This shot used to scare the crap out of me. With injured ribs been practicing it at pitching green over a bunker. So effortless when you slow the swing down. I humm tick tock slowly to get my rhythm and it works like a charm.

I saw a pro do this on TV during a tournament where his ball was on the putting surface and his ball would have had to been putt through the fringe. He executed it perfectly and flopped the ball over the fringe area to the green on the other side and almost holed it out. I remember at the time wondering how the hell did he not take a divot and ruin the green. Awesome video.

That 20% swing was insanely good.

I really like the "only if you absolutely have to" approach. High flops are last shot type as an option.

Height and SPIN are highly overrated in the Short Game. Few Amateurs are playing onto Greens running 12-13+ 😉
Distance Control and Release Control are more a Priority on typical 9-10 Speed Greens.

Analyzing swing mechanics I realized a significant difference between the long and short game is the axis of rotation of the club head. With full swings the axis of rotation is the lead shoulder but in the short game when the trail arm straightens soon the axis of rotation shifts to the spine at the point both arms are allowed to be pulled straight then the trail shoulder at the point the hands reach the bottom of their swing arc.
The shift in the axis of rotation backwards relative to the ball position creates a more level-to-upward trajectory for the club head and face which is helpful because the action of the ball rolling up the face before releasing vs. being compressed on one spot on the face increases spin on partial swing shots which lack the force to significantly compress the ball.
The tempo / move of dropping the club down behind straightens the trail arm, shifting the axis of rotation for the club head earlier than in a full swing 😊 But not bending the trail elbow in the backswing (i.e. moving hands with just hip and shoulder turn) achieves the same result for club head path without any coordination / timing issues, just letting the momentum of the turn back dictate how much the club forces the wrists to radial deviate and then accelerate the club head around the hands on the way back down.

This technique is 🔥🔥 saw immediate improvement vs the steep/fast cut spin approach they talked about in the video (which has been my go-to)

Hey Casey -- this worked (and great that it is work). Felt like I was 'pro-casting' and it flopped up great.

Disagree. Main point is the swing and contact. Can assume all the shots get near the flag

My pro (and my son's) all say to have a wide, low stance, ball forward, hands not ahead of the ball at address etc. Not mentioned here. Are these not so key? Cheers and thanks for another well produced vid - Dave

Good info but no club was mentioned, no results shown, no ball position described, and on what grasses to try it on. Needs some more info.

I’m surprised nothing was mentioned about the position of the ball. Could have been camera angle but it appears it was off the back of stance

The absolute most useless shot for most amateur golfers, but damn I love the way it looks. I tend to use it WAY too much :p

Hard to trust the results when every time the shot cuts to Camera B Parker is nowhere to be seen. It's clearly not the shot Casey hit in real time. Just something to think about...
