Holy shit. This is probably the best quality camera (4K or otherwise) that I've ever seen on a drone like this.

  • @dronesparky501

Holy crap! The video quality is almost comparable to my mavic 2, and this is at a sub-$300 price! Obviosely it is missing some other features the mavic 2 has, but I would still reccomend this as a great drone for any beginner!

Yet another great video Captain. I love your honest/no time wasting/no gimmicky "youtube persona" approach. Hubsan is, in my opinion, a great company. I still fly my 501 even though I have had a mavic air for some time now. Keep up the great work.

This was possibly the best flight and review of the Hubsan I've seen. It flew so well...no dropping in height. I'd like to see a distance rth...or loss of video signal rth.

Hi again Cap , Its a nice morning again in east Tenn . I've been waiting on you to review this drone for a while now . I own one of the H 501SS by HUBSAN and it also is a good drone . You don't know how many reviews I've seen on the ZINO , and none have got the precision landing to work . Mainly I think it was the updates not working but at last yours did . Now you give me a reason to order one of them , it seems like they have finally got a lot of the bugs worked out ....Thanks for the great review , and as always keep the vids coming ...

    • @Ambress
      @Ambress 5 років тому +1

Mark, I'm in East TN also...Kingston....and with my new Zino flying the precision landing 3 times today, one was dead-on as it landed on the orange side of a landing pad, and straddled the edge of the pad on the next two efforts, one for blue and one for orange. I find that the Zino hovers longer above the orange pad by a significant margin vs. the blue pad where it seems happier to land sooner.

@@Ambress thanks for the feedback , I've wanted to order a ZINO for a while now but seen the reviewers talking about horizon tilt and no sensors and a short max range , and various other probs . But now it seems that HUBSAN finally got it together and its working good so I'm Definately ordering one now . Know anyone that would want a H 501 S reasonable ???? Just kidding ...lol...

@@markgreene9330 no doubt the Zino's range leave much to be desired by many, but at least for the white model, I'd say the 1km range for FPV is pushing the limits of what I can readily keep an eye on, much less find again if I shift my view elsewhere, especially against a cloudy sky. Mine will be getting a dose of reflective tape to see if that aids visibility in the distance or not. I remain very impressed by the results I'm seeing from the camera.

Hello, I still have my Hubsan Zino 117S drone, it's almost 5 years old and still flies well but with new batteries, with little stability in tighter places but flying higher we make a beautiful flight! Despite using the DJI AIR2S for 3 years, I still do some flights with the Hubsan. Just to say that I've never had any problems with Hubsan Zino... Hugs.

Great review as always! I’m leaning more towards this over the Bugs 4. I was leaning to the FIMI X8 SE due to all of the issues with the Zino at first but now that I’ve seen more current reviews, I feel like the Zino is the happy medium. Thanks again for a very down to earth and honest review.

Hubsan has made great improvements to this drone. It has a ton of problems in the beginning and it scared a lot of consumers away including me. I ended up buying a Phantom 3 pro instead for almost the same money. I don’t regret it but now that the Zino is looking pretty good and I would have bought it if the problems were solved earlier. Thanks for the great review Steve. 👍👍👍

Great value for the buck. Unfortunately for me I went through all the bad times with my original pre-ordered Zino. What a problem child it was. I learned to love it over time as each firmware update made it incrementally better. Just as it reached the point where it was really showing it's manners however my original battery had a catastrophic failure and discharged suddenly and completely at 300 feet. All things considered I would recommend the Zino to any intermediately capable pilot (beginners might get into trouble with the flaring stops, etc.) I strongly recommend buying a battery charger that will condition your LiPo's and give you a full readout on each of the three cells...because if one of them starts to go it can drop from the sky without warning. I would buy another Zino in the future...but I'm having too much fun for the time being with the DJI Spark I bought to replace it

I recently became very interested in getting a drone. Honestly, your reviews are very helpful. This Zino is just right on the camera quality, stability and price. Hopefully this will be a perfect film starter drone for me. I know there is one or two drones out there slightly better than this, but it comes with two batteries, accessories, for just 330.. Definitely using your code. crossing fingers it all works out for me.

Thanks Captain! As always, a great and honest review. Thanks for keeping us updated. Convinced me! Replaced my Typhoon H with the Zino. Flies just great and the the camera is just superb. Greatest improvement ...100% more portable! Typhoon is a handful to transport, specially in comercial aircraft (onboard). Too big. As a RC flyer for over 30 years now, sensors are not so indispensable. If you know how to fly, you value speed, manouverability and a great camera on board. Zino meets all that at a superb price! Will take it to the Peruvian Andes in one month. Will report on how it flies at 5000 meters and 0-1degree celcius temperature.

UPDATE. Never received my drone. Geekbuying is issuing a refund (against my will. I said I wanted the product, but they gave me no option). After having my money for 2 weeks they said that they cannot ship products with batteries out of Hong Kong (If that is true, they would be out of business). Nice review with good coverage of basic operations Captain! For fellow users new to the Zino and using a landing pad with tie-down loops that you might ignore using, be sure to tuck them under the landing pad. Otherwise, you're at risk in precision landing of the Zino's low rear propeller blades catching a loop and doing some acrobatics on the ground...mine flipped and proceeded to spin the propeller blades against my concrete driveway, escaping with minor blade damage and scuffs, but none required replacing.

Well here we are, months after you posted it, and I just got myself a Hubsan H117S Zino almost solely as a result of watching this video. And after flying it for a couple of days in not the best of weather, my mind is totally boggled. I'm still waiting for my new Fimi X8 SE 2020 to arrive and while I was waiting I thought that I'd get myself a Zino. I found a new one on the internet at a very attractive price that ended up not being delivered (and me being refunded) because the price was obviously too low for the supplier to make anything out of it. But it did me a favour because I then found another in the local small ads even cheaper that's as good as brand new in every way and after loading all of the latest firmwares, all my hopes and dreams for it have been realised. The 4K 30 fps videos I'm getting on my PC are as good as any and better than most I've seen on UA-cam. The gimbal is rock-steady in even the fairly high winds I've been flying it in over the past couple of days and the video quality is simply stunning. Yes, the drone does 'move around a bit' when you first take off and at very low altitudes and we all know why - it has no downward facing sensors. But hey! It's not for flying around at high speed and performing lunatic antics close to the ground. If you want to do that, please choose another model. But if you are looking for the same as me, a video platform that will do your work justice, look no further. That's what this drone was made for and that's the role in which it excels. If I hadn't ordered and had delivered a number of accessories for my long-awaited Fimi, I'd probably now cancel the order. But I won't and look forward eventually (soon I hope) to being able to compare the two models. The Fimi will have to do very well to beat the Zino in the role that I want to use it for.

    Sport Mode is working!
Thats for all the people on all the videos out there saying the sport mode is broken.
I do not understand why so many people are unable or unwilling to read the manual.
The Sport Mode does NOT increase the max speed of going forwards or backwards. It's increasing the speed of all the other axis.
With the current firmware this feature has become obsolete because you can configure the speed of all the axis inside the X-Hubsan App now.
So ignore the switch and have fun with this drone.

aint the Anafi a 2+2 and not 3+3.
Recall the Anafi are with 2s batteries and 2axis gimbal and not 3s battery and 3axis gimbals like fx Zino or Fimi X8 or Dji Mavics lineup who also are 3+3.
but as electronic stabilization gets more and more potent, the lack of Axis-motors doesn't mean as much and 2s batteries also result in way lower weight and it doesn't look like the Anafi lacks power.

I think Captain Drone is the best drone reviewer I have come across so far. He actually shows plenty of clean footage captured by the drone. Other reviewers overlay the footage with the phone's screen recording for the entirety of the video. Others just show the drone footage in the corner of the screen. I mean, that doesn't help because a low-resolution video can look good when viewed on a small screen so you can get the wrong expectation of the footage quality.
    Thanks for your great videos!

I was pleasantly surprised when I got mine.
from different videos online, my impression of the TXsticks and the plastic on the controller from other peoples footage, I thought it was more toy-grade plastic then it, in fact, was when checking the tension on the sticks..
      imgur.com/UdR5tnW
      imgur.com/ijB1sxJ
The X8 controller is on another level imo but those FIMI X8 TX alusticks with rubber does give it an exclusive DJI-feel.
But I do like the Hubsan branded bag, makes it easy to take along.
One thing that ain't impressive in the Zino is that balance charger, pretty unbalanced cells, but most people got a thirdparty charger they can fit some with some powerleads..

I have to say, this looks like a fantastic bargain. Yes, it doesn't have the fancy ground sensors but it really seems like it doesn't need them. Video quality is very high too. Active track is not great, but it at least has it. It is also kind of slow, so not great for "sport" filming or fast flying. But for a beginner or someone who just wants a 4k camera platform, or for something to tool around in the backyard or with the family it is fantastic. Also, that RTH feature using a landing pad is really impressive!
When your other choices are over $500 for similar function, the Zino really stands out as a bargain, especially now that they seem to have fixed the software issues with it.

Hubsan is getting so confusing now. They have the Zino, but apparently for there newer version of Zino (not Zino Pro) they have changed some stuff in the internals and on software it is called Zino-Y. So many people are getting confused and updating there drones software basically bricking the drone. I don’t understand why Hubsan has changed some small parts of the Zino and not tell the consumer cause updating the software on the new drones that have been shipped screws the drone up cause the software is not for the new drone. Please be aware I am not talking about the Zino Pro. But the Zino which hubsan has kind of changed internally which has screwed up comparability with its own hardware.
