Moisture Meter - Surverymaster Protimeter. Moisture in different building materials

Using the Surverymaster Protimeter on different building materials like, pine, pressure treated deck board, ceiling tile, green board drywall, walnut, maple, cherry, plywood, birch plywood. Soaking the materials in water for 24 hours and then checking how each one handles the water. Each building material of course reacts differently. I measure the moisture right out of the water and then again after letting them dry for another 24 hours.
The Surverymaster Protimeter is by far the best moisture meter on the market. It is expensive and there are cheaper options for home owners that don't need it every day. I also talk about the General options available at Lowes and Home Depot.
Also using the Surverymaster Protimeter to show how to check for leaking toilets. I use this thing every single day and find at least 5-6 leaking toilets a week.

Wood is so interesting.
So many people think PVC and hardie is amazing, but wood is so good at absorbing and displacing water. I tell people it only rots, as long as it is has a long exposure to moisture. If you can resolve the moisture issue, it should bounce back… but wood will also tell you there is an issue way before hardie or PVC will. Plus its easy to replace and manipulate in comparison to the rest.
Came here interested in the meter, but you helped reaffirm my belief in wood.

Why was moisture protected on the ceiling tile with the pins and 0 moisture detected using pinless method

Not sure. That is why is it best to check with both methods to double check.
