies. Don't give him that.
Legomaster Yoz True, but could you just imagine how much fun he'd have accepting that one!?! lol
Next year he's gonna get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We still need to get him inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Why he hasn't been yet is beyond me. I mean, he's lasted longer than almost everybody he has parodied.
Props to the bass player getting the bridge part right. Especially before the internet
This song is older than 50 years old? Wow, that’s crazy, since that’s how old the internet is.
@@bobroberts2581 ikr? everyone had the internet in 1983
@@bobroberts2581 I remember watching the Chicago bears rapping on an early version of UA-cam. Back in those days we had to listen to our podcasts on a thing called a radio. At 300 bauds, I used most of my bandwidth downloading Beatles tablature.
actually, it doesnt have the two notes at the end of each phrase like this has. Pretty close, but not quite!
Steve Jay is credited as his long time bass player, but I don’t know if that’s just for live performing or not. I would have assumed Al puts most of his studio songs together by himself these days with computer apps. 🤷🏼
_Taxman,_ the _Pac-Man_ clone, was released for the Apple II computer in 1981 (coincidentally the same year this Weird Al parody was released)... but the developer of the program, Brian Fitzgerald (whose employer HAL Labs was unconnected to HAL Laboratory which later became a subsidiary of Nintendo), was sued by Atari, which as part of the lawsuit was awarded the code to the program (and subsequently reworked) and re-released the game itself in 1983, under its Atarisoft brand, as _Pac-Man._
Al is the only one that can parody The Beatles, without making fun of The Beatles. Great job, as always!
Did a good job with
The Rolling Stones, too.
Apart from The Rutles
So I guess you're totally unfamiliar with the Rutles.
Or that Todd Rundgren album....
@@jamespuleo3269 The Rutles did make fun of The Beatles, though.
@@pappamojovcheroes2442 rutles made fun of the Beatles alot
A wise man once said that he who is tired of Weird Al is tired of life.
Hehehe I love that quote.
Weird Al is what sparks joy and gives me a reason to keep on keeping on. Not all heroes wear a cape. Mine plays the accordion
-Homer Simpson
love this
The Greatest has returned
The Meme Crusading Dolphin yep
The Meme Crusading Dolphin Has it has.
He never left!
Yes siree
The Meme Crusading Dolphin yes.yes he has😁😁
Can't believe it wasn't released in 82, definitely would have been a huge hit.
Weird Al remains leader of the Pac.
Shamus TheKnight subtle
It's almost as if he's "Too Pac" (sorry, couldn't help myself)
Shamus TheKnight he is the leader all
Musical reference! I love it! My school did it!
Wonka Wonka
I’d love to hear Paperback Writer done as something like “UPS driver” 😝
Why not Chicken Pot Pie to the tune of Live and Let Die? That's been requested so much that even Marshall Erikson from How I Met Your Mother wants it, and CBS doesn't do stuff like that if it's not popular.
@@amylee9092 cos Paul is a vegan or whatever and already shot that parody idea straight down
Technically there is a parody of Paperback Writer called Paper or Plastic
Door dash driver
@@amylee9092 there are recordings out there of early versions of chicken pot pie. Even performed it in concert for several years. He just couldn't get on the record, or wouldn't put on the record rather, without Paul's permission
the crazy thing is that theres is a pac man clone called taxman
You must be one of AVGN fans
@@hafizo_kurosaki I know I am one of those AVGN fans. Wish he could have played that game, while playing this track, while giving his pissed off rants about both.
Have you played pac man than you played taxman without even knowing it
@@Diamondsofmayhem don't think this song was released at the time
@@waycnf7229 this song was released in 1983, I believe, but god knows why AVGN didn't use it
The master of a very specific genre of music.
And that genre is called "every".
The type may be parody, but he has to master all types of music to do it right
I love the Beatles
Who doesn't?
I would love for him to make an Abbey Road polka medley, for the 50th anniversary of that album
This isn’t the Beatles, this is weird al Yankovic parodying the Beatles.
@@alextavalesthemuppetmaniac5607 _No-!_
I do too
I would never have had the courage to make a come back in my mid thirties and start making my own on-line variety comedy show without my hero Weird Al Yankovic! You have inspired me since I was 10 years old! Thanks so much for UHF and never stop the parody!
nice self promo dude
I never expected him to do a parody of The Beatles, but this was pretty funny honestly. Taxman is a really good song as well, it's one of George Harrison's best songs
Pac-Man, Gee I'm a Nerd, Chicken Pot Pie, This Song Is Just Six Words Long; every Beatle's had at least one of their songs parodied except Ringo.
@@Pentarax I know Chicken Pot Pie was going to be his take on Live & Let Die but what was Gee I'm A Nerd supposed to be a parody of?
@@andrewpappas9311 "Free as a Bird". It was a Lennon-written song that was unreleased for years. In the 90s, as part of the Beatles Anthology project, Ringo, Paul, and George cleaned the recording up, added their parts in, and put it on the album release.
@@Pentarax I do know Free As A Bird, great song but I wasn’t aware he parodied it. I’ll try to see if I can find it on UA-cam, thanks for letting me know about it
It’s a major injustice that “Weird Al” doesn’t have his own Sirius channel!
No one would listen to anything else. LOL
They don’t because it would bankrupt all the others
Nobody uses Sirius anymore
Pac-Man is getting up there in age but it's OK with Ms. Pac-Man because now he eats those new little blue pellets.
Chad Wild Clay lol
Your channel is amazing
Molly?
Pac-Man is 38, Ms. Pac-Man is 37.
Surprisingly funny joke from the weirdest channel on youtube
I NEVER CLICKED ANYTHING SO FAST BEFORE IN MY LIFE
Nina Harkin, agreed. Saw the notification on my phone and went straight to the iPad to view it...
hi
Nina Harkin SAME I just saw it in my suggestion box and I clicked soooo fast
Wow, was NOT expecting a Weird Al song that I hadn't heard before in my messages! This is awesome, though! My day just became a little bit better thanks to this!
Just met Weird Al a few days ago. Very nice guy! Awesome to see him making more classics!
So it turns out that the Pac-Man theme slots into the guitar solo of "Taxman" alarmingly well.
*Welcome Home, Big Al.*
Glad to have you back.
"take me to your leader", they said. "Weird Al", I said.
The Beatles is my favorite band from the 1960's
Weird al yankovic is my favorite band from the 1980's
The bassist nailed McCartney’s lines.
Oh man, I remember hearing this on an old Dr. Demento master disk. So happy to see this come back out.
Thanks for all the laughs over the years. You pick me up when I was down.
I love the Beatles, but this
this is godly
"I quit my job just to play some more."
It takes money to play Pac-Man. How will he swing that without a job?
"...I'm gonna sell my house today."
Ah, okay. That makes sense.
He should have used the money to buy a Pac-Man arcade machine himself instead
@@Nilo1310 then he won't have high score at the arcade.
@@neviatha yeah dummy
Holy crap this unreleased song that's now officially released has a good feel to it
Ikr
Think of the money he would have had with this hit at the time he wrote it! What a genius!
Ok I was wondering why I never was aware of this
I found a partial mp3 of this a long time ago.. it's great that you let this out of the box!! thanks and squeeze the box again!!
after 3 years we FINALLY have a new weird al song!!
I'm pretty sure this isn't new, I swear I've heard it before..
oh.
Dr Matt Phillips
You might be thinking of the original song, Taxman.
This isn't new
Sebastian, no I'm thinking of this parody specifically, I just googled it and yeah it can be found online, maybe Al might of also done it on tour? Not entirely sure about that last one but there's a video of this song on YT posted 10 years ago. Not entirely sure of the history beyond that but it hasn't been 'officially' released until now.
I want this to be a single so bad! It’s the Beatles, it’s Weird Al, it’s video games! It’s squeetastic!
Wow, working the Pac-Man theme into the mix while the song just happens to be in the same key. That's damn good.
This is great, when i saw it in my sub box, i was expecting a music video for a second, but this is still great to see Al posting again, i plan on buying the CD set.
oh my WEIRD AL VEVO IS BACK
hi
+Sonicfan 327 this song is old tho

what better new single than a parody of a song from 1966, its genius tho
The Walrus oh.
Your voice lends itself well to classic Beatles, love this!!
Strange... it's been two years since he's uploaded anything, he uploads something today, and without knowing I decide today is the day I'm going to binge his songs.
How can this man encompass so many musical tones into his repertoire.
You are truly the man Alfred.
Beatles and Weird Al in one song! I always wanted to hear a good recording of this! Really great!
This was great! Keep it coming Al!
Awesome song Weird Al, so glad you're back, you are one of my favorite artists!!! Thank you for making my childhood great! ^_^
Everything that's old is new again. Thanks for bringing an overlooked gem back, Al!
Weird Al, you're a freaking genius! Love all your works.
I’m a huge fan of Al and George/Beatles, so I’m astounded I’ve not heard this until now. Brilliant!!
This parody reminded me of "Because I got High"
BombbieGoBoomBoom same here Lmao
BombbieGoBoomBoom Strangely it reminds me more of the Beatles for some reason
Joseph Muehter that because it a parody of taxman by the beatles
It's not a parody of cuz I got high?
The guy singing it sounds exactly like Weird Al except he plays the accordion
I feel like the biggest compliment an artist could get back then was a weird al parody
That's nothing short of BRILLIANT! Thanks, Al. It made my morning.
He's alive!!!

I cannot believe you waited 36 years to share this gem. Shame on you, Al. I now know that I MUST have this collection.
Finally, we have a song after years of waiting! It's also a little sad that it's not a music video, just lyrics.
brilliant - the 8 bit pac riff is to die for.
Is there anyone else contemplating joining a Weird Al tribute band?
I like that little "Rally" background ditty. Nice touch, Al! Great song! :)
This guy has been on top of his game for almost 40 years ! Arguably the best parodist ever !

Holy fuck, i've been waiting for this to be released since the 80's, and im only 19.
I've been subscribes for a year and a half... It finally paid off!
Amazed that I have missed this until now. Perfection.
From information collected from the AVGN, there is actually a Pac-man clone named "Taxman". It appears we have just gone full circle.
"The Taxman" is also the nickname of video game developer Christian Whitehead.
The God Himself
Nope, Lemmy is God. Al is... just weird :D
StygianTraveler141 SHUN THE NON BELEVIER!!!!!!!
I was screaming when I saw this in my recommendations. Weird Al is back! :D
I was singing this song in my head a few days ago when I heard Tax Man playing and now it's in my UA-cam notifications. I would have never imagined this.
Classic weird al!!!!!!
Our lord and savior has returned
Brione yes
+Brione this song is old tho
Your profile picture is Yoda.
1. Yo yo yo yo Yodaaaaa!
2. You should've said, "Returned, our lord and savior has."
I have wondered if this is an unreleased song Al might not have gotten clearance to release in the past. Not only is licensing Beatles music (for parody or not) very expensive, but the way some Beatles fans hate covers of Beatles music without question & consider the original recordings the word of God, they would have likely threw a fit. "How dare he send up the Beatles?"
OMFG HE'S BACK
HOW IS THIS NOT TRENDING AT ALL?!
This was a nice surprise. Love the song.
That's so weird! I was just watching a video arcade games and thinking about Weird Al 0_0

Well now I feel stupid because I just checked the description and this was recorded in 1982 :/
There actually isn't any good music around these days apart from the odd Bruno Mars song. It's all auditory dogshit with dancing naked girls.
That never stopped him before.
tarikbegovic I agree. His originals are awesome. He's the best artist on earth. Hardware Store is a personal favourite.

One of my all time favorite Beatles songs gets the Weird Al treatment. Good Job, this Beatles fan and Weird Al fan most certainly approves.🙂
And did I mention I used to play Ms. Pac-Man a lot in my youth? Well, I did.
Now if only it was available for sale for less than 200 dollars (you have to buy the box set of every album he's ever released to get the bonus tracks album).
Awesome. What a good parody. Thanks.
I can't believe I've not heard this one before. What a bloody brilliant parody!
I scrolled down and I was just like wtf is that weird al???? Now I'm happy
