I don't care how much money they're offering me, I'm not jumping off the horse in the middle of the stretch. That is INCREDIBLY dangerous to the jock (and the horses behind, too). Luckily, no one got hurt.
Jockey clearly thought he was big stuff with dramatic, unnecessary whipping in the home stretch... definitely had his ego knocked down a few pegs. Very unfortunate for the bettor, though.
Firstly, no jockey is going to jump off and risk his life. Secondly, what does the jockey have to gain by doing so? Some of these comments, saying that it was on purpose, are moronic. Some people are so stupid, they should never leave the house.
First I thought it was fixed but you can clearly see the horse get spooked and run/dodge left - question is, where's the laser etc that made the horse do it.
If the jockey were involved he would have easily parked his horse behind the wall of horses in front of him when they were turning for home. Also he would have jumped off the horse earlier in the race not when all of the horses are behind him and risking his life doing so. Jaramillo just made a poor decision using the whip unnecessarily instead of just hand riding because the horse was in the clear and loaded with run.
That's what l was thinking. He could have easily been trampled to death. Don't think any jockey would do that for any amount of money. Why would someone pay a bunch of money for to him to lose. It's not like their going to win the next pick 6 because of this race issue
Have all those who claim the jockey jumped off ever come off a galloping horse, even without several other horses in a position to trample you to death? It is not pleasant. The jockey wanted to win. See how he barges Nº6 out of his way (1.40+) to make a gap. Listen to the commentary at that point. He might even have crossed the line first and lost on an objection by Nº6, which would have finished second. The jockey on Nº9 only had to remain boxed in to lose the race.
Agreed. Falling off like that is ASTOUNDINGLY dangerous. There isn't enough money in the world for me to do that on purpose, and I doubt there is for Jaramillo, either.
Jaramillo has been known for stiffing horses. The call came in that if he won, Gulfstream would have to pay out over a half million dollars. They didn't want that and he needed to keep his job.
Anyone that thinks the jockey purposely bailed on that horse is an idiot. Horse jerked and threw him out the side. So many easier ways to get a horse beat than hitting the front and jumping off 10 yards from the line lol.
no way the jockey did that on purpose ,,,,, 1:57 the horse just took a bad step ,, sometimes i think there's ruff spots on the turf the track people overlook

The bookies should pay out anyway as it was clearly a freak event and the horse had won... in the UK you'd get paid out for that one and the one that crossed the line first
There are no 'punters' in the United States. There is only a mutual pool, the entire content of which is funded by the bettors. The track takes a cut of each pool and distributes every cent other than their cut back to the bettors. If the track had said, "Oh, well, that horse would have won anyway, let's give the guy the pic 6 money," there would have been a huge outcry from all the other bettors who had invested their money. Bad breaks happen all the time in horse racing. Your horse stumbles at the gate, or stands in the gate, or gets floated wide, or gets blocked, etc. It's the nature of the game. This is just a very glaring instance of how something can go wrong. And no one would even be taking notice of it if the pic 6 hadn't been on the line.
THE ENFORCER SIMON BALLS in his defence, I have known the big bookies pay out/refund/provide free bets when something absolutely shocking like that happens, but that’s usually only up to a relatively small value bet. No way are they refunding over 500k
No one person bet 500k. It was a pool that built up over time with lots of bettors' money contributing to it. The Rainbow Pic 6 is a minimum 20 cent bet. The unlucky bettor's ticket could have cost him $12 to get to that last horse off of whose back the jockey fell.

Scam? Watch the replay,,,, horse ducks left.... jockey loses his balance... and he falls off. I've had it happen on a 15 to 1 shot with a 10 length lead and only a 16th to go. It happens. Not happy time, but it happens.
Anthony Garca, what scam? The horse suddenly ducks to the left, probably something near the outer fence or the crowd (or the noise) spooked him. Shit like that happens. It just happened at a HORRIBLE time for this horse, jockey, and people that bet the horse. There is no scam here you fool.

Bookies clearly paid him perhaps not to fall but to lose if you look closely at the race despite jockey not wanting to move forward he travelled superbly into the race gap appeared and boom horse was gone in that instance a jockey can not be seen to not push out the horse or he's banned so he then panicked and took a dive
"Breakage in the stirrup leather". Now there are some words you don't hear everyday. How do you idiots even come up with this s**t? The horse ducked left. Period. For whatever reason. I'm going to have to go against the "breakage in the stirrup leather". Just cause I can. And I've never heard it said in 37 years of going to the track, as common as it might be.
Thats has nothing to do with luck, the bookies probably told him in hie ear-piece what to do, horse never took a bad step, he tugged the reigns and the horse wobbled a bit, so het hot unstable and just decide he's got to fall off now before he never rides again, its cruel but its gambling, and its all set up for them to win your money.
You are a really special kind of fucking stupid. Ya, they decide to fix a race by having a jockey fall off the horse 50 yards from the finish and maybe get trampled by eight other horses. Ya, that is what happened. You fucking clown. The horse ducked in. If you actually knew anything about horse racing and horses you would know this type of thing is not that rare. It happens more than people think. If someone was going to fix a race it would be much easier to do that asking the jockey to risk his life right in front of everyone in plain site. God damn some of you people are fucking stupid.
A total fix. Someone made sure the bettor wouldn't be getting paid half a million bucks so they gave the jockey 50 grand to fall off just before he got to the line. That's how simple to analyse this race is. Hell, the Yank racing is almost as bad as our own!
Do you realize the track takes a percentage off the top and redistributes the rest to whenever had wunning tickets?? The track doesn't make any more or less on a large or small payout. The track doesn't care who wins and looses. They make the exact same amount no matter what!!!
Better went into cardiac arrest afterwards but did survive but eventually was arrested for assault for threatening jockey with an electric whip...LOL

Damned horse was paid to take a stride. Track probably had one of his foals for insurance.
Tough luck for the bettor. But at least the money was still there for him to chase the next day. The main thing is the horse was okay.
Yeah im sure the guy that lost sleeps pleasantly knowin the horse is alright... Are you insane? That guy probably fantasizes about working at the glue factory as the horse comes thru the door...
Blaytant
So set up
i think hitting the horse caused it to spook, if he had not hit it, i think it would have won, no need to whack it when he did, race was in the bag
That was a fix. They knew that someone had that pick six. When they do those dives they always do it in a measured dismount as was done with this. It is never that they go flying, it is always a soft descent.
How much did they pay the jockey to jump off???$$$$

I wondered the same thing!
You're a complete idiot.
Nobody knows if he would of been the only winner if no 9 won because the result was based with no 6 as the winner
He was a single ticket.
Jesus, before the race they give out the payoffs so they knew it was a single ticket
Nick erase your stupid comment
The horse moved violently to the left meaning the jockey couldn't stay on. Can you not see at all?
A total fix.
Someone made sure the bettor wouldn't be getting paid half a million bucks so they gave the jockey 50 grand to fall off just before he got to the line.
That's how simple to analyse this race is.
Hell, the Yank racing is almost as bad as our own!
Do you realize the track takes a percentage off the top and redistributes the rest to whenever had wunning tickets?? The track doesn't make any more or less on a large or small payout. The track doesn't care who wins and looses. They make the exact same amount no matter what!!!
That was a freak accident the is not going risk his life knowing well he can be trample
the jockey received instruction not to win right before the crossing line that's why he had to jump off from his mount...
