The issue isn't a service animal, it's the unpredictable response. If there's an actual issue, or a more justified confrontation, this person sounds like a complete wildcard.
Not being able to read social cues and maintain a level of self control is annoying on the ground, maybe even aggravating, but that's about it. In a packed JetBlue flight, it could be much worse. Imagine another passenger else "says the wrong thing" about their service animal. Or rough turbulence sends the dog flying into another passenger. There is no walking away from either party, no de-escalation, only the demonstrated rage. Aka... not fit to fly. Possibly a danger to others around them without even realizing it.
Flying is a privilege not a right.

People employed to ensure all rules are obeyed need to just ignore why they are hired. Service animal, I doubt it as they are trained to fly on planes. Most likely some Karen or Chad with an untrained companion animal.
They are most likely not however it is perfectly fine to have guidance or service dog on a plane in case it is a life necessity

@desertrat7634 I think you missed the point. We understand that a service animal can't be on the seat. Also understand that the disregard of the crewmembers request to move the dog is a violation of 14CFR 121.580. What makes it possibly complex is the fact that a person with a legitimate service animal may have a disability that makes them more difficult to deal with. My point is that I see an awful lot of people these days that get a doctors note for an, "ESA" like they used to get medical Marijuana cards 25 years ago.

@@chrisraehl5290 It was 'burn down', not dump. Jetblue mostly operate A320s, which can't dump fuel, so the procedure is to fly around until you burn the excess weight off

So just out of curiosity, if the service animal was not infringing on a passenger’s seat, for the sake of saving the fuel and keeping a safe environment, why not let the dog sit in the seat. A simple solution without drama ?? Again , just wondering. 😊
It's more about the attitude shown by the passenger towards the cabin crew commands. It's not being dangerous right now but can become dangerous given different circumstances that could occur through the flight. Sometimes it happens that flight attendants are just being Karens themselves, but you can't take the FA out of the plane (logistical issue to replace them), so the easy solution is to take the passenger out without further debate. Then it can be analyzed and settled in favour of the passenger and can have consequences for the FA that made that mess, but the first thing at the moment is to ensure the flight's safety.

I assume the passenger put the service animal on a seat that he had purchased. There is no mentioning that the animal somehow made the seat dirty of something. Why not deescalate and continue, why this power trip?
@@Chr15T Again. It's about the safety of the flight, and the possible conflict that can happen mid-air. More about how the passenger may have reacted towards the crew, not about the fact of the pet being where it shouldn't. One of the latest videos of Kelsey from 74gear explains this, and that it doesn't necessarily mean that the passenger is in the wrong.

You realize the passenger had a round trip ticket and this was her trip home. On her way to her destination, the dog was on the floor, in accordance with Jet Blue’s policy. On the trip back, the lady wouldn’t put the dog on the floor.

Here’s my bill for 2 tickets a delay of transport payment for missed work, and extra vacation payment, and for a booked residence that wasnt used and my lawyer to represent my traumatic experience. Surely more than 13k.
I was just on a flight out of LAX that had a lady with a service dog. She got on the plane with the handicapped passangers. If you need a dog to get on a plane you shouldn't be flying.
All the fake pilots in the comments talking about how unnecessary this was. If someone is being verbally abusive to pax or flight crew that is a federal crime. And a potential for further issues down the road should the worst case happen and they need everyone’s swift obedience and cooperation in an emergency evacuation. You cannot tolerate unruly behavior on a 60-ton machine miles above the ground. As for burning fuel, there is a procedure for an overweight landing but the captain is fully in his rights to decide a lighter load is the best course of action particularly at BOS where some runways in use are incredibly short.

What we don't know is whether the request associated with the service animal was reasonable. Whether or not, the time to deal with a flight attendant making an unreasonable demand is later, on the ground.

If I were one of the other passengers, I would be pissed - more by the crew and the airline than that passenger. Seems to be a total overreaction and a power trip. Of course, just judging from the video, there may be more information that may change the picture.

I feel that the ADA will be less willing to back up this guy when he's treating his service animal as a pet, then also cussing out the employees.
If the seat was open, the person was less confrontational, he'd probably have more help from the ADA people.
If the seat was open (which I'd guess so, or else the complaint would be more that the animal was jumping on someone, or wouldn't let them sit down) then I don't see why the employees care so much. The employees probably escalated a non issue, causing the person to get more upset.
Some people may say that the employees didn't want an animal on the seat for health/sanitary reasons or some shit. If you ask any flight attendant, I'd bet that nearly all of them would say that an animal on a seat is nothing compared to what they see some people do.
I've heard of people changing poop diapers on tray tables, and not all the poop stayed in the diaper. People with all sorts of funk on their feet go barefoot up and down the plane.
I travel with my service dog all the time and this disruptive passenger was totally in the wrong. Service dogs aren’t allowed to be placed on the seat. They have to be on the floor space where the seat is. I’m assuming he purchased an extra seat for the dog but the dog still has to be on the floor space. This passenger obviously either doesn’t know the rules or he is just entitled and thinks the world evolves around him. I travel with my service dog every month and I always purchase an extra seat for my dog but I still have her lay on the floor space where the seat is. If anyone has more questions related to this subject, im happy to answer but I do ask that comments are respectful and no abusive language

@@surveyingfleaproductionsimbecile was not following the rules. Using a plane ticket means you agreee to obey all rules set by the airline and FAA and follow all instructions by the flight attendants. You even check a box saying you understand that when you buy the ticket.
