      Aleta Thomas right I said the same thing. Genders is French is hard enough as it is, so to learn without them is honestly a bit of a waste and I refuse to learn and train my brain incorrectly 💯

      I've been teaching French for 30 years, I'm always puzzled when they deliver a dry vocabulary list without the gender. A simple article 'un/une' in front of the entry would have done the trick elegantly. I think I'm going to produce a 10,000 French words list on UA-cam to compensate for this lack. (just 1000 words is really Mickey Mouse when you want to study any language.)

    There are a number of mistakes in this list. For example, the French for "engage" is given as "se fiancer". But "se fiancer" means "get engaged" to someone who is now your "fiance".

    Spanish and French share the same genre? For the nouns? Thx you!

    • @Paroissien
      @Paroissien 2 роки тому

      It is a fascinating topic, the Latin genre would be a solid ground for it, but add to this an element of what the evolutionists call 'convergence'. You can say that especially Italian/French (very close sisters), but also Spanish, 'often' assign the same genre to objects. Don't just trust my (educated) guess for it, I'm sure you'd find accurate studies about it on the net.

    This is not a strong list of words. "Accountant," "adjective," "Africa," and "Antarctica" are essential words you need to know in French? Hardly. I can speak almost conversationally in German (A2) at this point, and I would never need to speak about "Antarctica" at any point.

    It really isn't a good idea to learn nouns without their article (le, la, les). If you do this, you will just have to learn the words all over again later. There are other videos available which include the article with each word.

      U don't need to remember with the gender, it depends on what are you talking about a female and male

    What's the difference between "copine" and "petit ami"? Which one do they use in France?

    • @vivianlea7193
      @vivianlea7193 4 роки тому

      Rus Lander (Not 100% sure not a native) Copine is friend as in pal and petit ami is boyfriend as in relationship.

    • @stephanebalon1546
      @stephanebalon1546 4 роки тому

      "Petit ami" means boyfriend. If you put the feminine version, you get "petite amie" which means girlfriend. However, in the daily language "copine" alone means friend (girl) but it can mean also girlfriend, we understand depending on the context....

    • @Paroissien
      @Paroissien 2 роки тому

      'Copine' is feminine so the equivalent is 'petite amie'. For girlfriend what tells it is your adding 'ma' before, and according to your social class, age rage, the spirit of the time, etc. you'd call her 'ma copine', 'ma compagne', 'ma femme', 'ma meuf'... I could add a few dozens, just as in English, and everybody understands that you and her are close. I like the old Canadian French 'Ma blonde', even if she is a brunette !
