It’s unfortunate that it’s your first time reacting to Lionel Richie. I hope Patreon subscribers will send you requests for him. My brother was a big fan of Lionel Richie back in the 80’s and I can understand why.

Have you noticed how she stares at his face? Ginette is now half deaf.... at the time of this recording, she was being fitted with acoustic pieces, and couldn't hear very well. She was taking cues about the tempo of the song from reading his lips... and still managed to sing like this.
Ginette was managed by René Angélil who wanted her to have a worldwide career . She refused and fired him . He became Celine's manager and she went on to be 🌎 wide singer she is .
Yup Ginette could easily have a career like celine but she deside to keep it real and keep is talent in quebec love it. Way better then celine in my opinion

I've always loved that song but this performance was just amazing 💕
That's why you've GOT to react to more songs by her, I discovered her about a month ago with "C'Est Beaucoup Mieux Comme Ça" and I am under the spell of her massive vocal delivery. As for the song I just quoted, I also praise her mastery of a particular note, which most people would naturally sing otherwise, at the end of the first 2 verses, and which gives the song a specific feeling.
I just discovered her today and like you, I AM MEZMORIZED by her. She's a freaking power house!!! I'm binging on her and I can't believe I only JUST discovered her. Wow wow and WOW!!!!

Ginette Reno was born in 1946 (a year after my own mother, also named Ginette. It was a popular first name 😉).
I think that was recorded in 2012, for Star Académie. That would make her 66 y-o.

Ginette Reno est incroyable et Ginette avait un problème avec ses oreilles une surdité.

For me to is one of the best performance from Ginette Reno. Every Time i watch it i am still crying. Ginette is the greatest in Montréal Québec she is a singer since she a young girl! The true beauty about Lionnel Richie is his selflessness to get maximum to entertain, may it be to take second seat if needing be. When you see Lionnel Richie on stage you are seeing the true. Ginette hides a lot of boxed in emotions from her youger days, she has fund her therapy by releasing her true emotional passion on stage to entertain her audience. Her biggest success was probably "Je ne suis qu'une chanson", a song that her then manager, René Angelil (who became Celine Dion's manager and husband later on), pushed her to sing.

Her voice is such that she needn't shout to make herself heard and it indeed conveys a lot of emotions, almost like an explosive sigh of some sort…

what is crazy here ,, Lionel dont NEED the few ($$) he got to come in a french province up north in Canada and act in a small 6Million french market for a local reality show .... .... but he did it ...

Ginette Reno made an English single way back when she was young. It's called "I can't let you walk out of my life".
You should hear her cover of "Somebody to Love". She also did a very good number with Michel Legrand during Montreal Jazz Festival in the 1980's. This woman is very versatile.

Just so you can understand the differences in the the lyrics. Ginette speaks very little English so she probably memorized the original arrangement of the song phonetically and this arrangement is a bit different. She absolutely adores Lionel Ritchie and has previously spoken at length about her crush on him so she was probably pretty nervous lol
