Great reaction, Adam :) Can I also point out a few more storytelling elements that you might not have noticed. 1: Obviously, the train is a metaphor for moving on. If he can't bear to live without his wife, he will catch the train. In the end he chooses life and lets the train leave without him. 2: The director chose a platform that looks onto a junkyard, reinforcing the character's bleak outlook 3: He walks alone and the director chooses an angle that makes it clear that this is an 'uphill struggle'. 4: The trees are bare and bleak, "Like Trees in November" as the chapter in Watership Down, says. 5: And then you will notice that the trees on the wallpaper in his wife's room are also bare. This is not an accident. 6: He gives his wife tulips, traditionally an expression of perfect love 7: When he passes the 'recipient' in the park, he is again walking uphill, while she is running down. I am sure I've missed other things, but I was blown away by this performance by Lewis and the skill and sensitivity of the filmmaker Phil Beastall. Cheers mate - BH
Nice video!! My dad died this year in April unexpectedly at only 58 after what we all thought was a standard operation. He slipped into a coma for three weeks and never woke up. I lived with him and he was my best friend. This song and video hits home. We were so similar and im nothing like the rest of the family. It's been the most horrific time of my life and I still can't believe this is life now. If he saw how my family left me to deal with all his arrangements and pay for his entire funeral, he would be disgusted but I know God sees everything. One of my sisters became angry at him that he didnt have funeral insurance when she was asked to help pay towards flowers as if he wanted and planned to die. People make me sick. Nothing is worse then death! Its so cut throat and final. Theres no second chances. Its done. Its over. With a break up you can still send them a text or letter expressing your feelings even if you know you may not get a response, but at least you can clear your conscious that they read or heard your feelings. With death there is only agonizing lessons and reflecting on the past. You can never move forward just learn to live with the grief.

He reminds me of James Arthur so much too, in the strength and texture and emotion he can give to a song. It was beautiful to see your reaction, that moment when you realized in the music video about the woman’s heart. Thank you for not editing it out ❤️
What Lewis is trying to say is that he's been writing songs specifically about his past relationship that he no longer has. So, instead of limiting his writing about an ex, he broadened his writing and wrote something about loss in general so that others could relate the song however they wanted. Instead of it just being about someone that broke up with their girl or boyfriend, it can also be about the loss of a loved one that died.
He is insanely talented. Loved the reaction and how emotional you were with it. You need to react to him singing this live. Pretty much little to no difference, it’s crazy!

Watched your face intently as you continued the video and the lady put Peter's hand on his wife's heart, saw the exact moment the enormity of the message hit you. In 2019 my husband had a very aggresive leukemia, Acute Myloid Leukemia. Strangley I was listening to this before he got sick, my daughters the day after he passed and we all chose it. My son picked Danny Boy. Sorry that went on longer than I meant.

Love your reaction to the video. I totally lost it as well. Was thinking about my mother that past away last year. His voice is unbelievably emotional ❤️
The Genius video is him talking about his songwriting and the lyrics, so he was reciting the lyrics for the benefit of the discussion, so it's not really fair to analyse his singing from this as a performance.
I think i've watched this video almost as many times as the Lewis Capaldi\Peter Capaldi version. I was fortunate, like you, to watch the video without ever hearing the song before, or knowing anything about the video. Only one line in, & you've already gained a new sub. You're a delight. 💕
It hit me like a ton of bricks too I lost my 22 yr old daughter in 2019 this song for some reason pulled my heart out…
When you wanna ask if he can react to a video but you can’t because he literally cried😭
When you realise what way the story is unfolding it just hits you. Phenomenal stuff
I started crying when you were crying

I can't stand to see people crying!
Don't cry baby!😍😍😍😍
música realmente triste, cantada com a alma. parabéns pelo react muito sucesso para você!⚘🇧🇷♥️
I watched the original video before I saw your reaction video. I was thinking, "you are so not ready for how this is going to hit you" as I listened to you comment on Lewis' voice. Watched your face intently as you continued the video and the lady put Peter's hand on his wife's heart, saw the exact moment the enormity of the message hit you. Glad to see a man who can still feel that much emotion. I know you need it after seeing that. I did. Thanks for posting your reaction video.
I always cry with the song of Halsey for a little girl with cancer, got me every time.
It's called 'for Ruby'
In 2019 my husband had a very aggresive leukemia, Acute Myloid Leukemia. Long story cut short, we had three songs at his funeral, Danny Boy same as at his mum's funeral, Your never walk alone (Gerry and the Pacemakers chosen by my husband decades ago and this song Someone you loved. Strangley I was listening to this before he got sick, my daughters the day after he passed and we all chose it. My son picked Danny Boy. Sorry that went on longer than I meant.
I first heard the song on the radio and it tore at the heart strings as you described. Without seeing the video I assumed it was about the difficulty in a breakup or loss of someone special. You warn us that it’s emotional and getting the full story was overwhelming. And of course thanks a lot for your reaction-the entire planet was in tears once you started! Keep up the great reactions!
Bless you, bro.
I've shed many many tears to this video and a great deal of them beside you.
I wish you love.
this is actually like the first time when i found the song, crying out loud
you can tell the moment he put two and two together the tears followed suit
The video said “🙍🏼♀️👨🏼🖐🏼❤️” and I said “😢”
Love your reaction to the video.
I'm dont usually cry to songs or films or anything, but this one got me
There are some great live versions out there too. One where hes at a firehouse playing a guitar.
I've been listening to this in the radio thinking it could be James Arthur but knowing for sure who it was.
Yes, I've been living under a rock.
Such a beautiful song. I cried with you friend. Love this song now.
Lewis is such an emotional singer
Wow this reaction was so emotional! Also. You should listen to Senorita maybe that’ll cheer you up
I love the way this song moved you. Just beautiful.
You need to watch him live on James Corden, amazing!
I think i've watched this video almost as many times as the Lewis Capaldi\Peter Capaldi version. I was fortunate, like you, to watch the video without ever hearing the song before, or knowing anything about the video. Something very beautiful about watching your mind work, trying to figure out the meaning of the video, and then to be hit with the realisation. Best reaction video by a long shot. Honest and heartfelt.
this is the first video i’ve watched of yours, and i love this song and everything about this video too. but lemme tell you, that plug was slick for your lessons
I've seen this video a few times now. I just realized that he didn't "miss" his train. He was going to the train station to "feel" the heartbeat he was listening to in his headphones.
I always thought that he was going there to commit suicide in front of the train. But the thought that his wife brought life to someone else pulled him back from the edge.
*THE INTRO HAD ME IN TEARSS*
*SO PRECIOUS*
Lewis is doing all us Scots proud! Just seen him play last night in Edinburgh, what an unreal guy
