The second time it worked because you used the right dye. Rit dye works like a charm. I use the powder myself. Never tried the liquid version. I assumed it would be watered down. I would even use two packs if dying the entire boot and shade you are trying to accomplish. That was actually the video I watched back in the day to learn to dye myself lol. Just dyed some parts for my SL reds. Turned out amazing. Have some Remz OS1 that are still as red as when I dyed them when I bought them. If you do try this again, try the RIT DYE powder. 1 pack for small pot. 2 packs for a big pot. Make sure you degrease any parts first and give the entire surface light wet sanding with 220 grit wetsand paper or scouring pad.
Using small amounts of acetone, and some white vinegar also helps to “open” up the plastic a little bit to help get the plastic to accept the dye! Nice video
@@joeyrolls add the acetone early on before heating up. Acetone is quite reactive so not a great idea when it’s hot. Add at the start. Unfortunately I forget the exact ratio. There are some good videos out there on other plastics that I used.
😂 you crack me up seriously. When we dyed my Roces oli short m12s we actually read the instructions online because I had dial-up internet so we couldn’t stream video. Since we didn’t have a big enough pot I just flipped them halfway during the process(this worked but there was a line so it wasn’t perfect). Your end result is beautiful 🤩
@@iRollerboot It will lighten up. I had to re-dye those skates twice. I also dyed a pair of remz blue and it started out really dark navy and ended up so lite you could almost not see it. They will end up looking like a really nice lemon color probably
Good work! I've never dyed my skates and I remember back in the day when I was a kid it was all the rage. This has given me some food for thought 🤔 I'm impressed with your stamina in regards to these videos, if you keep up this work rate then God damn 🙌
I used to dye lacrosse sticks. To do really cool shit with dying, tape off cool designs and then dye. Pull tape after or you can even do multiple layers.
If you don't have a big enough pot you can boil 2 large pots of water and dump them into a 5 gallon bucket from the hardware store with the dye. I started with the soul plates with only 3 gal of water for 5 min so they'd be darker than the main skate then I added in another 3 gal of boiling water and dyed the boot for about a minute. I only used half the bottle of the rit dye and it came out pretty great.
In the reassembly footage they look a little too "mustard bottle" for my taste, not sure if it's the lighting or they're really that yellow. I would of probably pulled them the first round when they looked a little more pastel. In any case the end result still is sick. The coppers would look good in purple with fresh hardware. I've always wanted to get white skates, they look sick. But the guy at the park with white skates is always smooth and stylish, and I'm neither. The idea of dying them never crossed my mind and I've always complained there's not enough navy skates.
I literally had the same issue with not having a big enough pot. I ended up doing 3/4 of my Beers so back end clear and front end green with my cuff all green. Didn't look toooo crazy lol. I felt your pain though.

This had me dying laughing 😂😂😂 pretty sure they used food coloring , and then you go buy fabric die which was hilarious ! And the small pot smh 🤦🏻♂️ that was great . The Lemonades look good ! -PD3
I used the rit dye mine came out great just clean the boot get all the wax off I use the packet not liquid over 10 year or more still holding the color
How long did you actually leave the skate in? Was the burner on when you put the skate in & how did it not melt? Did you use anything but water in the dye bath? I tried to dye the cuff of my Seba skate & it didn’t take the dye at all. It was orange & put it in the super pink bath & it did nothing. The plastic on FR/Seba is smooth shiny plastic, are aggressive boots made from different plastic?
Left the skate in a total of about 25 minutes. Nothing but water and rit synthetic dye. Not sure if they are made from different plastic, I doubt it. Make sure you’re using rit dye (and the correct one) It’s my understanding that rit brand dye is the only one that actually works well.
I’m wondering if it works with spray paint too? I’m thinking about do dye the cuff of my SL’s in a pastel color and this product you use doesn’t have this 🙈 what do you think?

Why did this explain to me more about how to ACTUALLY die my skates then that video by its self would have? 🤣🤣🤣 Also i got a new pair of razor white cults, should i dye them now they are new or wait until i've skated them in a bit?
Last summer I tried to dye my skates but the dye didn’t stick so I ended up painting the skates. Now I have a problem of how can I remove the paint from the skates cause they look terrible with partly chipped paint.. 🥶 Anyways awesome video as always! 🔥

Ahhh it's all a learning process brother. Love the videos.
my white skates turned yellow over the years . will white dye make the white again or should i use bleech or something ?
This is quickly becoming the best youtube blade channel.

do you mean add it to the water before/at the same time as the dye, or give the skates a quick rub with it before dunking them?

I'll try this on my black skates. Should work great.

Man i have black skates and I'd like to do this but i doubt it will even work at all
@@NicoLReino you can get white laces and dye them.. or get laces in the colour you want ha ha

Thank you for making the mistakes so we won't have too.

Thanks Leo. They’re rolling mustard bottles.
The yellow with white looks so good .
You should do another colour
Maybe I’ll dye the frames red for McDonald’s skates.

Do you think this would work on black skates?
So this is how it's done, we used spray paint back in the day, suffice to say it didn't work out so well after a couple of sessions.
When Blank comes out with a trooper I will have to do this

You should’ve looked up how to dye lacrosse heads. I used to dye my own lacrosse heads and I was assuming it’d be a very similar process
Ah I’ll check that out. Thanks Anthony.
Yup just saw this comment, but said something similar. It’s same exact process.

Can I dye black skates or should I just spray paint em?
I don’t believe that will end well. I’d probably just spray pint them.
