@@GiltleyRage It could have been great but Destiny came to debate vs have a conversation. How do you try to debate someone after saying you don't know anything about the case.
Destiny is correct. When Candace says "I'll pray for you." it is meant as an insult. She knows this, despite her forked tongue. "Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven." Matthew 6:1
since when was that an insult 😭. misinterpreting the Bible wont help you either, as this verse refers to boasting about your deeds/practicing righteousness for the sole purpose of being seen by others. The same idea is held in Islamic doctrine as it says so in the Quran, "Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Verily, I am commanded to worship Allâh (Alone) by obeying Him and doing religious deeds sincerely for Allâh's sake only and not to show off, and not to set up rivals with Him in worship" (39:11). Misconstruing religious scripture wont work 😁
He’s not saying that. But saying that if you’re poor, you typically get out of college with much less than $100,000 in debt. It’s more like $30,000 for bachelors. She’s using her specific example when most people go to instate collage for much cheaper than she paid for an out of state school

what does that even mean? the government is made up of people, any cultural influence would come from a deeper level. but I know you guys love to vaguely blame “the government” for everything
The government influences culture plenty. What it doesn't have is control over society to such a fine degree they can decide what music teenagers like by psychic order. The government can barely control its own departments and infrastructure half the time.
Lol look it up. FAFSA covers a lot, not usually all, but wouldn't make you stuck with $100,000 worth of student loan debt for 4 years of college, especially if your parents are low income. FAFSA covers 12 full-time student terms (or 4 years) so it wouldn't help with grad school but DEFINITELY under grad which is what it sounds like Candace finished. It takes your tuition and income and takes off a certain percentage of tuition based on you or your families income. There's also a PLETHORA of grants and wavers to apply for that would help you with anything from tuition, school supplies, class payments, outright cash assistance, etc. The total percent student financial aid can cover is around 40-50% of tuition and sometimes the whole tuition can be covered... Candace complaining she had to pay back her FULL student loan debt is ridiculous if it were true her parents were low income. She should have had loooots of help paying that. But it sounds like she either didn't want the help/decided not to go to a counselor/decided not to file for student aid or is outright lying her family was low income. If she outright decided not to see a counselor/get help/get student aid at the time then she shouldn't be blaming the schools, the counselors and the government. If I were her I'd wanna kick myself in the ass for being a dumb teenager making my future self pay THAT much.
He must 😂 I usually agree with destiny on most things but… I went to school and got a certificate and that cost me 15k. My family was dirt poor.. like father on disability with a broke back and grandma getting SS. All together I think it was like $1700 a month we had to live on for 2 adults and 2 kids. The only way we survived was food stamps tbh. The FAFSA and Pell grants do not even pay for half of it. This was a crazy ass take for him to ask is she was lying about it!!
Technically FAFSA will cover it, but FAFSA is not a single thing. FAFSA is the program that includes grants and loans. The typical grant is the Pell grant, which... back when Candace would have been in school, the maximum would have been less than $7k a year. That was not close enough for tuition + books/supplies + room and board + transportation. So yes, using FAFSA, you can get federal LOANS to cover the rest of expenses. I know because I was in the exact same situation as Candace. Didn't know until this either, but yes, I also defaulted on my FAFSA LOANS. Pell grant that I got didn't even cover enough for full years tuition- I was awarded like $4k. The rest was loans.
The argument that Candace is lying is based on two things: 1. She said originally that she never filled out a fasfa because she didn't know how and her parents didn't help her. Then she contradicted herself afterwards by saying that she did fill out the fasfa after all. 2. She pretended not to know what fasfa is despite continuously claiming that she grew up "poor", which is something that most low-income hosueholds know about since they do have to worry about finding ways to send their kids to college. Yet she ended up going to an out of state college with loans without at least trying to secure any funds to go to college. Destiny isn't trying to say that Candance was going to guaranteed get fasfa money, only that most low-income households that are genuinely poor will qualify for the fasfa program and often times get some money to help pay off their student loans. And that her contradiction of saying she didn't know what fasfa was, that she never applied for it, to then say that she did apply for it was a inconceivable, contradictive pattern of words that indicate she is lying about something. He goes to further elaborate all the reasons on twitter where he leaves a link that further fleshes out why he thinks she is lying about her background, citing things like the median household income in the city she lived in, contradictions in her stories across other platforms, failures in her calculations that got her somehow a $150,000 student loan debt, etc. I suggest you go take a look because it cites a lot of good information.

Destiny thinks that going to university makes you more money than trade school, so let's look at the rough numbers. There are a lot of variables but I've tried to align them as much as I can. Average university fee for a 4 year course: Roughly $100k (yes, it turns out Candace was right on this) Average trade school fee for a 4 year course: Roughly $33k Average university dropout rate: Roughly 40% (~60% of people graduate) Average trade school dropout rate: Roughly 24% (~76% of people graduate) Average median salary for university graduates: $47,749 a year (from ZipRecruiter, July 2024) Average median salary for trade school graduates: $48,060 (from BLS, May 2023) So what this means is that with trade school it costs you an average of a third of what the universities do, and you are 60% as likely to drop out compared to universities. That means the general risk of trade school (regarding costs vs payoff) is about one fifth of the risk you run going to university. And then assuming you graduate, the average salary you're looking at after trade school is about the same as from the universities anyway after they've charged you about three times as much to get there. This took far too long to research, but it confirms that trade school is just the better choice. The only time universities are the way forward is in fields where degrees are an absolute necessity (which isn't as often as people are lead to believe), and if trade schools don't also provide them.

Wait… do you and your chat actually think that fafsa will cover a 35k tuition?
The most outrageous take 🤦🏼♀️😂
The argument that Candace is lying is based on two things:

Destiny, to say you don’t believe anything Candace says is the reason you should never interview another person.
She doesn’t really strike you as a trustworthy source though. On a couple of her points on cases she says herself she has covered, she fumbles the facts completely and prefers to cling to unproven allegations, conspiracy and talks about them like facts. @robinisathakur she literally tells him to "research it" while she's saying things that aren't true. That's what hurt your brain out of this whole conversation lol 🤣
Destiny thinks that going to university makes you more money than trade school, so let's look at the rough numbers. There are a lot of variables but I've tried to align them as much as I can.
Average university fee for a 4 year course: Roughly $100k (yes, it turns out Candace was right on this)
Average trade school fee for a 4 year course: Roughly $33k
Average university dropout rate: Roughly 40% (~60% of people graduate)
Average trade school dropout rate: Roughly 24% (~76% of people graduate)
Average median salary for university graduates: $47,749 a year (from ZipRecruiter, July 2024)
Average median salary for trade school graduates: $48,060 (from BLS, May 2023)
So what this means is that with trade school it costs you an average of a third of what the universities do, and you are 60% as likely to drop out compared to universities.

It's not Black or White Thinking.... All in or all out, Only Good or Only bad.... There's a lot of in betweens in this world. There's literally no reason to lie about that. If I break down a cereal box and toss it into the recycling bin, you would obviously see me breaking down the box and tossing it into the recycling bin.... Not everything is a lie or a reason to lie....
I can’t believe I’m saying this… on the education topic, I agree with Candace. Once you graduate, you have to then acquire a job where you may realize it’s not the dream you were made to believe it was. I only went to school for medical office administration only to be told now the certification is obsolete. I also only got a few thousand in grants and the rest was a loan I still have to pay back the loan with continuously growing interest because I can’t afford payments. What she said is true. People are paying so much money to go to college for degrees they either can’t ultimately use or are miserable in because it was never their passion but what was taught. I also get her point on “selling” things a college dorm kid would. Instead of acknowledging it’s unhealthy and harmful, saying it’s your choice if that’s what you wanna do gives everyone watching the “okay” to do it themselves. My teenage niece LIVES on UA-cam. I’d hate for her to see someone say that. Omg I’m team Candace? I always said she’s super intelligent, and says the most harmful things but here… I’m with her 🥴😭😂
