Personally I don't think making Laurie Michael's sister gave Michael motivation that devalued him as a boogie man. A motivation that would devalue him would be why he wants to kill his sister. H6 is the movie that devalued him by giving him a motivation, that motivation being of course Thorn. Until then we didn't know why Michael wants to kill his family.
I didnt mind Thorn - I didn't know about Wynn at first but then looking back it made sense. The problem was them going overboard like raping his niece??!! WHY???

That movie was so bad (as was STC as Laurie), I actually laughed out loud in many scenes that weren't supposed to be funny. There were a few other people in the audience in my showing (I am not that person - I don't try to disrupt movies), and they also burst out laughing when I did. So bad.
If I rewatch it I have to turn down the damn volume for the whole film

I don't even class Halloween 4 as part of the thorne trilogy. Halloween 4 just feels like 2 with Michael continuing to hunt down his family members, Jamie. No mention of the thorne was in the movie, its just a slasher flick and one of the better ones that doesnt deserve to be included with 5 and 6 even if they are not that bad also.
Has to be apart of it because the end of 4 picks up at the very beginning of 5 so its almost the same movie just like the original and part 2

I would agree. Halloween 4 should stand on its own. If anything, the 'Thorn Trilogy' really comes off as people grouping everything together just because they were released within a few years of each other, not because of any real plot coherence.

I agree however the whole hospital setting got to me I find it much more pleasing scenic wise when the movies take place in neighborhoods, I think the whole 5 people max in a hospital is complete bs but I’m the guy that also doesn’t entirely hate season of the witch so what do I know 😂
Halloween 4 was always my favorite because it focuses the most on the “Halloween” aspect of the series. It feels the most like it’s actually happening on Halloween night, as the settings and background have the most autumnal feel of the series. Michael returning home to continue hunting down his family members, specifically his child-aged niece, also gives it way more of a dark edge than the others. The ending in the graveyard is fantastic and scared the bajeezus out of me as a kid.

Boom you've explained perfectly what I always thought about H4. I've said it before in comments but I always saw H4 as the perfect ending to the series. Michael as been shot dead and buried in the collapsed mine. The evil as now been passed onto Jamie who dons the mask, murders a family member and stands there catatonic bringing full circle back to Michael at the start of H1. Evil never dies.

Halloween 2 (1981) is a fucking masterpiece in my opinion, considering all the studio backlash and critical reception it recieves. The last 10 minutes are worth it alone, but everything else in incredibly entertaining and full of tension. Agree?
Scotia's channel That scene where Michael walks in the fire after the building is blown up is not only one of the most iconic scenes in the series or in horror movies but movies as a whole.

Agree, the opening score is brutal too especially with the image of the pumpkin opening and the skull inside. The only thing i would say about H2 that lets it down is it seems to get a little too dragged out in the hospital for around 10-15 mins in the middle
Its my favorite because the hospital is such an isolated environment, which (along with the lighting) I think makes it scarier and theres some great suspense in the chases too
I love seeing more of Haddonfield that Halloween night, the scenes of him wandering the back alleys and then walking through town are my favorite scenes in the series.
One thing about the original I really like is how patient Michael is. He keeps stalking his victims, like a predator observing prey. Only difference is most predators motivations are known. Animal predators kill prey for food. But what does Michael kill for? Nothing? Joy? Erections? We may never know and that’s the horror behind it. And he’s got this really interesting trait where he tricks people making it easier to get close for a kill. The ghost costume in the original makes him look like he’s just Bob playing a joke on his girlfriend, and in part 5 (completely forgot about this) he wears that thug mask to impersonate yet another girls boyfriend. Not as effective, but still pretty neat. Then there’s the way he taunts his victims. With the tombstone scene in the first film and like you said in your Halloween 2018 trailer reaction, the teeth over the bathroom stall. It’s almost like he does these things because he gets a kick out of it. He’s like a kid playing jokes on people but the punchline is usually death

I like the 1,2 and H20 timeline route. It puts a nice bow on the whole story ending with a great final blow against michael. I just pretend resurrection doesn't exit.
I got to admit, Halloween 5 is a HUGE guilty pleasure of mine. I enjoy it quite a bit, and I found some of the scenes quite scary to be honest.
TailsFan109 the laundry chute scene and most of the old Myers house scenes from Halloween 5 are some of the scariest in the whole series. Honestly the whole final act of the film is great

It's honestly great to see that 3 was given more praise in recent years. I agree that it was "bad" at first considering we expected more Michael Meyers, but it's actually a really good horror film looking back on it.

Halloween 6 is amazing for 2 reasons, Michaels visceral nature finally portrayed and the feel of fall throughout the movie.

I think H20 is my favourite. It really feels like a tribute to the original, rather than a lame reboot or remake. Plus the rest stop scene is probably my favourite scene in the entire franchise, don't know if anyone else really likes that scene with the mother and the little girl. I still think it's tense, even after seeing it numerous times.

I dont think its the best but the final scenes are amazing. I just wish the Laurie and Michael struggle went on a bit longer - five or so minutes and it would be amazing.

Wow, wth was up with that terrible CGI mask? Did the actor forget to wear the mask for that scene or something?
Throughout H20's production, the art team and the director couldn't come to a decision on how the mask should look. Throughout the film, you can see glimpses of Michael wearing different masks but some of the film was initially shot with a really smooth, featureless mask. That mask looked terrible, so certain shots had to be redone with a better mask but that one shot in particular was redone with CGI covering the original mask.
It's glaring but, honestly, I never noticed it until it was pointed out.

I'm one of those who consider H6 (theatrical cut) as one of my favorites. Maybe it's nostalgia as it's one of the first I'd seen. Kind of strange. It's strange, but I really like it.
Halloween: Michael goes Hawaiian.
Michael was supernatural from the beginning. You don’t get shot in the heart 6 times (and walk away) or lift up a grown adult off of the ground with one hand without being supernatural.
Honestly, after Halloween 2018 i still think halloween 4 is the best sequel, my favorite halloween for sure

I'm gonna get some hate (or a ton of hate) i really enjoyed very much RZ's Halloweens, without excpetion! I liked the easter eggs and the amazing atmosphere that was brought back in H2007 from H1978 and reimagination and liked H2 for continuing with Laurie's mentality, the hospital scene was really damn sick and creepy, and i liked Hobo-Michael without getting to buy a new mask like in every movie, just stuck with his rotted clothes, got some "new" ones from the wilderness or traveling with his mask falling apart! He is known for the the original name and behaviour, not outfit or anything else!! But that mommy and little-Mickey didn't really made so much sense for me, even if that thing is explified! But i really enjoyed it, cool concept, i really get the hate for H2 but it's a different take (like it or not) that was necesary without having a "deja vu" (at least in Halloween universe)...I suck at ranking, had some forced dialogue and maybe it's not a concept for everyone (just for some may be a negative, for me isn't) but i'll give it around an 8 or a 10

Halloween III had a great premise, make it into a franchise like the Twilight Zone but the quality of the story, directing and acting was so bad it killed it from taking hold.

Good list. Lines up fairly close to my order. Admittedly the Halloween series by in large is fairly bad, unwatchable and forgettable. I'd say the original and Season of the Witch are the two best and truest to Carpenter's original plan of the series. The films other than that are rather "blah".

Much more accurate list than another I just watched that somehow had H2 above Halloween 4. For all the reasons you mentioned and as a huge Halloween fan, that film is completely awful outside of Annies death (Brad Douriffs reaction). It ruined Michael, Laurie and Loomis. It was hard to even finish.

I actually liked the first rob zombie Halloween movie it was wayyy better then nightmare on elm street and Friday the 13th remakes
The one I always go back and watch is Halloween II (1981). It just hits the ground running. Love the atmosphere,love how the mask looks,love how demonic Michael is,love the new take on the soundtrack, and I love the finale.

It's amazing how opinions vary so much. I find H4 in close contention with H6 for the bottom of the non-Rob Zombie sequels. I can rewatch Resurrection and H5 all day before 4 and 6. Yes, the ending of 4 is very good and Danielle Harris was excellent but not enough to move it up from the bottom.
Resurrection was definitely better than Rob Zombie's Halloween 2. "Trick or treat, mutha fuca." lol that line alone makes it watchable for me. Haha
Regarding Halloween II - I've lived in N.J. most of my life. In the early 60's there was a rash of apples with inserted razor blades and kids did get hurt.
And also,I love curse of Michael Myers.
As Do I...mainly because of A Michael Lerner's Brutal Kills not that Fat Wilbur.
