In this tutorial I teach you ten moves from this era that every belly dancer should know.

      Thanks for your lovely comment Adnana. I'm so happy that you have discovered belly dancing and are learning through these videos. What prompted you to start? You are going to love it. When you first start, it can be difficult to even know which muscles you are trying to move! But persevere. The more you practice, the more your muscles will get used the the different movements. For most of my students, the five week mark is the ah ha! moment. After this everything will start to feel more natural. I have workout videos that are great for beginners too if you want to practise with me: ua-cam.com/video/e_jIf4vgysw/v-deo.html Would love to hear how you progress with it!

    I have a huge affinity for the golden era of bellydance, thank you for breaking these golden era moves down! I've also been on the lookout for vintage/golden era-style costumes, where did you get the one you're wearing in this video?

    • @BellyDancerDiaries
      @BellyDancerDiaries  Рік тому

      Yes, such beautiful costumes, and the high waisted style is back in fashion now, so it much easier to get golden era styled ones. I got this one from Sufel Boutique. The craft work isn't as detailed or strong as all the hand-sewn beading on traditional Egyptian costumes, but they are comfortable and always look great for a show.

    • @BellyDancerDiaries
      @BellyDancerDiaries  3 роки тому +1

      Ooh, I have to admit that I do love downward figure eights. But there are so many moves that I love! I feel I have favourites for different reasons. Shimmies to build energy, or add subtlety in baladi. Up in eights and big arms for big flowing modern songs. Soheir Zaki step for accents... okay, you're right, I love them all! Which is your favourite Don?

      @BellyDancerDiaries  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks so much Janice, I love this one too! It is from Sufel Boutique. sufelboutique.com/ Their costumes have less beading, and are more modern with diamantes stuck on (which often fall off). But I love their silk skirts and their costumes are light and dramatic for shows. She has many beautiful styles if you are looking at purchasing a costume 😁

      Around the 1940s-60s belly dancing was extremely popular and featured in many films. Around 60s too, the Reda Troupe became very popular, bringing Egytian folkloric dance to the stage. It was a wonderful time for dance in Egypt! Do you enjoy this style?
