Thanks Doug. He's definitely one of the good guys. And very interesting to watch him perform the delicate task of grafting with the same hands he uses to slam 250lb athletes to the mat 🤣
Wow, your videos just keep getting better and better! Everything is so immaculate and spot on. You're right about hard work having a payoff. Sawyer really did work hard to get to where he is today. Your videos, especially this one and the other one about hard work, are a great example of how hard work pays off, particularly consistent hard work. It's also important to have hope, as you mentioned, and even patience. We'll always fail at some point in our lives. But as long as we get back on our feet, learn from our mistakes and continue, we'll achive what we desire. And with patience and consistency, we'll get there in the blink of an eye. A great way to mix grafting, wrestling and hard work! When I grow up, I want to become an IT specialist or a programmer - to code, make websites and video games, that kind of stuff. But I need to study more efficiently and get those grades up, because yes, I do get low grades from time to time. I have a feeling that you thought I wanted to sell avocados and mangos, or be a farmer. And that is partially true, but I feel like I won't like doing it full time. And I believe that coding will be better for me. Maybe I could sell a few trees here and there, but not the whole time.
A very annoying thing hapened to my avocado, which I planted outside. Earlier today I heard some machines, which were for cutting grass and there were people cutting grass and removing weeds and rootstocks, something like that. I could see everything from my window. Well, that is where I planted my avocado. And I forgot to mark the seedling with a stick or a pole, or in the very least put a sign somewhere. A few hours go by and I went to see if my avocado was okay. Unfortunately, it was destroyed, at least the leaves were. The stem is still there, but it was soft and felt dry. It's a bummer because the avocado bounced back after being a bit droopy and this happened. But it might not be that bad after all, because it was techincally pruned. We'll wait and see. But I will stay optimistic. It might be a blessing in disguise. I've got an even bigger issue with my indoor avocados. Root rot is hitting the leaves left right and center and there're fungus gnats everywhere. And I even lost a few very important avocados in the process. But I might have a backup plan to save some of my avocados, at least their DNA. I'll get in detail another time. It comes with being a plant parent. Sometimes, it can't always be good. What's also annoying is the potting mixes/soils they sell in big box stores. Every soil has compost, like 99% of soils in my area have that. And what do avocados hate the most near their roots, that's right, compost. Not all potting soils are bad, but I have trust issues with them. But it's not all bad. There are still some good sides to this, but it's important for me to prevent or minimize these issues. I haven't tried growing cherries from cuttings yet, but I will try. I can't be bothered to remove the outer shell from the cherry seed. I love cherries, they are sweet and you don't have to wait 7-10 days after being picked in order for them to be properly ripened. I know this was another long one, but hey, I gotta do what I gotta to update on my avocados, apples and mangos.
I live in Central Florida near Cape Canaveral. My mango trees flower every year but most of the fruit drops off. I think powdery mildew is the problem. What can I do to prevent it?
I don't think any of them are any better or worse per se but I like the buddy tape because there's fewer moving parts. you don't have to worry about building a tent out of a plant bag so they're easier to water too.
Beast of a wrestler!! One of the best ever! I made his wrestling room hall of fame "fat head" for South Dade HS. Which is a life-size cutout from a picture. Funny story is I had it standing in the laundry room door at my house one day and my wife walked to the laundry room when I wasn't home and caught her by surprise so she screamed thinking someone was in the house. I thought it was funny, she didn't think so for some reason. Best wishes for Sawyer, I believe he will be a great college wrestler like he was during HS. Now that I'm not involved in wrestling anymore, my hobby is grafting & growing trees, especially mango. Small world!
Igor, thank you for your order and we appreciate your support. Unfortunately we had to refund your purchase because the state of CA has very rigid regulations regarding importation of trees from Florida and I'm too small to go through all the certifications and inspections and handling procedures. I cannot ship trees to CA. Again, I apologize.
Good luck Sawyer!
we might see him in the next olympics
Awesome video Tom! Sawyer’s well on his way. He displays a very mature attitude and personality! Best to you Sawyer!

Where are the ladies? A good grafter has to bring his harem.
Jorge is coming out next week. Can't wait to see who he brings.
I know that Sawyer is no Tovar.
they share a kinship in that both are masters of their craft.
Sawyerrrrrr!
💪
Very smart
💪
THE GOAT!
for real
Awesome video!
he has and awesome story
When’s the best time to cut the budwood? After the flowers and the piece that doesn’t grow fruit drops off?
yes shortly after that. they swell up and start to bud.
Next, graft Armando to Jorge...... Then I will subscribe and like.
you're not a subscriber already? 😭
Why did you cut the rootstock so high? I thought it had to be 2 inches from soil level.
I don't know, I was taught to do it this way
Where did you get the wired hangers?
I was at my friend's farm and he had a big pile of garbage with a few hundred wire hangers on top. I asked if I could have them.
Can Mango trees grow in a garden in New Jersey or no way?
too cold but you guys grow amazing peaches and tomatoes that's for sure
Hi🇮🇳

Oh nooooo

next year spray with sulfur when your flowers appear. you can't undo it you gotta prevent it.
So which method was the best? I do the 1st one and have zero success so far 😁 and I can't figure out what I am doing wrong 😭

I believe Sawyer said he's at Ohio State, not Iowa.
we better get to the bottom of this before he departs for college
Thanks you will get on it next year.
yes

Great conversation. Good luck at school Sawyer! Just ordered one of your tree grafts.
