I have spent alot of my 20's travelling, living around Europe and not following a career path and I do not regret it. If you're a workaholic sure, but if you want to experience the world, then just go and figure it out. Taking a break to explore and work along the way is a great education and anyone that tells you it's a waste of time or your future career is going to run away from you is just speaking from fear. Companies always exist, jobs always exist, what doesn't always exist is your youth and your time. I will be 60 years old with decades of stories and adventures, I might not be an exec with a corner office but I don't know anyone with a high flying job that is truly happy where they ended up.
If base rent wasn't already astronomically high and the average rent hike wasn't 5% a year, and the average salary increase wasn't 2%-5% (5% = exceptional performance review), then it wouldn't be necessary to have a side hustle.
30-32 hrs per week keeping wages high and consistent. It is possible. If the workforce is abused then expect no productivity , more churnovers, negativity and resentment. Its the best formula for short lived success, you might end up going bankrupt and searching for job yourself as a founder. Wages are reduced by any excuses generally when the people at the top just want results by any means necessary which includes unethical.
No to the "six-day work week" idea. A four-day work week still means we are giving more of our days to the economic machine. We once led the world in forwardness, but now we struggle to fight the profit-seeking corporations and lobbyists who have created inequality and this toxic work environment.
You end up getting employers pressuring (but not outright saying) you into spending more than your half day working, and just like that, you've lost half your weekend with nothing to show for it.
The mother who called in about the 6 day work week, whose child is in a special school for kids with potential to be elite athletes says it all ..lol Look, if you're able to afford for your child to attend a special school like that, then that tells me your family has made it to the upper middle class, and you want more for your kids, or at least for them to maintain your family's hard earned status and resources That's wonderful, and we should all be so lucky. I really beleive that,...but make no qualms about it, you must see that you have to put your child in a very specific traning ground. The one where they inevitably join the workforce to work their way up to soul-less, upper management grind culture that will require a lot of productivity from them. So teaching your kids, now, how to work 6 days a week, but in a way that they can still fit in their mountain-climbing, crossfit, back-packing, travel hobbies, so they can maintain their sanity, is definitely the best way to do it, in my humble opinion.
Work needs to evolve to be more humane and accommodating. We will all die and not being able to travel the world for a few years is just horrible if you think about the it from the grand scheme of things.
What does that even mean in real terms? You can’t run a business like amazon without workers 24/7 around the clock working like dogs, but that’s why customers always go to them. Someone convenience is someone else’s inconvenience.
What is up with everyone wanting to travel the world. I’m sure if a study was actually done, we would see the the average person doesn’t in-fact “travel the world”. It sounds like an unrealistic dream and idea that came from some where and us Americans just keep running with the idea because it sounds good. I’m not against traveling at all, but people talk about it like it is the norm. And I have yet to meet a reasonable amount of people who are well traveled. Not just going on vacation to the common areas that the majority goes to.
4:00 you just explained the wage gap between men and women. When men look for a job the first thing the look at is wages a woman looks at flexibility. Children married or not on average men pick column A women column B. Men make more money but women have richer lives, men live to work, women work to live.
And that is the explanation for the wage gap and why women tend to live paycheck to paycheck despite making more money than men in certain jobs/situations
Yeah because women are typically the main caretaker of children. You make it sound like a choice when it's really not. Having children is the biggest influencing factor for the wage gap as women have to put their careers on hold, and then they transition to flexible or part-time work to raise their kids. It's a shit deal, no wonder why more and more women are opting out.
When Scott gives advice, I always think how applicable it is across the board and conclude it's nuts. Ie. if all folks followed his advice one vision appears: DISTOPIA. (PS. I am an european liberal, which in europe is considered right-leaning thanks to wokeism)
That's because companies are full of managers complaining about how they want you to work more and pay less. Try the corporate greed and wage stagnation generation. 🙄

Depends on the type of person I think, some people prefer stability and others prefer expanding their minds

I respect you for tapping moms in the 90's Scott.

I like this format

You’re right let’s make it 7 days
And with advent of AI It Wille only get worse
I like side hustles because you do lot lose 100% of your income, ever. It makes it easier to negotiate with your current job.
Great questions.
Nice. I would like to hear more.

Many companies are now taking away flexibility which is taking work back to the 80’s

I am a Man and flexibility is number one.

Or just make the working 10 hour days over 5 instead of 8

I'm pretty sure his recommendations are mainly for knowledge workers, business owners and entrepeneurs.
It won't work u😢
first
The comments are full of complainers that want to earn more but work less. The entitled generation. 🙄
Your children don't have to suffer just because you did
@@chhitijpahari1011 The joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives.
There should be an actual ROI to the work hours we put it lol
