I like seeing different set ups. Everyone should use what works for them. I like my wood stoves in my tents, but I hunt in Wyoming. They're mandatory gear.

Used a wood stove in my canvas wall tents, 10x12 & 12x14, for many elk seasons. Just can't beat that nice heat, easier to dry wet hunting clothes and listening to the fire burning inside of the stove. Also, a warming shelf, hot water tank and stove pipe oven were very nice to have too.

      Thank you for viewing.
My elk camp seems to be evolving each year as I try to downsize from year's past. From 10x18 canvas wall tent camp, too much gear at my age to handle, setup solo. 2024 elk camp video soon, still Kodiak 10x10 canvas tent, but a few camp gear changes.

@@MavHntr we run a 14x20 wall tent for the group hunts but it's a pain to setup. Looking for a family setup to accommodate 2 sets of disco bunk beds that I can setup on my own. Was also looking at the Kodiak 9x14.

I suggest the 10x14 size, or the cabin tent 9x12 to give a look-see.
For 7 years have been very happy with the Kodiak canvas, quality & performance. EXCEPT adding the optional vestibule to the front awning as the 10x10 model requires grommet modification. I believe the 10x14 size does NOT require grommet modification. The optional front vestibule will give you a lot of dry area to store gear instead of inside the tent.

I meant to say 12x9. It seems like it would be stronger in winds straighter walls but 14x10 is nice for extra length and potential for stove. Can't decide.

my 10x10 Kodiak has been through a few SEVERE windstorms. Sustained Gusts of over 40mph! One time returned to camp after a miserable morning hunt. Observed other camp's tents were blown or tipped over, saw 2 dining canopies broken, collapsed.
Upon return to my camp, fearing the worst, my Kodiak tent stood tall, stakes still firmly in the ground.

NIce set up! I also use a shower/privy at our deer camp. I bought the one made by Browning from Cabelas/Bass Pro...It is so convenient. I use for my restroom paired with a Luggable Loo portable toilet..I had to add some extra guy out ropes to keep it secure in heavy winds and I think that is the case with almost any of these type shelters. It has stood up to freezing rain, snow and heavy winds for 2 years with a total of about 40 days? The removable floor is great for clean up and that way you can decide what you prefer.

privacy and protection from chilling breezes when showering are what I like the best.

Glad you liked it! Revealing a new camp for fall 2023, same Kodiak tent but different trailer cover to create common area for eating, sitting, talking out of the weather.

Thank you, I enjoy my time in the woods. At my age, need a comfortable camp for multi-day quests. This adventure was a 14-day excursion.

Sweet set up! Just picked up one of these tents. Your entire setup gave me some ideas for long range hunt camp. Been working on points in about 6 states.

It seems each season, I find a way to improve the hunt camp. Essential to be comfortable, warm, dry, good eats and get a good night's sleep in order to be at your best for the hunt & pursuit. Good luck in your point accumulation...may you cash in those points for a good tag oneday.

Nice set up. Thanks for sharing. I'm in Az. My elk hunt starts the day after Thanksgiving. I'll be in the snow. Mogollon Rim area.

Oh, to draw an AZ non-res archery bull tag again!
Good luck on your AZ elk late hunt. Have heard that elk may migrate below the Mogollon Rim if there is deep snow, cold temps.
In late November, snow flies then I see more elk below the rim around Colcord, Christopher & Armer mountains.

Thank you. Tent has been very good for 6 years now. Average 60 nights per year with this Kodiak 10x10' canvas tent.

Awesome camp Mav, Idk if I commented on another one of your Kodiak videos but I'm deciding to go with one of these, Like you I mainly camp alone for hunts and fishing sometimes with my lab as well. I would be putting my chinese diesel heater hose in the tent. (Ive found that heater an awesome option for staying on and comfy all night)with that said, Do you think the 10x10 is a bit too big ever? I'm thinking of this because it provides the option of the vestibule but not a deal breaker. so either thinking of this or the 9x8 option. I spend 3 or 4 days max on hunts unfortunately as well

The 10x10 gives you more headroom for standing upright. Worth the extra foot print of this tent.

Any info on your shower inclosure?
I’d like to get me one of those.

It is very nice to have for privacy. Even keep a bucket filled 1/4 full w/water in there too for those unexpected, late night, rush out of the tent occurrences. This brand of shower tent is tall enough, with plenty of 90”+ headroom for my 6'-2" height and lots of width, space too. And It's held up through a few violent windstorms but you must stake down securely.
There are many shower enclosures out there, and most are China garbage. I added a link to the video description of the one I purchased and use.

UPDATE: The dining canopy over the utility trailer was destroyed during a violent windstorm in the Arizona desert in January 2023. Gusting winds of over 50+mph. Bummer as it was the most expensive $$$ and highly rated 10x10 dining canopy listed on Amazon.
Due to purchasing it on a Prime event, the dining canopy came with a 90-day warranty. Amazon accepted my return of the item, no shipping charges and issued full credit.
Have a new cover set up over the utility trailer for fall 2023, including wood stove capability....stay tuned.
