I am bi and have been since I was 12. This song get me up in the morning and put a smile on my face, because even though I am now happy with who I am, it took me nearly 26 years to accept what I am who i am. Thank you all for making this song and singing it so perfectly.
I love this signed version! I'm not hearing impaired but love to watch talented and passionate signers. Fantastic song, wonderful lyrics, dedicated performers and inspiring signers! What's not to love?
This is one of my all time favorite songs!!!! I love it!!! So touching and so inspiring. The voices these women have are incredible and to include the interpreters in this video is so amazing. I just love it!!! I actually talked to some radio dj friends of mine and asked them to spread the word about this song and they are. Keep up the good work ladies!!! You really are making a difference.
I certainly wish there were groups like The L Project back when I was 13 (1978). That was 36 years ago. If so, I would not have been forced into the dark abyss known today as the closet. Inside there, and only 13 years old, I was frozen in fear and in deep despair and depression. My crime? Well, I had a double crime. I was a gay white boy in the South and I was in love with a black boy named Solomon. We were alone, beat, distraught, knocked down, stepped on, stomped on, spat on, drug behind cars, cut, laughed at, bullied at school, excluded, named called, sucker punched, tricked, hot water thrown on us, urinated on, broken bones, internal injuries, and more. Just your general misery from morning to night, day after day, with no help in sight living in the deep south. Even if you were like me, effeminate, and later denied being gay, your world was still one of misery and violence just because you were considered a pu**y boy and sissy boy. And the football coaches were pretty bad too back then. "We got to toughen up the sissy boys wanting to play a mans game." That just meant that whomever tackled you better jack you up to make you man up. My life at that time, was a living hell. I have no hate. As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr once said (paraphrased), "Hate it too big a burden to bare." I have forgiven all my oppressors, and I forgave myself for allowing fear, depression, and despair to control me an keep me in a box. I just wanted the pain and misery to stop so Solomon and I could be together. Many times I think, "whom am I to complain about the lost loves and tragedies of my youth." As many others have unfortunately, paid the ultimate sacrifice just for loving someone of the same gender. So forgive me when I listen to this song over and over and weep. It's not that I'm sad about my childhood. I am indeed sad about that, but there's nothing I can do to change that part of my past. When I weep listening to this song, it's because I do know from experience that it does get better, but I also know that there's always someone barely hanging on, struggling with their next move, trapped in the same dark abyss I lived in for years. I say to you, it's okay to come out now. You have a massive support team at your fingertips and they ALL LOVE YOU. #ItGetsBetter #allhuman #TheLProject And The L Project is a great place to start.
This song touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. I know how hard it is to accept who you are and the courage it takes to stand up and say you're not afraid to be you and not to let anyone belittle you. It does get better everyone. You're beautiful, you're special and you are loved and you are strong. Don't give up, it does get better.
The video and the song are so powerful. Thank you, after 40 years trying to conform and please others, I found a wonderful spirit that loves me. She has helped me be comfortable in my own skin. I live in a small cattle town in Texas, we are a bit outcast. It DOES get better!!! Together we are strong. Thank you again. Truly enjoy the signing!!!
Going to download today. As I can't get this song out of my head. Will have it at my ring blessing ceremony next week. As for the signing bit, it's amazing to watch. Love to you all
I needed to hear this song, I felt like crap then came across this. I'm tingling all over, it's beautiful and I'm crying. It's so inspirational, thank you so so much.
If I've said it once I've said it a hundred times. I can't stop listening to this song. It has such a deep personal meaning to me. Having been on the end of the bullying and verbal assaults for several years now you ladies truly give me hope to keep my head up and continue this life in the reality that I know to be true.....the reality that I am 110% happy with who I am!
I've heard it, I've lived it (in my own personal hell that I created as a teen), I've shared it (several times!) and I know for sure....it DOES get better! Never lose faith!! Thank you from NYC Georgie & Sohia for the beautiful words. Your message won't fall on deaf ears.....I will do my part to see to it!!

I had the privilege of being a featured performer at Hartford CT's First Lesbian-Gay Pride Rally. Growing up in the 50's, I had no role models, no one to tell me I was okay. Coming out in the 70's I started writing and singing my own self-discovery songs...It was an amazing time then. It is so good to see the tradition carry on, of sharing music that empowers and validates who we are. Thank you for doing this. Rock On!
It definitely gets better! I came out in October and can honestly say I have never been happier than I am today. This song means a lot to me. Thanks guys xx

The Signers in this are SO HOT!!! And all the other ladies are gorgeous too!!! I love this song....it gives me little shivers up and down my spine every time I play it (which is a lot, cause I quite like those little shivers!!!). Great work.....changing the world one song at a time!!!

When you lose it all when you feel like someone took a blender to your insides, when the two friends you have left in this world take advantage of you because where the heck are you gonna go. I need a community and this song is beautiful you guys loved it Thank you 🏳️🌈
its an amazing song . i learnt and used bsl before speaking although i can hear, i have commuication difficulties. the song is so powerful, i watched it with out music first (by acident) and watched the sign'ers and i really enjoyed it i have listened to it with music and going to buy it now

I've loved this since it first came out, thank you so much, all of you, for participating in this great project. I share it across my networks frequently, the message is off the charts powerful! (((muuaaahhhh!!)))
I was so touched right after a few words of this song... Thank you so much for creating this wonderful project. This really encourages us as a whole society to keep moving on despite whoever we are. It does get better! :)
This song has become my drug, it's all I have been listening to in the past week. It's beautiful and has a lovely message. I have shared this song so much and if I could download it twice I would :D Beautiful song
We are fighting now instead of hiding, this song could very well be the key we've been waiting for. It brought tears to my eyes and motivated me to continue the fight for equality.
I just came here to say thank you so much for this video. It helped me when I was a teen and struggling with coming out and dealing with hatred. I am now 27 and I managed to stick around, and I am so glad. I am now openly out as a non binary trans person with a wonderful husband who I met not long after I saw this video. We have been together now for 8 and a half years and it really does get better. No matter how trite that may sound x
congrates to every one who worked on this. i watched for the first time yesterday on facebook and have not stopped as it has so much meaning to me so i have added it to a bullyfree page
my son was bullied when he was 5. he was teased for being mixed, having special needs, and having a lesbian mom. IT got worse and worse. Everything I tried to do was not helping. No one listened. Several schools, suicide attempts later, sleepless nights, and hell....he has over come and is currently in a better school/place. We both advocate for others, I am volunteering teaching an art class at his new school to help promote anti bullying and domestic violence awareness month, Thanx! Luv this
i hear you, i had the same exsperiance back when i lived in east london its amazing that they find being honest and true to yourself a hard life but if you pretend to be someone who you are not and lie your entier life then apparently thats the easy way it also annows me when people say i wish i was gay because you are respected so much please please try live this life because its not as easy as it seems
Yet am happier now than I have been in a very long while cause in this new revelation have made an awesome new set of friends and made a new family of my own making..I am proud to stand and say I am gay and no1 can change that and I don't want to b anything less than me and me alone
Just thought to share this with people who watch this video (and also The L Project).I used this song in a video I made for mine and my boyfriend's ten month annaversary. We met as Kassy and Samantha, two girls coming from homophobic families. But now we're known as Max and Kassy, two "normal" teenagers who can't live without each other. We adore this song, and what you girls do is so amazing and we're both so inspired to do the same in our schools. It seems I have to post the video as a response
I'm out in the internet community, and I want to sing this song at my school for my coming out, because this song is simply inspiring. The only problem is that it's a small-town, highly Catholic school, and I don't want to lose all my friends or have to change schools.
I purchased this song when you first came out with it and to all those do experience it does get better... I was beaten by several years ago because of my sexual preference and left to die while I lied in a hospital bed fighting to say tomorrow... Well I came back and am stronger than ever... I have had most of my family disown me because of preference... Still I am proud of who I am... I am a lesbian and no one will put me in a closet plus I will continue to be proud of who I am...
Coming out should only ever happy when the time is right for you, I hope that when you do it all goes ok for you and that your Mum won't need to forgive you, because there is nothing to forgive, being this way is as normal as butter on toast ;O) big hug... Georgey x
This is fantastic, such a wonderful song, with great meaning and beautifully performed in BSL too. @VicNunn Thank you, I'll check with my supervisor to see whether I can continue data collection (technically I was meant to end it in October). I *am* improving now (I struggle with dyslexia-like symptoms), but I am so far from Chapter 3 (Results), I will almost certainly have time to analyse your responses. My next supervision is late next week so I will contact you as soon as I have further information. Thanks for taking an interest!
Thank you so much for your talent and pride ladies. So many people ij out school use inappropriate terms for homosexuality and teachers are uncomfortable about making a point of telling the kids that it isn't OK. Someone needs to raise awareness and make it more common for use to use the appropriate language and make sure we aren't that different. X
I totally agree with you with what goes on in schools. Really pleased you like our song...we're releasing a brand new LGBT charity song on May 4th 2014 called 'We're All Human'. Come and find us on Facebook and Twitter, thanks for all your support and don't forget to download the songs from iTunes or Amazon to continue to help us raise money for our charities, also sharing the video on your own page would be a great help, thanks...Georgey :O)
That's awesome and encouraging!! Especially when you have those who you consider allies going against, and you get inspired by this!! And you know for sure: It does get better! Constantly needing to move forward and voice out. even if one is against the odds!! :')
Najeeb Ahmad Fokeerbux exactly that ! Hi thanks so much for your support...really pleased you like our song. We really need your help though to share this song far and wide and get as many people as possible to download it to raise money for our LGBT charities, sharing is the best compliment you could give us. Did you know we have another LGBT charity song called 'We're All Human' check that song out too. Please also come and find us on Facebook and Twitter, thanks for everything... Georgey :O)
Thanks for your comments, I'm pleased that things are now getting better for you and your son and that he's in a better school now :O) It's also great that you are raising awareness if only more parents were like you, please come and join our Facebook & Twitter page and stay in touch with us...thanks Georgey
I'm going to do this for my talent show next year. I wish you guys had done this a few months earlier that way I could have gotten the sign language down sooner so that I could do this song for this year. This song is so powerful for me that when I hear it, I don't want to listen to anything else, I just want to keep listening. Great job. :)
this is amazing and very uplifting I'm not a part of the lgbtq community but I definitely fight for their right to be equal and I can not imagine how much this song would mean to a person who is a part of the lgbtq community.
