It’s so cool to see authors on these kind of shows that are usually reserved for actors and musicians. Judy Blume generally impacted so many of our lives, and it’s so cool to see her getting some recognition.
I read so many of her books growing up. The Pain and the Great One, Just As Long as We’re Together, the other book about Rachel (don’t remember the name), and I loved them all
She played a HUGE role in my childhood and im so happy shes getting more recognition and that shes relacing in Key West! 😊
No childhood is complete without
Judy Blume
Beverly Cleary
Paula Danziger
Are we the same person?!? “The cat ate my gym suit” “There’s a bat in bunk five” and “The pistachio prescription” YES!
@@myrnashoults9735 LOVED THOSE!!!
Barbara Park
Every girl in the 80s loved Judy and also tried “ I must, I must, I must increase my bust” 😂❤ She talked about periods, growing boobs and other things that no one else wrote about and it “normalised” things we felt so weird, awkward and alone about. Thank you Judy 🙏
Did it work?
@@itsjemmabond my mosquito bumps eventually became pretty decent size boobs for my frame and ethnicity (I’m Asian) so not sure if it helped or just coincidental timing.
Thought she would be up there cuz I read her books as a youngster, but 85?!? God bless her!
She looks amazing for her age, too! I would have clocked her at 70 at most from the thumbnail.
@@zorasmith4880 Yep... me, too!
I am from India and Judy Blume was my favourite childhood author. My mother's best friend was from the USA and every year I used to receive these wonderful packages filled with delightful books, Judy's featuring the most. My love for her started with the Fudge series then I went on to Iggy's house to Starring Sally J. Fieldman as Herself to Just As Long As We Are Together and so many more. Even though I was a kid in a small town in India in the 90s these characters spoke to me and Judy became an unseen friend who wrote about topics adults shied away from discussing and who didn't talk down at me. I have a bright-eyed almost-seven year old now and it has been a great joy to introduce her to the wonderful world of Peter, Fudge and Shiela and to see her cackling loudly or chuckling to herself as she falls in love with them.
How absolutely beautiful! Thank you for describing so vividly these wonderful memories, the way you were impacted by her stories, and how now your daughter has become smitten with Judy's books. Your comment touched my heart.
This movie blew me away as a girl dad. My oldest is 11. So this hit close to home. It had everything, it pissed me off, it made me. Laugh uncontrollably, and I cried when they did. This movie Is FLAWLESS. I've never read the book and plan to now. And I can imagine it is a flawless adaptation. Thank you Judy Blume and to everyone e involved into making this masterpiece. This film is now one of my favorite movies of all time, it's right up there with Breakfast at Tiffany's with Audrey Hepburn 💜
I wrote to her when I was a kid in the 70's and she wrote back. I have my mom searching for that letter, but I fear it may be long gone. To think that she still has MY letter is amazing!!!
What'd you say?
@@MichaelTurner856 I don't remember... it was 50 years ago!
When I was 13yrs old I found Judy Bloom’s book, ‘ Are You There God, It’s me, Margaret” in my grandmother’s room. I laid on the floor next to her bed and read the first few chapters, and then snuck the book home with me until I finished it and then suck it back to her house. looking back at it, I wonder if my grandmother and my mother had planted that book there for me to Leeds they would not have to have a talk with me. Either way, glad I found it.
I love her! She made me feel normal in my early awkward teen years.
A legend, loved her books as a kid! She could have gotten a way more impressive applause tbh.
Seriously! I’m over here gushing because Ms. Judy is SO engaging. That whole audience is in the damn dark. Pitiful. I guess they just want to laugh and listen to music. I was waiting for Jimmy to rag on Wifey lol
I love her so much. Read so many of her books growing up. So happy for her. 💛
I’m over here grinning from ear to ear watching my whole childhood on screen. This is beautiful to see. It would be so cool if JB could write a follow-up about what happens to the body/mind of our favorite Margaret 40 years later, as she transitions to menopause. That would be uproarious! Lol
She becomes transgender and uses they/them pronouns.
That would be amazing!
@@randomsandra4039 you want to see her become trans?
Oh that would be good
@@chauntisecarter1257 becoming woke?
I read all of her books when I was in middle school in the 80s. Thank you so much Judy Blume. Your books meant so much to me. Can't wait to see this movie.
An author of her stature definitely deserves this level of publicity.
Judy is a wonderful human being ...total love and respect
I'm 46 now & never loved reading until I discovered at age 10 Judy Blume books & opened up a whole new world for me personally. I've loved & appreciated her since then 🥰Love from Australia Judy xo
Cant wait to see it. I read the book in grade 3 and still have it on my bookshelf. Judy has always been one of my-all time favourite author.
This woman was my absolute hero growing up! I can’t believe she’s 85 and still so sharp and beautiful! What are incredible soul she is 🙏♥️
I grew up reading Judy Blume books. Thank you for inviting her to the show, Jimmy. Can’t wait to watch her movie!!!
What a LEGEND and a delight!!
This author’s books was such a great source of comfort and joy for me as young girl. I read them all. It was so cool because my mother read them too and then we discuss it. What sweet memories. So nice to see and here her speak.
The first Judy Blume book I ever read was when I was in 5th grade. My parents would have hated it but my teacher had her own little library in her classroom where we could read whatever we wanted and leave them at school, still reserved for individual students, in case it wouldn't go well at home. I am still grateful to that teacher and to Judy Blue for introducing the concept that awkward, uncomfortable things are normal and not shameful. 💛
Retired Children's Libraian here, one of the highlights of my career was getting to hear Judy speak at the Key West Literary Festival and getting to meet her afterwards🤗
WOW 🤩 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
I love her!! Grew up reading her books. Blubber was one of my faves ❤❤❤❤❤
I read Blubber. It's still in my head when the little brother had to pee, he'd say "I halfa pee pee", always at the most awkward times.
I loved her books as a kid. I plan to see Are You There God It’s Me Margaret this weekend. I’m excited to see it.
My very first Judy Blume book was "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing." I grew up reading her literature.
WOW!....NEVER IMAGINED I WOULD SEE THIS DAY....JUDY BLUME'S BOOK BEING MADE INTO A MOVIE!..I REMEMBER READING HER BOOK WHEN I WAS TEN YEARS YOUNG!....AND "I MUST!, I MUST!, I MUST INCREASE MY BUST!...STUCK WITH ME WELL ON INTO MY LATE TEENAGE YEARS ...ONE OF THE FIRST FIVE! BOOKS I READ IN MY LIFE!...JUDY?....,YOU JUST PUT A SMILE ON MY FACE AND BROUGHT BACK SOME PRECIOUS MEMORIES FOR ME.....THANK YOU 💋💋💋😎
I just don’t think kids would understand these days. Her book “Forever” was passed around like it was contraband. There was a waiting list in every friendship group. In a world before the internet, there was no access to information like that about sex. Judy Blume is a legend!!
85 years old! Damn she looks, sounds fantastic!!
I read this book in the 5th grade and I thank you Judy for the great story God Bless...
Love Judy Blume! ❤
7:16 "MOMMMMMM!" So much truth in that scream!!!
The Pain and The Great One, Along with Tales of Fourth Grade Nothing were a few of my favorites growing up. You Mom You? I need that published!! Was so good! 💜
More authors on talk shows🙏🖤

OmG !! She was my favorite author in Elementary school
.... again Elementary school !! Back in the 70's !!
Absolutely charming woman.
She certainly has a way with children and their psyche. Glad she is still doing her thing, and I think it's absolutely wonderful they are putting her in lights now.
Brilliant !!
It's a dream come true for ALL of us, Ms Blume;)
The best Christmas gift I ever received was a box set of her books, given to me by my aunt.
I saw the movie last night! It took me back to being a teenager in the 70's! It was a wonderful movie! ❤
A delight to watch her ❤
Loved her books! And had my kids read them too!
she's a legend!

This was one of Jimmy best interviews ❤️
I hated having to put down my Judy Blume books to do school work. I was obsessed with them all! I can't wait to see the movie that was such a large part of my preteen years!!!❤❤❤
I read her Fudge books growing up. Nice to see one of her books getting a movie adaptation. Can't wait for Are you there God? It's me Margaret.
I watched the movie! I used to read her books when I was younger. I absolutely loved the movie it really captured the essence of the original book.
She an allstar ✨
I was one of those kids who read Are You There God? It’s me Margaret book in the early 70’s. Well, most of it. My mother took it from me before I finished it and I was never allowed to read her books again. She took my love of reading, as a child, away. Now as I approach my 60th birthday I have gone back to read her books that I was not allowed to read as a young girl. I highly encouraged my girls to read them but they never felt the need to. Always admired Judy Blume for being so open and understanding of the questions we had that no one wanted to talk about. Never forgot the impact that the half a book that I read in the 70’s had on me.
Hey Judy Blume. Love you and seeing you so young and happy. I m a 69 year old perennial male adolescent who loved to read and people like you and ALIX Kate's Shulman help me understand myself and women for more than 50 years. I'm a former librarian in suburban DC and spent many an afternoon after school with you. Take care, O Wise One. Youre the greatest.
Omg lol she was my fav as a preteen/ teenager and those books really helped me feel normal
.forever in my heart wow
3rd grade...Super Fudge...she is the reason I am an avid reader. Love Judy ❤
She did!! She wrote back to us ones that needed her. She wrote me for several years and I do believe she saved my life. I know she did. Letters in the sign books she sent to me are some of my life's greatest treasures.
Ms.Blume...allowing this to happen..before you ever leave this planet was the Best discision you ever made...thank you!
Thanks for making a movie ARE YOU THERE GOD ITS ME MARGARET incredible...
Such a wonderful personality.... ❤❤
Blubber was the first novel I ever read. I was hooked. 52 years old and still have all of her books ❤

“We must increase our bust!!” 😂
I read Are you there God when I was in middle school myself, back in 1995. Loved that book and the Superfudge series 😊
I watched this great movie earlier tonight and i was able to relate to it so much.

Yes! Simply, YES!!!!! Loved the movie!!!!! 😇
Loved that clip
My childhood on screen! It was the best ever. Loved her cameo appearance in the movie too!
Incredible book and incredible movie. Very well done and made me laugh so much. Thank you Judy Blume and J. Fallon for having her on 👍😍
Honestly? I would read “you mom you” to the kids at the school I work at. It’s sounds like a hilarious simple rhyming book that the kids would love to listen to.
im just happy judy's still here
I read all her books as a kid! She's a great author!!!
I'm 43 and still have her books.
She looks amazing 😮
They did a phenomenal job on the movie
I read her books, and loved them.
I bet in my parents house somewhere is a letter than Jane Yolen wrote back to me when I fell in love with the Pit Dragon series.
I have a letter from Dean Koontz. One of the best days ever was receiving it in the mail.
Great movie for the whole family I loved it
God this movie was so nostalgic to watch. I loved her books as a young kid.
OMG im reading the book rn and im soo happy it came out the movie!!!
Yeah, just saw this movie and it's fantastic. I hope she loved it
classsic!!!
I like her adult novels too!
I loved her book Debbie read all her books
I was so obsessed with her books geared for older teens (Tiger Eyes, Deenie - but Margaret, too). And, of course, my mom stashed Wifey on a high shelf that I got into when she was out. But the “we must” chant has more to it! (“We must, we must, we must increase our busts! The bigger, the better, the tighter the sweater, the boys will look at us! And if nature has forgotten, we’ll stuff our bras with cotton! And I will be a [letter/number combo I forget] and all the boys will look at ME!”
Wow! 👍👍
Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing and Super Fudge were some of my favorite books as a kid. I wish I could go see this movie, but that wouldn't look good. I will have to wait until it is available on streaming services.
Judy Blume is an icon and I just discovered her today....#smh ❤❤❤
Is there really a better human being than Judy Blume?
She's so cute :)
An icon, especially for us Gen Xers❤
