- The closing number and credits from a Lawrence Welk Show episode from 1971, so until next time as the Maestro always said, "Keep A Song In Your Heart" as the band and singers sing "Adios, Au Reviour, Ah Weidershein"
I almost cried when I heard this. I used to watch this with my mom back in the seventies. I hated it then but now I have come to appreciate it and love it so much for its innocence and wholesomeness. I wish we had this in our society.
AMEN
Same here, I almost cried too! This popped up in my head today randomly, my mom used to sing it and so I wanted to look it up on UA-cam. I can still hear her singing it. RIP mom, I miss you every day!
AMEN or LIKEWISE!
God bless you. It means you have a heart. You have not gone astray.
I watched this show with my dad every Sunday night.
I miss the show so much it was a very big part of my childhood my grandparents and I watched it from the time I was 7 years old up it was so cool and the ladies were so pretty. I'm 60 now and you think back on special things like that
Reminds me of my parents...they watched Lawrence Welk religiously. Us kids had to as well...now my parents and siblings are dead...all I have left is my nephew/Godson...ah memories.
It was like that in my family too, my mom actually met Lawrence Welk once!
Thank you Grandmom for introducing me to Lawrence Welk
I love this show
Memories of an era when everyone was clean cut, shaven, wearing exquisite outfits and no tattoos. Today its jeans, wife beater tee shirts, dreadlocks, body piercing, hip hop music, and tattoos. Oh how I long for the good old days.
I guess the end credits got more generic by this period, that's not a bad thing. But if you remember, in the earlier years of the series, after the closing theme was sung, the credits would (usually, but not always) scroll in front of the weeks sponsor product, like a Dodge Car, with bubbles floating all around. At least the real credits are here to see, unlike the fake credits with stil pictures on PBS. Thanks for posting
My great grandmother loved this show. she was 100 when she passed away last month. my sister made the slide show for her funeral and this was the closing song at the end.
HaPpy tears😭
oh wow that's beautiful
I play this song for my angel 😇 Lisa in heaven every night before I lay my head down to 😴
that was SO BEAUTIFUL to do
My parents loved this show and when my Dad passed away in April, we did the same…a musical/photo/video collage with this as the last song 💜
How many people are here bc their parents used to sing this to them back in the day?
This really makes me miss my grandmother.
@@marcc3516 My grandmother would always have Lawrence Welk on when we'd do the dishes after eating supper. What I'd give to do it one more time.
@@Bad_Goy23 I'm sorry. We all know what it is like to lose a family member. I lost both my parents when I was born. They were murdered. I wish you the best of luck and I'm sorry about your grandma.
@@thatoldchicken8549 My condolences, sincerely. I completely appreciate the time I had with my grandmother, and I can't wait until I can see her again. Thank you for the reply.

I used to watch this with my grandparents when I was younger. I honestly really miss it.
90s kid right? im the same, i really miss my grandpa whenever I hear this song
I’m 2000’s but i used to watch this it was gas
I used to sit and watch this with my family too
I used to not only watch it but dance with my grandmother whenever it came on PBS when I was little! In fact, I just caught an episode and it still holds up today
Me to I used to watch with grandma and my mother.
I’m crying. I havent seen this since I was 4
Me too! Floodgate of family memories. Seems so long ago.
My young son and I would sing this together every Saturday, at our former home. Makes me emotional.
I'm 59 and was a small child in the late 1960s and 1970s and although I am a life long rocker, this SHOW will always have a special place in my heart...Oh, the Lawrence Welk Show, how I love it! Fondest memories...
Same here!
Me also!!!! 👍🏻
My grandma and Mom loved this show. My brother and I, being typical teenagers, would poke fun at it. But now that Grandma and Mom are gone, and I'm now close in age to what my grandma was, I can now really appreciate what a gem this program was. They just don't make 'em like this anymore!😊
This is what's been in my head from our memories together and how much I missed Gram. She passed this week in 1986 and I still miss her deeply.
Ditto.
My mom would sing this to me before bed and now I sing it to my son before bed.
Love this. I'm 39 years old, and my mom sang this to me before bed. ❤
My parents used to sing me this every night! (:
RIP daddy
I grew up hating this song since my Grandparents tortured us with Lawrence Welk. My Dad, who is now departed would yell "turn this shit off" every time it was on. Now, I'm an adult and I have such fondness for this song. I sang this to both of my daughters as babies. They know this song well. This song makes me happy, but also makes me sad since I'd give anything to be "tortured" just one more time... It would be so nice to rewind back to the 70's and have my Dad and Grandparents again.
Me too kid, Me too.
I was the only one in my family that loved The Lawrence Welk Show, I don’t know what my Granny on my Mommy’s side of the family liked she passed away young. My Granny on my Daddy’s side hated me so I never got to know her except her verbal and physical abuse I knew that real well. Both My aGrand Daddy’s were HEE-HAW fans, and Maebelle my Grandpappy’s wife preferred Westerns and CBS’ Rural Comedies, Gomer Pyle and such. She also liked Wheel of Fortune and Space 1999, but who didn’t.
how did we get from this to where we are now
Progress.
Those were simpler days.
People have lower standards back then
carrychris2010 you can say that again!!!
@@papabird4425 higher standards
My grandmother use to sing this to me and my sisters when she tucked us into bed. I miss her so much!
+JN West I used to watch this at my babysitters home every time I came over this was their favorite show and I watch it with them, brings back so many memories growing up, I miss those days too.
What a beautiful memory. Ty for sharing. My grandmother loved it too. I miss her and those wonderful days of the 70’s. Time flew by and now I’m almost the age my grandmother was when she watched that show. I wish i could be with her again. 😢
I watched this show when I was just a little kid like 5 or older and the only thing that I remember from this show was "goodnight, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you..." I will always have this song in my heart. ahh the good old days :) ;)
Same!!! To this day I know the end song!😊👍
This reminds me of my grandparents so much. They never missed it and when I was visiting, I'd watch it with them. I love listening to this but it does make me sad... and like one post said.. how did we get from this to what we have now. That's also sad, just in a different way.
My grandma watch this faithfully. Great memories.
where are the bubbles?
Another clip
I remember watching this as a young girl in 19 70s watched the Lawrence welk show every Saturday night. Miss shows like that. Watching the it brings back memories. I especially loved watching the Christmas shows. Miss shows. Everything today is reality shows.
When I was younger, my dad used to sing this to me each night before I went to bed. I never knew where this song was, but after I looked up the lyrics, I found this video and it brings back so many good memories! Thank you for uploading this :)
my mom used to sing it to me too and i never knew where it was from!
i remember when i would stay at my grandfathers house on sat nites, he would be in his chair i would lay on the couch and watch the Lawrence Walk show and the closing song. I can remember like it was yesterday. Great Memories.
Growing up in the seventies and eighties, my daddy loved the Lawrence Welk Show and watched it every Saturday night. My mama loved it too. It would make me happy and as a teenager in the eighties, I got into Prince, Madonna and MTV. I thought I was way too cool for the Lawrence Welk Show. As an adult and with both my parents gone, I realized how much I actually loved it. It brings me back to a simpler time in my life. Miss you daddy and mama, watching the Lawrence Welk Show.
i love this show. i used to watch this with my grandparents when i was a little girl. i miss them so much, and the good decent shows like this. they dont make shows like this anymore.
Yes Tamara. How we miss the good old days. I’m glad I was there to experience this wonderful, family show
I couldn't agree more!!
How can you not enjoy this back in the day? I used to have to sit through this, but looking back... LOVED IT!
Being Hicks like my Parents, Granddaddy & Grandpappy and Grandpappy’s wife Maebelle, is how, they didn’t dig it. Too Citified for them.
I've been playing the theme song over and over again it just reminds me of mom and dad so much it feels like tear drops falling down inside ya know they loved this show and so did I I still do🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶,
Brings back pleasant memories from my childhood, especially after the family bought their first color television. Mom, dad, grandma & grandpa, the whole family watched this show.
I go back further than you all, but I too remember sitting with my Granny and watching this program. I also sang this to my children as they went to sleep. Yes, the world was a better place when I was young.
I love this song. i used to watch this with my grandparents when i was a little boy :)
me as well
As a kid, this song playing on TV signalled bedtime. I remember being so disappointed when PBS started playing memorial episodes instead of doing reruns. (I was also REALLY excited when I was allowed to watch NOVA, probably because that was the next show on after Lawrence Welk and it was past my bedtime. lol)
Now it's so nostalgic. And weird that retirees and I are nostalgic about some of the same things. I am such an old maid at heart, lol.
Old maid? Girl I remember it in syndication before it went to PBS!
Aldo Nova was highly underrated those songs especially 🙈 on Your Back are part of my 🧬ic makeup🎸🎸🎸
Every Saturday night my family would watch Laurence Welk over dinner. Arthur Duncan, Bobby and Sissy were my favorites. This brings back memories
My dad used to sing good night to me rip now when I hear it I cry cause I miss him so much.
my mom used to sing it to me too... i used to cry when she started singing it bc i wanted to stay up... lol
Absolutely fantastic musician and all around human being!
11/11/20: In memory of my mother, whose sunset occurred on August 5, 2020 @ 12:45 a.m. She used to sing along with this on Sunday afternoons.
My grandpa made his own variation of this song and sang it to me as a lullaby when I was a kid
Wholesome Goodness
What an era...
Absolutely love this. I find myself humming this song once in a while and I have such fond memories of watching this as a little girl, now I’m 55 ⭐️💖💖💖⭐️👏👏👏👏❤️
I used to watch with my mom and dad every Saturday ahh the sweet memories🎶🎶
My parents sang this to me every night when i was young :)
My parents used to sing this before I had gone to bed... now I know where it comes from
OMG my dad sang it to me because I was adopted from Ukraine!!!!! (:
My Dad would sing this song to us before bed. It was my favourite bedtime ritual along with getting "tucked in". Good memories :)
Saturday Night 7pm....all those have completed their earthly journeys watched this....I hear it.....I cry....good tears not sad hurt ones just....nostalgia....I miss them...glad they are never hurting again.....but....yeah
@Witchblade1998 I used to watch this show with my grandmother too! It was something that we would always watch together on PBS or when ABC would show it late at night. They're simple, but those are some of the best memories I have! My grandmother has since passed and I miss her very much, but I know I will always have that to look back on and how awesome it felt to enjoy watching that with her! It's a shame things like this have phased out of television now... I think kids would really like it!
My late older brother was a huge fan of Lawrence Welk. God rest his soul.😇
My mom used to sing this to me before I would go to bed. I always wondered where it came from, now I know. I always thought it came from sesame street. Years later, I still remember the words to this song.
smithredhawk Same here!! I googled the words on a whim, wondering where my mom even got the song, and found myself here. Kind of surreal to hear my childhood lullaby being sung by strangers!
This makes me miss my mom and dad... : ( My mom and dad used make us stay up and watch this show when I was young, and now that I look back on it, I wish they still had shows like this today...
I think my mom modified this as a lullaby, at least the good night sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you. 😂
My mom used to sing this to me when I was younger. I just used it to put my kids to sleep tonight.
We watch Lawrence Welk every Saturday. (We are 38, 43, and 2 1/2). Love it! Thanks for the post. My son started singing it randomly, so it was fun to play it for him.
Man, my great-grandparents watched this every night - it bored me silly. Ah, but it's all so nostalgic to hear now...
i was the same way with my grandparents. i used to sing this song whenever they would leave the house. both of them have passed on and i miss them a lot.
I get it... Sorry about your grandparents
Lawrence Welk & His Orchestra - Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehen
Good night, good night until we meet again
Adios, au revoir, auf wiedersehen 'til then
And though it's always sweet sorrow to part
You know you'll always remain in my heart
Good night, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you
Here's a wish and a prayer that every dream comes true
And now 'til we meet again
Adios, au revoir, auf wiedersehen
Good Night!
A time when a live band was important part of the program
This brings back good memories, especially of my parents who watched this show every Saturday night. I would tell them that the "Good Night" song was my favorite! :) I guess it had something to do with being a teenager at that time and thinking the show was so uncool. :)
@sygo7g
Part 2: Incidentally, there are certain episodes I want to see: 1: The first episode ever, 2: The first color episode, 3: The first episode in which "Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehen was first performed(the earlier shows ended with a variation of "Good Night Ladies") 4: JoAnn Castle's first appearance, 5: First appearance of Gail Farrell(I like all the Welk girls, but especially her) 6: from 1971,the last network show,
7: and from 1982, The last episode ever.
Me , too. Still love The Lawrence Welk Show.
Damn it Mom. You got me hooked on these old shows.
My God. I recall watching this with my grandparents growing up. Miss those carefree days.😢
My younger brother and I would be clean from a bath, in our pj's, sharing a big bowl of freshly popped popcorn. Our TV was in black & white. Is a good memory for me. Was for my brother also. We'd mention it often. I miss him, he died in 2019.
Geritol and Rose Milk Lotion..........
Wonderful wonderful!
Only ONE black performer? Out of the thousands of black musicians and singers in the US racist Lawrence Welk only hired ONE, and I bet the producers forced him to do it.
There’s another song that has a special feel for me. When I was in my early to mid-twenties I used to sing “When I’m 64” to my girlfriend while driving her home after a date on Saturday night. Fast forward 50 years. In memory, I can still hear her laughter when I sang it to her. And when my father turned 64, I sang it to him. Kind of ironic, isn’t it? But nobody sang it to me when I turned 64. But I did blow out ALL the candles.
We changed from beauty to ugliness, love to hate, romance to lust, self-control to self-indulgence. We turned from extroverted, helpful, caring persons to self-absorbed freaks more interested in artificial reality than genuine reality. We became triggered and trigger-happy. Young adults wouldn't know a love song or cheerfulness if it hit their heads with hammers.
Amen, Brother...
it's a shame what happened to the world in such a short time.
Call the chief I’ll give a confession but make it stop 😂😂 My mom and dad used to watch this nightly. Mom passed in 2011 and my dad still calls daily telling me he’s watching reruns. 😂😂😂
I go back to this whenever I miss my grandma. I’ll always love this song and would sing along with her as a child. The lyrics now really mean a lot to me,
The toes are still tapping to the closing credits theme song, after all these years!
A friend of mine is a very hip musician, who once found an equally hip friend watching Lawrence Welk reruns on TV. He asked him why, and was answered "It's about the only place I can see how ARRANGING works." True enough I guess, so many records are "programmed" or "sampled" now, rather than actually arranged.
Right...George Cates and assistants (including performers Jack Imel and Joe Livoti) cranked out fresh charts each and every week for all songs. Plus, despite the "bland" music, the musicians were among the very best in the nation on their instruments. Even rockers admitted to watching Welk's players for technique and execution!
I LOVE THIS show, watch it every Saturday night on public TV. My granddaughters 7 and 5 love it too, when they are at my house.
It is so funny that I found this song. I was singing it from memory to my nephew. I remember seeing it as a child... I so loved this song. I am not ashamed...LOL... Love it!
my grandparents loved this show and now I do...in their memory.
My grandfather watched this religiously I hated it lol..😂
I still love this show and im 17!!! (year: 2010 turning 2011) My uncle just loves it! he got me to watch it *hogs the remote control a lot*
Oh the fond memories this song brings me of my childhood days. I miss this show.
RIP king of champagne
I watched this everyday at 5pm with my great gram who would watch it and eat her dinner in her hospital bed.....then after she died I worked with a developmentally disabled man who's 90 year old mother brought him recorded episodes that he would watch all day everyday.. needless to say lawrence welk was a big part of my life
I used to watch Lawrence Welk with my grandparents
When I was five every night after Jeopardy me my mom and my grandma would watch this id dance to it I miss my Grandma and Grandpa so much
Oh. So it's "good night, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you" and not "good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite", like my Dad always said as he closed my bedroom door back then. :-)
Great memories - I used to sing this song to my children when they would go to sleep and now i sing it to my grand-daughter.....And what's beautiful my son sings it to her baby girl (she loves it)
This.brought back some good memories
During the early years of the syndicated edition of the show, Welk continued taping at ABC's Hollywood facilities [even though they virtually threw him off their network in 1971 for attracting an "older" audience they and their "youth-oriented" advertisers didn't want anymore]. By 1977, he relocated to CBS' Television City for the remainder of the series. The credits on the current "public tv" version are "generic/collective", and deliberately incomplete from the original ones.
Omg so many memories! Every night before bed my mom would sing this! 😍
What great memories this brings to me dancing with my mother, and just hearing qaulity music
My mom dad watch this. I watched it with my grandson when he was small he loves this show. What a peaceful show such class
This song plays in my head every time I tell someone good night. It's a permanent tune in my memory from childhood.
A one an a two I miss Lawrence welk he was a class act who didn’t love his show and music family.
I used to watch this at my babysitters home this was their favorite show every time I came over I always watch it with them. Brings back those memories growing up, I miss those days.

I wish they still made shows like this again.
I was 4 years old when I use to watch this show with my Mataunte. I’m now 34. I miss those days. She passed away at 100
Adios, Au revoir, Auf Wiedersehen.
my parents sang this to me when I was a child :')
This song came to my mind as I am lying in bed and I started to sing it then I googled it to hear it and I had every word correct! I used to watch this show when I was a girl and never wanted to miss the end because I wanted to sing the good night song... Great wholesome memories
