    "Whenever tracking down propaganda, get as many different points of view as you can."
    Social media's primary goal is to make that impossible.

      Respectfully, I feel the opposite. Social media has allowed many people to post their idealisms online for all to see. You can easily go on any platform and find a variety of viewpoints an opinions. Before social media, I think it was very hard for people to voice their opinion, and let others hear it. And not only hear it, but be able to challenge it and critique it. Althought, Social media has negatively impacted the way in which we may critique one's opinion, it still allows us to do so.

      @@Brutus-co9dt Nobody said not to do actual research. I'm a damn historian, I know more than the average Joe about doing research. I never said that Facebook is the best place to get your information from, I did say thought that social media has allowed us to more easily share our own personal opinions and thoughts. If you think that people sharing their opinion is a bad thing then maybe you should search some of your well documented sources for the term "fascism"

    • @d.w952
      @d.w952 4 роки тому +1

      @SOVEREIGN HUMAN Gaslighting is using manipulation, contradiction, denial etc to make somebody doubt themselves and believe you or what you say instead over time. For example, you can look at the origin of the term "gas lighting" which came from a movie called "Gaslight". A woman's husband tries to convince her she is insane by denying statements she makes, writing them off, and by changing their environment by slowly dimming the gas light in their house over time but acting as if nothing has changed. In the end I am assuming the wife would feel like she is in fact going insane, when really she was right all along and her husband is just messing with her psychologically.
      Another smaller, less realistic but to the point example, perhaps you insist that you had blue icing on your birthday cake 5 years ago. I could tell you that's silly, it was purple. I could photoshop a picture of the cake to be purple and show people to tell them how stupid you are, and they might treat you differently in turn. I could ignore you when you tell me it's blue, or blame your faulty memory for forgetting something so basic. In reality, the cake was blue, you were right, and I was just being a manipulative dickhead for no reason.
      You might have had this happen to you at points in your life to varying degrees, but hopefully not :)

      @SOVEREIGN HUMAN fear, uncertainty and doubt

    • @AntiAtheismIsUnstoppable
      @AntiAtheismIsUnstoppable 4 роки тому +1

      @SOVEREIGN HUMAN is an appeal to fear aimed at a person, group of people or entity in order to make them believe they will have to do what you say, or else something bad will happen, despite this is not true. Used in product marketing, very much in IT and later in politicis.
      Using FUD you can make people give up their constitutional rights, because they're fearful that the alternative will be worse.
      For example, if you want to be the dictator of the world, taking away people's right by force, will have unpredictable consequenses; a lot of people might fight back, and the time period for taking over the world is uncertain, while if you give people an untilmatum using FUD, you can make people give up their rights themselves and with no blood shed. In such a scenario, the vast majority of people will *_want_* to give up their rights.

    • @chomo54andbabyaisha97
      @chomo54andbabyaisha97 4 роки тому

      @SOVEREIGN HUMAN It's the sophisticated version of _"an offer you cannot refuse."_ Because the goal here is not to threaten the victim directly with violence, it is to make the victim believe that you do him or her a favor with your "offer", such that they will be thankful to you, even what you do is actually a kind of black mailing, and they might be better off without your "offer".
      Such example is Microsoft phone scammers. Some indians call you on the phone and tell you that your computer is infected with virus, but luckily for you these people who "work for Microsoft" have the solution for a "small fee".
      You should search "microsoft phone scammers" on youtube, it is excellent to study exactly how FUD works in smaller scale, and believe me, it is effective. The only effective way to fight FUD is knowledge. Meaning that your knowledge is greater than or equal to the scammers.

    • @sharronneedles6721
      @sharronneedles6721 3 роки тому

      anyone who has to proclaim themselves as a "real american" in order to get votes, uses the comfort in cultural similarities to win votes. And therefore proclaims himself as elite and better because he is a "real American". May I remind you that anyone who runs for a high standing in America must be an American citizen, so therefore anyone running for said office is a "real american". Or is it that you're using the term "real american" to refer to something entirely different, if so what is the idealism that you're referring to?
