What is a bone mineral density test?

A bone mineral density test, or DXA Scan, is one of the most accurate ways of assessing your bone health. A DXA scan measures your bone loss over time and can detect osteoporosis, which is a disease of the bones that causes bones to be weak and break easily. Doctors use the results of the test to evaluate your risk for fractures. At MD Anderson we use dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry, which uses x-rays to measure bone density in the hip and spine, and occasionally in the forearm.

Judging by the video, the machine is scanning her hips.The wrist watch and ring doesnt interfere with the scan as it is on the hand. Therefore, it is ok for the patient to wear it.

I think i have high bone density never broken a bone or fractured ive done sports and jumped of high places gotten in fights and they always tell me my fists feel like rocks when punching them

How much radiation is put out by this machine? It is more than a CT scan or less?
