Gotta love The LBJ! Too bad about the mishap in the second heat (the final), but I will always believe Fan Hanover would have prevailed anyway. That first heat, second division was remarkable! The Fan was three wide most of the last half and still overtook the leaders. Great horse and driver, the late Glen Garnsey. Saw Fan Hanover race at Greenwood Raceway in Toronto; can't recall if it was 1980, as a Juvenile, or 1981, but do know she won for fun and paid 2.10 for the win, lol.
The commentator is a Garnsey fan to be kind. Overall Garnsey, had great horses, an average trainer and an absolutely abhorrent driver. The lead horse past the 1/8 pole INTENTIONALLY slowed down well below "pace rate". FACTS ORC found driver at FAULT 30 day suspension. Fact Webster smacked the other driver so hard he caused bloody mouth and nose. ORC fined him $25.00, total penality. Fact Hall of Fame trainer drivers do not consider Fan Hanover a great champion, despite her time trial.
