Thank you for showing how to install the snaps! I bought a package of Sontax brand snaps at the home improvement store. The instructions on the package were not clear. Your video helped me to understand how the pieces fit together. Your guidance ensured a successful repair.
Ms.Gratz!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have a daycare and all of the bibs that I've purchased in the past have velcro. The cost for the snap button bibs, compared to the velcro is ridiculous! So after 18 years of being in this business, I just thought of putting on snap buttons myself. This video will help me tremendously! Thank you for doing this video. I really appreciate it!
I was just looking at my snap kit that I bought from Amazon, and no, I’ve never used it. But I checked it out and I was right. But I watched your video twice, just to make sure. Thank you for your time.
watch out Thor ! When I put snaps on thicker leather I have to make the holes a little bigger so the snap sits flush and seats well. I use a tapered tool that stretches the leather just enough to allow that then the leather gets tight again when the snap is set. Rocket Science !

What can be done if the post will not sit any tighter against the socket? I am using the same tool kit (from General) for the same nickel plated snaps. I keep hammering but the post will not curl down flat enough for the snap to work.
What is the length of the button's barrel, is it 11/64", 1/4" or 5/16" (just give me the Sailrite item number, if that easier for you)? Then how many layers of fabric are you installing the snap into? Finally which snap installation tool are you using from Sailrite?
Nickel plated brass or Stainless Steel which should you use? Both work well and are approved by Sailrite for marine use, even in saltwater conditions. However Stainless Steel is slightly more corrosion resistant than nickel plated brass and Stainless Steel is a stronger metal, so it is often considered a slightly better snap.. With that said most of the OEM boats use nickel plated brass over stainless steel snaps. Why? They are cheaper and easier to install than the SS.
I was given this link to for instructions to install the snap set I bought, these are nothing (kinda) like what I bought. Umm er. So after lots of trial and miss I got the snaps to work. BTW, these are not the cheapest.
You must have the anvil or it will not work. If it was purchased from Sailrite please contact us with your order number and we will resolve that issue.
@@SailriteDIY Thanks but it wasn't Sailrite, got it on Amazon from company called Seloky...appreciate it though, I've ordered a set from a different company with just the tools...Thanks again...
Is there anyone that used this a couple of times and still come back to the video ? That’s me. Always have to come back to figure out which is which. 😄
If the snap barrel splits it usually means they are a cheaply made snap. Sailrite only offers the best quality snaps from DOT, the barrels of the Sailrite snaps do not split.

I have an item that contains metal snaps, and I'd like to find the correct, matching snaps that go with it. How does one go about doing that?
Thank you!! I purchased the snaps, but couldn't find instructions on how to use them. They may have gotten lost. Thank you for the Video!!
I can't get the first one, only the second part
I have this exact same little kit. So I should not confuse this with rivets and rivet installation?
Please tell me you guys sell a kit. I dont want to spend the next hour trying to figure out all the items I need to put in my shopping cart.

Does the snap always have an “unfinished” looking side?
I think you are asking about a snap eyelet. Yes, it does look unfinished.
Can one apply this same principle to making a hole in wood?
Could nonmetallic snap button
Where you buy that tool
What so you recommend for stainless fasteners?

Can you combine the male and female snaps together like reversible? I'm trying to fix my mss sleeping bag.
I am sorry, I do not understand the question. Can you email me a photo of what you are trying to do? eric@sailrite.com
Why not stainless steel?
The choice is yours. Nickle Plated Brass or Stainless Steel Snaps. Stainless Steel is the best choice, but nickle plated brass is still a good choice.

Hey, thanks! Managed to make a nice knife case for a friend with a brass snap contrasting with the dark leather. Looks great!
Do you sell a snap system for leather work?
Perfect I bought a lot from Amazon but had no idea how to use it. This is perfect
I'm glad you found the video helpful!
Show as the used whith steel please
Cool video but I will say , she needs a bigger mallet if there is one in this universe.
There is only one hammer larger, and THOR is using it... lol

What difference between nickel plated and stainless, which the nickel is necessary?

@@SailriteDIY Thank you, I had the same question
Watching this after the fact that I put alot of fasteners together on a jacket! Pretty strong fasteners!
This will fit on 10mm thickness?
If you use a snap with a barrel length of 5/16 inch it will accommodate thicknesses of up to: From 11/64" to 1/4"

Um....I how can I get the snaps to attach with just a hammer....
Well you need a snap fastener installation tool and a hammer. Then they can be installed.
My kit came without the Anvil, so guess it's usless unless I can figure out another way to use it without...Thanks...

SANGAT MEMBANTU. TAPI SAYA TIDAK TAU DIMANA MEMBELI ALAT UNTUK MEMASANG KANCINGNYA 😫
I can tell from the narrators voice..you can take his word these are good button snaps.
🤣
Very nice 😅 2:21
It would be better if they showed the parts more. Her hands cover up too much.
great video...my snaps are in place but when i hit them (sockets) with a hammer with the tools they seem to split....
If the snap barrel splits it usually means they are a cheaply made snap. Sailrite only offers the best quality snaps from DOT, the barrels of the Sailrite snaps do not split.
duh !
you need a bigger mallet
Screw the setters, I want that mallet. Looks like it came right out of the forge of Hephaestus.
You can purchase that mallet here: www.sailrite.com/Mallet-Hammer-Style-3
