This sling like the Atom needs a water bottle mesh on the side. That material will also not keep anything dry inside for more than a minute in a rain.

The phone compartment doesn’t make sense. Your phone can fall out from the pocket when you rotate the sling bag. Removing zipper was a huge mistake

Looks like an indirect successor of the much loved Lightweight Atom Sling. But why is there no mesh bottle holder on the side?
I would immediately go grab one if that feature were there.

The top of the cell phone pouch is stiff and tight so the phone shouldn't fall out but we can see why you might prefer a full closure. Our product testers haven't had an issue with it, but we'll be happy to pass your feedback along to our design team!

@@patagonia appreciate the reply - it really looked like slinging it over the shoulder like that would just send the phone flying out. Happy if the closure would prevent that but would need to be confident in it I think - be interesting to find somewhere to test this out.

Of course, that is a legitimate concern. Phones vary quite a bit in size and shape but we can verify from direct experience that the iPhone SE stays snuggly in the pocket, even without the closure. Hi Elisabeth! This sling measures: 13.4" x 10.25" x 3", so it might be too small for a 13" MacBook Air to fit and be carried safely.
