didnt expect to see friends vs friends suddenly-it’s honestly such a well made game and concept but i do feel like the gameplay loop ends up being a bit two dimensional after enough games
This is actually a dream idea of mine. I work on a game based on it for a bit, but I fell to the rookie mistake of not having a clear plan and scope creep. So, this is awesome.
Yeah ! It's so great to have news of this project. I love the ideas that you have with the community where the work force actually repeat what the player did in the dungeon.
came here after your Starve videos. i really like that your games are unique! i guess that's what you can do when you're fully in charge of what you're making. keep up the good work, you've got a new subscriber! one thing i really miss from older games is games having built in cheats you can toggle. sometimes i don't feel like battling monsters and just want to mine resources or vice versa, so having a God Mode or unlimited resources or something similar is awesome. Seven Days to Die does a great job of letting you have a bunch of cheat options to make the game more fun.
Itd be fun if you could "Charge" with the point of a weapon, letting it deal damage if you walk into someone with the point of your weapon without attacking.
Excellent devlog! I can't imagine how long it took you to edit all of this. I think I chose different options than the majority in every poll, hah. XD But I'm excited to see what you make! It looks like your progress has been great so far. Going system by system is a great strategy. Especially doing future passes to improve those systems once you have the basic elements in. I think this is particularly important because it's impossible to know how two systems will interface without building them both first. When you say you're looking forward to building the automation, is that because that's a type of game you like to play or have always wanted to build? Or because it will start to solidify the game's unique identity?
can the dungeoneer die? can it get better (leveling by getting xp each time it does the dungeon then getting better times)? can you upgrade its stuff to get a better ratio ? that update video made me think of the dynastiy warrior games the progress look good !
Nice devlog thank you ! It seems to me that you actually spent a lot of time for things that were "unrelated" to the dungeon mechanics. Like animations and sprites for example. I would have not spend any second to make the game pretty at this point since everything can change after the first test. Maybe the game won't be fun and you will add or remove things, making you change the weapons, the character, the interface. Even the colliders can change if you decide to change the weapon sprite. Also, if the game is not fun when ugly, it won't be fun when pretty I think. But maybe the sprites you are using are the final ones already and you want to learn all these aspects of development now. So if you like the process, enjoy :)
Hi, thanks for watching and for your comment! I usually spend time on making things pretty for multiple reasons. The main one is for the sake of these devlogs. I want them to look a bit prettier on camera than a bare prototype. I enjoy polishing stuff on the go. It might not be the most efficient way to work, but it's way more pleasant for me to work on a game that looks nice ! As I've done these things in multiple projects by now, I'm getting faster at implementing them now :) Btw, the sprites are the final ones I'll be using 😁
What you're saying is very true though, if I wasn't making devlogs I'd try to stick to these rules (even though I'd have a hard time not to polish on the go, I just can't help it 😅)
1:10 Please be careful pouring coffee grounds/rice down your drain, over time it can clog them and cause larger issues. I recommend tossing them in the trash, compost, or just outside.
i dont usually criticize but youre sending 20 minute video about 4 days of 30 development days? that will be total of 2.5 hours of development footage, nobody else does that, game development is boring, ideas and highlights are alright but i wouldnt call your skills especially great when i compare them to satisfactory and hades from the thumbnail, like why cant the dungeon be 2d at least? who does 1d dungeons these days?
What a first devlog. This project is starting wildly ! Your adventure in game dev is my favorite series :) keep GOING !

Top tier content as usual 💯 That mechanic about dungeneers taking the same time you took in your run to clean a dungeon is just brilliant
“Congrats! i’ve saved you from the monsters. now, welcome to the monster of capitalism!”
Makes you wonder if the monsters are really monsters all along
First time ever I see someone showing the whole process including brainstorm drafting. Thanks

great job, its really looking promising and fun, can't wait for the next devlog ! Impressive how you are developping nice and entertaining videos :)
This is probably a devlog that I will follow all the way

the most important part of a devlog is having fun
Amazing. Those are the genres I enjoy most.
community driven projects are the future of content, nicely done
The video was awesome! Keep going
It was such a treat to be able to contribute to the polls during this journey!

I really hope this game will be released it looks really fun already

Really nice devlog! Community built game seems interesting!
The gates from the binding of Issac may look cool here
Opsive's videos seem right up my alley tbh
feels like the game "survivalist" ( same creator as "escapists")

For all the reasons you mentioned ! And also because spending too long on dungeons when half of the game is automation stresses me out 😅
soooo basically you're like an adventurer's guild guild master?
hell yeah

The concept in the beginning (1:43) sounds SO MUCH like Dark Cloud on PS1. lol
Didn't expect to see Pacific Drive ngl, great game. Also watch out for DMCA, what You played are licensed songs

Time to stick around. I better get free early access!! (This is literally cult of the lamb)

If only I could ignore the sinking feeling of how easily this could be subjected to abusive micro-transactions.

If you have time can you implement player customisation for skin color, outfit, etc.?
Hi! It might be a bit too much for such a short project 😅
But who knows?
Clean that coffee maker, Jesus bro.
Interesting
what is that dinosaur with village on it's back game? 11:15
The wandering village - a very interesting city-builder I'll be mentioning in one of my next devlogs
