that makes almost all the crowns for Obas in Yoruba land!
"I started learning how to make crowns soon after I left secondary school," he explains to Odunayo.
"You know kings have always been crowned since before I was born. Some even come with a picture of their ancestor's crown for me to remake for them."
"This type is called Peke. It's for traditional chiefs," he shows Odunayo a small crown before taking her around the rest of his shop.
Thanks for watching!

BattaBox is the most exciting Nigerian News & Entertainment Video channel based in Lagos. We are the fact behind Nigerian Movies fiction, Nollywood in real-life with a dash of Yoruba Movie Magic - but none of our videos are made-up like Nollywood - they are all true stories!
BattaBox is Nigeria Like You've Never Seen Before! --

Beautiful. Many of us in the diaspora (Jamaica ) are hungry for this. It nourishes the soul and helps us to reconnect with our ancestors. (Battabox ) you're serving a greater service then you can imagine, wonderful.
oceej0 its truly surreal how its managed to survive this long, even in louisiana, the carolinas, georgia and all across latin america
kwacou
I'm in agreement with everything you just stated :-)
Is there ANYTHING Nigerians can't make??? I love the resourcefulness and creativity that comes out of necessity...The crowns are impressive, but I especially liked the beaded bag with the 🦁 on it...Once again, job well done Odunayo, please continue to showcase the talent of the Natives...
Yoruba not Nigeria
I think this is my favourite video so far on BattaBox. Probably the twins videos will come second. Very good job, Odun and Kayode. Please keep shooting more videos that reveal more of our culture to us. Thanks, guys. Thank you, BattaBox

Batta box can I have the address or phone number of the crow maker.I'm from Benin
Very nice. And the bead maker is so down to earth and very forthcoming
Beautifully made and very interesting. Very pleased that these traditions are still active.
Talented man, God has blessed you in wisdom and knowledge.
instead of wasting money on empowering unempowerable people , the state and regional government should empower people like these so that they can build factories and give apprenticeship to youth . The export potentials here is huge .
Thank you for creating this video - beadwork has a RICH heritage and to focus this piece on him is SO important - Thank you again :)
Yoruba shall never perish. We need our own country. The People's Republic of Yoruba.
As much as I am enjoying this video, I love the background music even more. It's earthy, rich, powerful, yet gentle, pleasing and peaceful at the same time. I would love to get recordings of just the background music used in this video but I do not know how...
Ms Odunayo Oti, you do your country justice and you show the world the true heart of your country. I love your beautiful speaking accent. It is a part of you just as you are a part of Nigeria, and you are so proud of your home as it is, and not as tourists would want to see it. I love how you are connected to your heritage, your culture, your history and most of all, to your people and to your language. May peace be with you always, and thank you for sharing your heritage and your home with the world.
Your videos are a key and a treasure. A treasure that the rest of the world need to learn how to embrace and to hold. It is because so many people have lost touch with their heritage, their customs, language history, art and culture, that this world is in such chaos and is such a mess. It is a key you bring because you are showing everyone that these things are what matters most, because it is joined to your country, to its people and most important of all, it is joined to you and your family, and you to it...
Thank you for this always. I mean you no harm because I knew these things at one time... I am reminded of it by you and what you and all of Battbox.com are bringing to us, the rest of the world... Thank you, thank you, thank you... always.
Thank you so much for your kind words.... We appreciate you ooo!

I did the beaded artwork for my album cover "Beats, Rhymes, & Love" (that you can see in my icon, and listen to on my channel) and it took so much time and effort, so I can only imagine the skill and work that this man puts into his craft. Beautiful! I love our culture! The craftsman ship that goes into making our drums such as Dundun (talking drum) is also amazing. Not to mention the incredible intelligence, discipline and memory that goes into a babalawo memorizing hundreds of odus and Ifa poems. Let us be proud of the genius of our ancestors and beauty of our culture, there is nothing that Versace or any Italian has designed that compares to the beauty of our traditional fashion such as Agbada and Gele
Odunayo ... I'd like to know how much he charges for these stuffs, and does he make for kings alone? I intend to crown myself this year :) You're doing a wonderful job. Keep up the good work.

i like how people believe in superstitions ...
Temp Twixie that's believe in culture not superstition
Theres nothing like believing in culture .. ( hahahah ) the superstitions there was that " oduduwa's kids were dying and the haberlist did some magic shit to save them " thats bullshit and superstition and people like you probably believe in that bullshit t
Lol but you believe in biblical superstitions like a White man turnng water into wine and splitting the ocean in two hahaha
nah .. that shit is bullshit too
what he said about oduduwa is real and you need to be careful about whatever you say....
