for those who didnt catch it:
This is how the Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS USM is made
It is one of their best lenses available.
It costs between $7,000 and $11,000 at retail.
    Watch carefully.

The glass is set upon a hot rod/knife that acts like a glass cutter that breaks the surface tension. It then can be broke apart by just pressing or bending.

Yeah. I love how many little bits of rocks and crap there are in my fluorite Canon front elements. Looks just like a brick. Maybe I'll see if I can get an adapter, and just USE a brick, although I guess I'll have to use manual focus. But hey, I'll have something like $6999.50 instead of autofocus, and the same optical quality!
For that matter, have you seen the processes used in making CPU dies, some of which go for >$2000 for a little tiny chip? Psh.

He's a skilled Japanese worker. He'd be able to sense glass defects even blindfolded, Jedi style.

sadly, I cannot. It's like a horrible and sinister affliction that has taken over. We are powerless to stop the inundation from all sides.

    Why is the mixer V-shaped?
V stands for Vagina. V also stands for vegan, victorious, voluptuous, and vagina.
V also sometimes stands for vagina.
But my favorite V word, would have to be vagina.

The $7,000+ for the lense is still not justified by this process. Look at it, it's crude, it's like a brick making plant, they produce thousands of these lense.
The price must be inflated through the marketing manipulations....
